Obviously only a sample size of two for this season but we are currently moving the ball forward more quickly and making fewer passes in build up play. Will be interesting to see how this develops over the season.
Enjoyed the Kevin Mincher interview this morning. Interesting background and good to see he is involved with helping everyone at the club, not just the first team.
🎥 Kevin Mincher, the Club's Performance Coach, sat down with us to talk about his role with the Blues, his time at Town so far, and his involvement in this week's Loughborough training camp.
To go along with the EADT post about 'taking back our territory from Norwich' the Ipswich Foundation has just put out job adverts for another 11 roles.
Club is clearly putting at least some of its money where its mouth is.
Lots of talk about needing a marquee signing. Not needing a marquee signing. What on earth is a marquee signing.
Interested in who people think meets the following criteria:
1) Is a big enough name to warrant the term 'marquee'. 2) Would fit into our current set up? 3) Would want to join us? 4) Is feasible for us to sign based on wages/budget etc.
Personally not convinced there's a huge number that meet all of those criteria but interested to see who people do think fits the bill.
A QPR podcast has done a new interview with Dom Ball. The whole thing is worth a listen but at the beginning he talks about McKenna being a key reason he wanted to come and join us.
The more I listen to him the more I think he'll be a great character to have around the club. Hopefully he does some mentoring for some of our Academy players.
The Decision Notice for the planning application for the work has gone through. The conditions only appear to be that they stick to the construction management plan and drawings that they submitted.
Celina's chip unsurprisingly won the vote at the end of season dinner for goal of the season. Amazing goal but largely dependent on an individual effort (as were all of contenders for the EFL award).
What is everyone's team goal of the season?
Our third against Gillingham Away would be my pick
The Analyst website has a season review page including League One. One of the tabs lets you look at style of play. There's often talk of our style not being suited to League One so I plotted the current League position against each club on their chart.
All it really shows it that there isn't one style that works well in this league - you just have to execute your chosen style well.
One observation on opportunities for younger players is that with McKenna wanting to work with a smaller squad size then opportunities next season are likely to come in the EFL League Cup and assuming we don't promoted the Papa John's trophy.
Hopefully McKenna's approach will be about integrating a few promising younger players into the first team squad rather than a wholesale rotation.
Interesting tweet here showing how highly Celina is placed for both progressive passing and progressive dribbling in League One. Chaplin/Aluko also score highly.
Did an update of Attacking Midfielders in the AWRSS
This is how the L1 AMs look in the roles of Progressive Passers vs Progressive Dribblers.
Obviously a lot of crossover in the data which produces the correlation, but still a good way of finding some interesting talents pic.twitter.com/L4BXQ6tbqU
Looks like the club have submitted the planning permission that Mark Ashton talked about in the last fan forum. The documents aren't available online yet but probably will be in the next few days to see what the plans are but the details shown on the online platform are:
1. Partial demolition and alteration to South East corner 2. Alteration to Home & Away Dugouts 3. New 'Big Screen' over South East corner
