A rating for the performance of every club in the Champ during the TW.
at 17:42 14 Aug 2018

Complied by FourFourTwo, not myself.

Good read, mainly as it is always nice to finish above Norwich.

My last town game....
at 11:48 8 Apr 2018

I think yesterday was the last time I’ll watch Town. I genuinely love the club and have done since my first game in 1989, after travelling to last weeks non event at Birmingham I was excited about the prospect of yesterday’s game and although I felt it would be tough game I woke up very much looking forward to the occasion.
However, after politely suggesting that people stopped signing anti Mick songs ( a: because he’s already going and b: it was hardly going to galvanise the players ), I was subjected to a series of abuse that lasted almost the whole first half and well into the second. Not only as I physically threatened, I had to witness a good friend be shoved about, whilst also being warned about my safety post match where I was assured something bad would happen.
Now whilst I love the Town, I really can’t see myself going to a game again. The prospect of being associated with the supporters I encountered yesterday and enjoying the same moments of celebration as them no longer appeals to me.

Norwich game
at 07:52 6 Oct 2017

Are any town fans driving to the game from London on Sunday morning. I’m out Saturday night so it’s best that I don’t drive, but the trains look horrific. Happy to contribute petrol money, only need a lift there not back as I’ll stay in Suffolk for a few days of half term. I’ll even bring snacks.
Please let me know if any one can help out.
Thanks

Highlight of the day

Asides from Nydam playing well and proving what I've said about him previously....
Was seeing a Town fan in his car on the North Circular near Bounds Green, duely followed him to the next set of lights before winding down the window to exchange Town based pleasantries.
Felt great seeing a fellow blue out of context.
Wondering if it the driver was anyone on here? Black Fiat Punto 57 plate....

Right backs..... they're like buses

Callum Connolly on loan from Everton

Not sure what this says about Iorfa, Kenlock etc

My guess is that Mick likes Knudsen at LCB but doesn't fancy Kenlock at LB and this lad has come in for cover/gametime in that area. I'm only saying this because he wore number 3 for U20's and looks like he can play both sides.

Interesting set of circumstances......

Whilst I'm sure we'll only target one centre half addition, I do wonder if we are one of the clubs keen to sign him after Saturday's performance v Fulham.

My take on the game.
at 22:15 22 Aug 2017

The main emotion for all town fans should be feeling is pride this evening.
From Gerken through to Folami all of the players acquitted themselves exceptionally well tonight and as the two old boys behind me said, the future should be bright.
Gerken again proved himself to be a good shot stopper and led the team well throughout, he almost seemed surprised how often the young back four showed for the ball from him, credit to Klug there.
Woolfenden looked a very athletic right back, a bit agricultural but I don't recall anyone really beating him, reminded me of a young McCauley. Fowler very much reminded me of Chambers, but with much better quality in possession, highlighted why Arsenal were after him at a young age, although he did make one slight mistake but still a great performance. Nydam is quality and will be a player a Championship level or above, I've said that before and tonight just reaffirmed that.
Downes again stood out, like a combination of Holland and Skuse, with a meatier tackle, natural successor to Skuse. McDonnell also played very well in the first half, in fact possibly outshone Downes, but tired as the game went on.
Celina looks nothing like Fraser or Lawrence, like a Champ version of Ronaldo in his first year or two at Man U, lots of class, gave the ball away a couple of times but could link so well with Didzy and Garner.
Credit to Morris also for his part in the goal, outran three of their players and was composed enough to square the ball for Celina.
Ultimately a great night and a great performance from such a young team.
I caught a couple of Palace fans as we left who clearly thought we had most of our first XI playing as they remarked 'you can see why they are right up there, solid at the back and keep possession well'
Well done Mick and Klug/Nash too.
Support was great tonight too, loved the roar after they scored from our fans in an attempt to lift the lads too!

I thought I heard Mick say he was due to play until this morning and speak to the press, but I couldn't work out the rest...

New CB
at 17:21 17 Aug 2017

I know others have posted this, but I'd love it to be Grant Hanley, preferably a permanent but a loan would be ok too and is more realistic given his Newcastle wages ( I'm assuming these are high).
In my opinion he'd improve the back line in both the short and long term. Good age too.

Out of interest would anyone take Shackell on a free? Factoring in ex Norwich and age etc....

The reaction to tonight's game
at 13:36 15 Aug 2017

For me the reaction to tonight's game, win or lose is hugely important.
If we win, which is possible despite a heavily depleated spine, then we mustn't get carried away and heap pressure and expectation upon the team as this will only result in disappointment at a latter date. I'm not denying we should enjoy victories and allow ourselves some satisfaction, but we can't get carried away.
If we lose, however, it's important to remember we have numerous absentees, particularly through the middle of the team and Millwall can be a tricky place to go, particularly with only one fit Centre half. As such if we could try to avoid the inevitable Mick out comments that would be great.

Personally I think we are on for a top 10 finish and I'm looking forward to us growing as a club on and off the field again!

Team for Saturday
at 22:17 8 Aug 2017

Whilst enjoying the delights of the Croatian coast I thought I'd question people's preferred team for this coming Saturday...

Strangely I think we might actually revert back to 4-4-2 despite the fact 3-5-2 has worked well thus far.
Much will depend on the availability of Webster (and more importantly based upon our other midfield absentees ) Skuse.

If 4-4-2, I'd expect Bart-Spence-Chambers-Webster ( hopefully) Knudsen - Ward- Skuse -Downes- Celina - McGoldrick - Garner leaving Waghorn, Sears, Nydam , Rowe et al on bench.
If 3-5-2 Iorfa would probably replace Celina with the others shuffling around a bit.

Factoring in Huws and Tom A ( possibly Bishop too ) the squad is really looking much better than last year, it's also great to see Nydam perform well and Downes step up.

New to Forum
at 15:13 1 Aug 2017

Although not strictly true, after many many years of reading TWTD and enjoying the forum, I felt it was time to open an account, the main reason for this is due to relocation to London I know longer have the opportunity to discuss Town based issues like I did with my previous work colleagues

Anyway I thought the best way to introduce myself would be to share my preferred starting XI based upon our current squad.

3-5-2

Bart
Iorfa Chambers Webster
Spence Ward Dozzell Huws Nydam
McGoldrick
Garner

I've picked it mainly because I think 3 in the middle allows Huws, Ward and Dozzell the chance to flourish.
Defenders would struggle to pick up McGoldrick in the pockets of space he'd occupy, Garner is busy enough to occupy a back four. Iorfa gets the nod at the back as I believe his athleticism could bail him and others out. Chambers is best in a 3 at CB, Webster is class but has momentary lapses still ( QPR away ) so is best suited to a 3, Spence starts because he is solid in possession, overs cover at the back and end product. Nydam starts because he has the potential to be a lot better than both Kenlock ( overrated because he's an academy lad and isn't Knudsen ) and Knudsen ( woeful .
Ward is also best in the middle and Dozzell oozes class and deserves to be trusted.

This is purely opinion and I certainly won't be offended by what others believe, I'm also realistic to know that we'll play 4-4-2, Skuse will start, Sears will possibly play on the wing until Celina is fit and Dozzell won't be given an opportunity of a run of 5-6 games.
