It will be interesting to see how the fast track player to ref programme works out. There have been lots of calls to get ex-players doing this but getting the right former players to apply seems to be the key.

Available for around £7m according to Alan Nixon (which I know will split opinion).

If Clarke is now beyond the budget he would seem to be a decent option. Improved under McKenna's coaching towards the end of the season when the pace of games slowed down and he had more time on the training ground.

We never know when contact between clubs is initiated, etc but just to give some indication of how long deals have taken for us this summer the list below shows how long it was between the first credible media story on us being after the player and the player signing for us:

Greaves - 24
Hutchinson - 33

Szmodics is currently 22 days and counting

Other clubs seem to be starting to do 'full' press conferences. Are we expecting one soon?

As I understand it there are lots more requirements to put this on in the Prem and provide access to players, etc.
