Sam Szmodics on Blackburn Rovers exit and Ipswich transfer
at 11:38 15 Jun 2025

Assume just as he's done a podcast. He said essentially the same without going into the same detail when he spoke to the media here during the season.

Charlie Warren - Felixstowe & Walton...
at 17:48 13 Jun 2025

We signed a couple from local sides, Walker Shabazz-Edwards from Brightlingsea Regent and Charlie Wood from Needham. Town will know all about Charlie Warren but evidently didn't make a move for whatever reason. Has done well to make a move to that level at 21.

Indeed. I think we're talking about games between the likes of Liverpool, Man City etc against newly promoted Premier League sides in the same way we used to look at First Division sides against lower league or even non-league teams in the third round of the FA Cup.

Kieran ahead of the last game:

Phillips and Townsend Still Out and Sickness in the Camp, But Szmodics Back in Training 23rd May 2025 14:44
Kalvin Phillips and Conor Townsend remain sidelined and there’s been some illness in the camp, but Sammie Szmodics is back training ahead of Sunday’s final game of the season at home to West Ham, while manager Kieran McKenna expects most of the Blues’ longer-term injured to be able to return at the start of pre-season training. 8

He is not going to Brentford
at 10:22 13 Jun 2025

Unless there becomes a deafening chorus of 'manager A is going club B' no one is going to make a statement distancing themselves from a job. For starters it seems a bit presumptious if that club has had no intention of approaching manager A, which as far as I'm aware at the moment is the case with Kieran and Brentford.

Hardly played in Kieran's first six months here, although he made a couple of positive comments about his attitude and said he's been unlucky not to be more involved.

No, not heard anything on that front.

The lack of noise, compared to last year, is one of the reasons I'm not panicking at the moment. The latter is certainly possible, but you would have thought they would have some idea on external candidates. As others have pointed out, perhaps notable Keith Andrews doesn't seem to have departed along with the other coaches.

I'm not getting too concerned re KM at the moment, incidentally.

They're very good friends. From what I've read, he's head of coaching/first-team coach at Brentford rather than assistant, so may not have felt he's ready for the role. I think Brentford saw him as the successor though.

If we're talking ex-players, Lee Bowyer's just left his role as Montserrat manager.

From what I'm hearing, probably not. Not ruling it out but don't get a sense of anything being in train or too much concern at Portman Road, as it stands at least. I think Justin Cochrane is probably going to get the Brentford job. That situation could change, of course.

Also would expect Kieran's representatives to have made more noise in the media if it was something he is very keen to progress, judging from last summer, although that may be complicated by Cochrane being one of his best friends. That could mean he's aware of the plans at Brentford as well, of course.

Had a few people ask where Facters has been lately, so gave him a shout. All fine, just having a bit of a break at the moment.
