Nesspointrunner.......Cheers for the tip,it was an excellent piece on Mckenna in the telegraph today. Unusual for the Telegraph who usually do not even recognise that teams outside London, Liverpool or Manchester exist unless you are owned by a film star. But then I thought. It was about a Spurs & Man Utd chap doing rather well and all was explained. |

It is because we have seen the dark days that this period in the light seems so bright. But for me it is as if the spirit of the club has returned. It's one we can all be proud of. Thank you to all of the above but also to all those supporters who never gave up hope. Nice bit on KMcK in the Telegraph today. |
| News Comment | Fans Urged to Stay Off the Pitch at 10:06:35
In '62 Dad said when the final whistle went nobody moved. The Chairman Mr John had arranged for a telephone to be put in the directors box. He had a contact at the Burnley game. He put the phone down, got to his feet and put his thumb up. The ground erupted and they all ran on the pitch. In '68 I ran on the pitch to celebrate winning Div 2, though I needed the help of my uncle to get over the wall. What is now the Cobbold stand had sunken terracing then. In '92 My daughter's first game and she thought it was normal for a silver cup to be awarded at the start of the game and everybody running on the pitch at the end. In 2001 at the end of the Bolton game we all ran onto the pitch. What is the problem with these people who want to stop it? It is almost a once in a generation thing. Lighten up. |

Two things. I have been a health and safety inspector for decades. The dangers from such a pitch invasion of injuries are negligible. On the same level as idiots who cancel street parties in case some one trips on a curb. If it does happen on Saturday it will be as a celebration and therefore peaceful. And low H&S risk. The other thing is that the powers that be dont want it to happen and so they will try to stop it not because of the risk but for their own gratification. So that they make rules that prevent a wholly celebratory thing. They make grand warnings. They will be telling us to be careful not to trip on the curbs next. |

Ahh I was close with Taylor. Thanks Exeter. Not bad memory for 47 years ago. Also I remember as we went into Villa Park late my Dad was being crushed so much in the tunnel to the stand that he started to pass out with lack of breathing. If I had not put my hand on his collar and held him up he would have collapsed and been trampled underfoot. Liverpool were not the only ones suffering. |

Beattie came back on with his arm in a sling and they moved Whymark to centre half where he played a good game. West Spam was in '75 at the "Neutral" ground of Stamford Bridge. Where we had two perfectly good goals disallowed by the Ref Taylor and Bobby Robson had a go at him afterwards in his book. We would have gone on to play 2nd div Fulham in the final. |

I remember taking the coach from Lowestoft to the FA Cup semifinal at Villa against Man City. It was only when the chap was half way down the A12 that we pointed out that Birmingham was thataway. He was off to Wembley. We arrived at Villa Park with 10 minutes to spare and then the driver wanted us to stop so that he could take pictures !! We lost to a goal from a foul that was n't ! Beattie broke his arm and Whymark played at No 6 with Beattie a lone striker with his arm strapped up. Then the coach ran out of fuel on the way back just outside Oulton Broad and we had to walk 5 miles into Lowestoft. Not what you might call a good day |

I am afraid these children have not read 1984 and are not aware of the threat of Big Brother. |

Bobby bought somebody every year. No more, no less, over his 13 years. He relied on bringing in experience while encouraging youth. This even in the top division while competing in Europe. But that takes time. Nobody is prepared to give time to establish a system. If it does not work immediately then it goes. Bring back the Cobbolds. Pass the white wine ...... |
| News Comment | McKenna: Norwood is an Important Part of the Squad at 17:12:55
Who was that player we had who played his skin off when he was trying to get a new contract and then was a completely useless afterwards ? We had to bail him out from his gambling debts. We must be aware that Nors has not impressed the last two managers. |
