| News Comment | Ipswich Town 2-2 Wigan Athletic - Match Report at 20:44:43
What was the point of Norwood coming on last night? He looked totally disinterested in playing and spent most of his time tying his bootlaces. At one point he was tying his laces and playing one of the Wigan players onside. Perhaps Keiron can teach him how to tie a double-knot before he gets on the pitch. |
| News Comment | McGreal Confirms Norwood Back Training With First Team Ahead of Wigan Trip at 16:44:36
While he is still at the club he should be available to play, if the manager decides to play him. There is no shortage of effort when he plays and he is a fiery character, which may inspire others around him to increase their enthusiasm. If he is in the shop window for January, then a good display would suit him as well as us. I would be happy to see him start, or on the bench against Wigan. |
| News Comment | Ashton: There Was a Concern From the Board on Performances and Results at 15:57:31
I think this is a sensible and considered decision by the board. Cook for some reason, seemed to have a problem in inspiring and enthusing the players. There was no noticeable improvement on his appointment last season, so it was assumed that the players we had were not good enough. The new players brought in are quite clearly good players, but I wonder if we discarded some equally good players at the same time. Wilson and Downes spring to mind. I am convinced that Ashton knows what he is doing and will find the best solution for our new manager and be able to convince them to come here. Along with a decent CV, they will be expected to be able to explain why things are not currently working and what they can do to improve the situation. I would hope that we would avoid any big names looking to use us as a stepping stone and instead find someone who wants to be part of the overall project of establishing Ipswich as a Premier League team. |
| News Comment | Ashton Writes to Fans at End of Town's Summer Recruitment Revolution at 23:27:49
This is incredible, how Ashton has managed to get all this business done is nothing short of a miracle. With the transfer window now closed, if he can use his energy and talents to improve the club in other areas too, we are in for a fantastic future. Unless I'm very much mistaken, we could be seeing the renaissance of the club we love. |
| News Comment | Chambers: Not Acceptable For This Club at 19:50:33
Can't drop Chambers as we have no right back? I believe that Woolfenden can play there and his passing ability is far superior to Chambers, he is younger and quicker and can run with the ball. Teams are aware of our weakness in both full-backs and exploit it every game. The fact that Woolfenden was laughing when we lost may be something to do with what a joke we are currently. |
| News Comment | Leeds and West Ham Baggott Talks Claim at 17:55:22
If I was the agent representing the player, then I would advise him to accept the highest offer open to him, as this would maximise my commission. If I was the player wishing to get game time, I would probably want to stay at Ipswich, though on a 2 year contract, just in case things weren't working out . He does look to be a good prospect and I hope he has good advice from someone other than his agent. |
| News Comment | Ipswich Town 2-3 Swindon Town - Match Report at 20:18:54
For several games now our two full backs have failed to make any impression on the game. To have one player not performing in the defence, we can often get away with it, but to have both our wings open for crosses is asking for trouble. Other players are hanging back to compensate for them which isolates the lone striker. Didn't understand why when it was obvious Jackson was struggling against their left back, Lambert/Taylor didn't switch him to the left to see if his pace could cause problems for their ageing right back. |
| News Comment | Lambert: We're Having a Hard Time at 20:43:50
Just to cheer everyone up, I thought I would sing this little song Any time you're Ipswich way Any evening, any day You will find our team Playing the Lambert way If you've only one up front Can't you see you cupid stunt? It's so hard to score Playing the Lambert way Our defence are so free and easy You can beat them as you pleasy Everyone likes to come down here Play us, beat us We can pass it round the back If we go forward it turns to crap Tactics are just little mints Playing the Lambert way |
| News Comment | Ipswich Town 2-1 Shrewsbury Town - Match Report at 21:03:29
We have some very good players, but I feel that having just one system of play severely limits our ability to respond to the unexpected, for example conceding an early lead like today. If for example we were able to switch to 5-3-2 by bringing Wolfenden on for Judge, it would have allowed Ward and Chambers to push up further, as they were in limbo for most of this game, hardly involved in either defending or attacking. An extra central defender would also have provided cover for the many errors seen today by McGuiness and Nsiala. I find that Jackson struggles as a lone striker so to have Sears playing closer to him might provide both players with more opportunities. |
