Lambert: The Premier League Should Step In
at 10:42:47

Why on earth would the Premier League - whose clubs are also going to be financially constrained - give money to allow a near pointless finish to League 1? There are enough equitable ways to settle promotion & relegation. It's football, not life & death (sorry, Bill Shankly).

Posh Chairman Issues Statement on Behalf of Six Clubs Including Town
at 09:01:45

There will be quite a cost in playing games behind closed doors, at a time when clubs are already hugely impoverished. These game will have a small added risk plus be taking away scare resources e.g. ambulances. Just promote the top 3 based on points/game. Whatever you do, you're not going to please everyone.

Town Take Up Option on Dozzell's Contract
at 11:57:21

Given that Town may have next to no income for the next 12 months, most of the out of contract players will be released. Sensible to hang on to Dozzell for a year, though.

It's about money for the Premier League, but not for the Football League as clubs will lose money given the cost of playing games behind closed doors.

Sounds like he won't be signing permanently for Town then & no wonder we couldn't do a deal in January.

Finidi: Ipswich Spell Unfortunate
at 18:25:33

His debut was a few days before at Sunderland. He was a bit of a lost soul up front & was bullied off the ball, but when Pablo came on & Finidi moved to the right & found space we looked a threat. Unfortunately, GB didn't seem to learn from that game, although Finidi did play on the right a few days later at home to Derby.

PFA: Players Will Have to Share Financial Burden
at 08:33:44

Continuing to pay Premier League players an average of £3.5m a year, while putting non playing staff on furlough in order to get the taxpayer to fund them is not an attractive sight. While there are contractual issues, how come many clubs in Europe have imposed pay freezes or cuts e.g. Barcelona's taking a 70% pay cut?

Well done Phil. You managed to get through that without once mentioning that Neil Thompson used to be a nappy salesman. An unheralded signing by the derided John Duncan.

Town-Everton FA Cup Quarter-Final Classics Time Switch
at 17:12:31

McCall's sending off was a joke given the interpretation of the rules at the time - a classic "home decision", influenced by a baying crowd. We also suffered from a handball which would be given now but was harsh at the time. Town's last chance to win a major trophy - sad that this was 35 years ago!

O'Neill: Government and Governing Bodies Need to Help Football Clubs
at 17:01:24

Professional football is an "industry" where an few people are grossly overpaid, especially at the top level. The government does NOT need to help football. There are many more important industries of national importance which any sane government will prioritise. The absurdity of football's finances was shown by the way Barnet FC has laid off ALL their staff (most of whom will not be well paid) but has to continue to pay the players while they kick their heels.

Lambert: We Could Struggle to Keep Downes in the Summer

Downes may well be off after your dismal attempt to get the club promoted back to Division 2, Mr Lambert. We will also lose Dobra for a pittance, partly because you don't give him any game time.
