| News Comment | FA Charge Referee Drysdale at 20:24:17
He's human and lost the plot. Because he's a referee doesn't mean he is immune from this, but as he upholds the laws of the game he has rightly apologised and been charged by the FA. No hard feelings from me, we have larger concerns to address. |
| News Comment | Ipswich Town 0-1 Sunderland - Match Report at 00:20:40
Worked hard and looked reasonably solid with 10 men for eighty minutes. Stayed in the game and didn't throw in the towel. If you looked at this game in isolation without any of the narrative there are positives. We seem to have a lot of problems. We don't create much with the ball and aside from tonight we do have a lot of it. We don't offer threat from set pieces either (more of a problem with 10 men!). With eleven we struggle to turn possession in to Chances. We have an underbelly prone for poor decision making under pressure which is giving points away. Tonight it was Jackson, Saturday the lunge for the penalty or the sliced own goal, we can't afford to give away advantage yet we do fairly consistently. I can't see where the goals are in the team. We are asking a lot of Chambers and Ward in this system, we seem to play in a way that bypasses Dozzell's strengths. Some harsh comments on Jackson who has been asked to play as a loan striker and on left wing when his best games for us at the start of last season were running off Norwood. The most frustrating thing about is is Peterborough's decent attacking players weren't firing when they came on Saturday and Sunderland weren't great either playing a man over for the game both did enough without us being able to worry them. |
| News Comment | Judge: I'm Not Going to Kid Myself, I've Been Shit But Rochdale Felt More Like My Old Self at 22:21:27
Get behind Judge and he will turn his confidence around. Judge in form could run this league and be the difference between sustaining where we are with match winning contributions or fading if things aren't going right in a fixture pile up. I think we are all behind him so draw a line under previous performances And start fresh, much improved at Southend and Rochdale |
| News Comment | Lambert: Have a Drink on Me at 20:12:04
Need to move on from the MM ding dong it's polarised the support. Togetherness required for a decent push this season regardless of previous political leanings. |
| News Comment | Evans on Relegation, New Arrivals and the Promotion Challenge at 22:05:12
The more ME listens to the supporter base the more challenge he seems to get but that's what relegation will do. Look at the last few supporter surveys and, although slowly, I genuinely believe the club has begun to address some of the frequently made points, matchday experience, slow queues at bars, shabby stadium, getting the next generation in, never hearing from the owner, community centred club etc..I know those things don't win football matches but it strikes me that the supporters are increasingly listened to and many of those areas are improving. Even MMs departure was probably led by supporter opinion of the vocal regardless on your polarised opinion on it either way. Investment in the playing squad seems to be the big frustration maybe the sole one but I don't really have an informed opinion on it. I can't imagine the complex workings of a football club so but I'm fearful of ending up in a situation like Bolton or Bury and the impact that could have. Yes it would be great to spend a few million and try and buy promotion but what if it didn't. The bigger marker of final standings in this league seems to be average wage bill and we are sitting at the top of the pyramid for a change. This makes me a happy clapper to some but I'm really excited about this season and how a good season could be a turning point for everyone involved. Let's hope everyone pulls together and Saturday sees the return of some optimism for the deserving supporters. |
| News Comment | Lambert Expresses Transfer Frustrations: It's the Way the Club's Run at 20:39:24
Uncomfortable to listen to. Power-play by Lambert, reference to the fans to keep the support and siege mentality whilst digging out lack of funds. pL is in a position of strength with the goodwill and community support built from a relegation season, really been a shield for the clubs ownership. Shame it's on the event of the season but our squad with all its injuries is still competitive so let's hope PL can get them up to it. If there is any change knocking around the pressure is on to back the manager and use it. |
| News Comment | New Judge Bid Rejected Report at 08:24:58
Ipswich signed the player despite relegation which many would have been surprised about probably with the ambition of him being a stand out in a promotion campaign, he would look a cut above in league one in quality. ‘If' the story has any truth the players draw to QPR would signify an opportunity to stay in the championship and reunite with a manager who Judge played his best football under. Again if true then the decision is do you want an unsettled player in the dressing room when you are trying to rebuild a positive atmosphere for a fresh start. Can't see the reason for the club or owner getting blamed for his so far, QPR have been disrespectful by attempting to unsettle the player with a derisory offer. Ideally judge would have come out and said he was happy here and looking for the season with us but probably not going to happen. The one thing that is true is even if we were given £1m for him there isn't anyone we can sign for that amount who would strengthen as at that level difficult to replace. Would like to see Judge here at the start of the season. His quality in creativity would have been exciting in league one . |
| News Comment | Leeds United 2-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 08:15:57
Very worrying. I can't see 3 teams with a squad less prepared for a relegation battle than us. We are a quarter of the way through the season and have no obvious strategy of even any closer to knowing our strongest side. It seems the supporters were listened to with a regime change and look at the pre season optimism of the posts around our recruitment it demonstrates that, despite wanting to see good football and being frustrated with treading water this experiment has failed to this point. Apparently statistically there is less chance after 15 games of a manager turning the form around than changing manager. Even if that happens I can't see there is a strong enough squad at this level to do anything about it. Happy to be proven wrong on all points but things are looking bleak! |
| News Comment | Exeter City 1-1 Ipswich Town (4-2 on pens) - Match Report at 22:23:51
Pretty sure overhaul of management, playing style and squad was the popular vision 6 months ago. Nothing has changed, before the end of the season most people expected this to be a long term challenging project and we wouldn't do anything this year, but with 9 inbound players lots of people became overly optimistic. Very early days, the town support staying together could be the difference between taking or dropping important points this season. There's enough youth and talent to have room to improve. Our season won't be made or broken at the Villa/derby games as most teams in the league will struggle but we need to break the cycle with a positive performance/result |
| News Comment | McCarthy: Everything Has its Cycle and I Think it’s Run its Term at 20:23:21
Pretty gutted really. Wish Mick was more respected for the job he achieved. The football was poor at times over the last couple of years but hampered by injuries and minimal investment. Seems a shame it's come to this. I feel Mick ‘got my Ipswich back' following Keane and Jewell's scattergun of loans and mercenaries we had a shoestring squad who had togetherness and a squad of player we recognise as Ipswich. I was in Birmingham for his first game and can remember the optimism even though were were about 6 points adrift at the bottom when he took over. I didn't mind the run ins with the fans, he was stable and predictable a |
| News Comment | McCarthy Denies Aiming Tirade at Fans at 20:59:45
I can't understand the moral outrage at MM's response to people who have seranaded him on Sky at Carrow Road with ‘f-off, your football is sh1t' after substituting an injured right back for a fit right back, in a game were he first half out manoeuvred his opposite number. I doubt the children in the crowd were that traumatised by it, they were too busy swinging from light fightings in the concourse. |
| News Comment | Ipswich Town 0-2 Fulham - Match Report at 17:42:28
No suprise. No centre backs against so 4 strikers against probably the best midfield in the league. Poor performance on the face of it but considering the circumstances it was an off day. Still a happy town fan. You can play no midfield against millwall but not against a side like that. Break and back to work. |
| News Comment | All-Change for Town at Palace at 21:57:14
Pleased to read this. With injuries and games played put out a new 11 and get them minutes. I wouldn't even worry about 'momentum' because nobody involved tomorrow is likely to be in the team for Fulham on Saturday. I would have expected something like this without the injuries and start to the season so I can't imagine anyone is going to be surprised. |
| News Comment | Ward: Fans in Great Voice at Millwall at 15:32:45
Enjoying the start to the season very much. Ward comes across like a good professional with a wise outlook. The atmosphere was starting to become toxic and understandably in some areas but I hope we are through that now and PR is a fun place to visit again. It shows the difference that some investment has made. I think it also goes to show that Mick is a better manager in this division that he possibly gets credit for when you look at how he worked for two years with scraps and didn't moan once about it and now he has a little quality you can see a change in direction. But rather than be devisive I would like to say it's great that the club are rebuilding bridges with the supporters with some of their decision making and the manager has been backed with recruitment. Early days and the fixtures have been kind but all we can do is get as many points on the board as possible and after 4 games it's been a near perfect start. Feel good factor returning |
