Thoughts from tonight.....
at 08:57 13 Jul 2022

Don't know about anyone else but I had forgotten just how good some of Lee Evans passing was, I know it was only his first game back so a little rusty to start with but thought he did well.

Ok. Opinions please. Morsy?

The kind of player he is I don’t think you notice as much as he’s not a “flare” player as such. I genuinely don’t think he have the ball away once today and was so calm on the ball, winning the ball back and so many clever turns in the middle of the park to create space. Much more to come from him I think.

I don't think for a second anyone is arguing that he is the main problem but watching him this season has been painful.

It's not the blatant errors that are the problem which are easily spotted it's the not coming for any crosses despite being 6'8, awful positioning, being so flat footed for a lot of the goals we concede and his atrocious kicking.

People will always say "He's a good shot stopper" which is literally the bare minimum you expect as a goalkeeper today. I think overall he is up there with the worst we've had, and whilst I don't think this is number 1 priority i think we do need to get a new keeper in.

Which goalkeeper/players would you like here next season?
at 14:06 23 Mar 2021

I disagree with this, i think people don't think he's that bad as he doesn't make that many glaring errors. He is however extremely flat footed and despite his massive stature rarely claims crosses to take the pressure off the back four. I've never seen a keeper of ours be absolutely rooted to the spot for so many of our goals.

I've never seen a more flat footed keeper in my entire life, 6'8 but still doesn't come and claim anything.

Agree, whilst he was guilty of holding on to the ball too much last night he's a player that can ghost past a man and the only other player we have that can do that is Bishop.

I know we've only seen flashes so far but I've liked what I've seen, has to be ahead of Sears surely. Always looking to take on a man or zip a pass forward.

Genuine question, of what we've seen this season would you rather have Huws or Dozzell playing?

This is absolute rubbish for a start. I'm too young to have seen Jason play so don't have this wistful nostalgia about seeing his son play that reminds me of him. For this reason i look at him as i do any other player not because of his Family background.

You can see the vision he has compared to the rest of our team and it is quite clear everyone else is not on the same wave length the majority of the time. I agree he's not the most physical player for this league but he was the only one of our midfielders last night looking for that quick forward pass from midfield, without him it is the slow sideways build up we have been used to.

Dozzell

Despite everything else about the game last night I was really impressed with him. Considering he was once again parachuted in from not playing since January he seemed to be the only player trying to get things working. His passing is a joy to watch and we simply do not have someone either the vision of a pass like him. I know there’s other aspects of his game that come in to question but I thought he really put a shift in tonight and deserves some credit for it.

Joe vs some lad from Ipswich Fanzone
at 21:34 6 Jan 2020

This guy is an absolute class A Tool. I actually think Ashley is a decent guy but the main reason I and a lot of people don’t watch his stuff is helmets like this being given an ego boost going on there every week.

Not based on today but Dozzell..

He’s been nowhere near it in any of the games I’ve seen him this season, games like Col U and Coventry in the Cup he should be running the show and he was awful.

Agreed, been thinking this for a few games. Great finish from Keane when he came on though and his touch is 1000x better than Norwood and can effectively lay others off when he’s on his game.

Norwood - Half season thoughts?
at 10:41 27 Dec 2019

I amongst many others was extremely excited at the thought of signing Norwood and genuinely thought he could be the answer to our striking problems. However as of late i seem to find myself becoming more and more frustrated each game i see him play and wonder if he can truly cut it at this level.

Lambert talks on ‘uncertain future’
at 18:19 26 Dec 2019

I heard from a friend earlier in the week who is good mates with the agents of a couple of our players who had passed on that Lambert was ready to walk as he wanted to get new players in in January but was going to get no backing.

Thought nothing of it at the time and just passed it off as another stupid rumour but who knows....

What did we think of three up top?
at 09:35 15 Dec 2019

Despite our obvious defensive shortcomings yesterday i do think in patches we played some of our best football in a while. Having Keane on the pitch and being able to fire the ball in to him at pace and him control and lay off is a massive advantage and i think we need to find a way of getting him in the team every week, maybe number 10 behind Jackson & Norwood?

Furthermore yesterday was the first time i've seen us for a while play some lovely one touch football and pass our way through a team. I know he's got some stick from yesterday but i think a big part of this was having Dozzell on the pitch. Whilst we all know he isn't the most physical player and obviously got robbed for one of their goals yesterday I'd like to see him get a run of games.

Does he wind defenders up that much though? Always seems to me he's the one that ends up wound up and get's booked for it. Agree we're a better team with him in still but think he could be a little smarter about it sometimes.

The thing that annoys me most is you can see from a mile off when he's going to give away a stupid foul, just cynical most of the time and does us no favours. I get that's part of his game and it's what you get with it but some of them are just so frustrating and unnecessary.

Whilst he can be awesome going forwards and believe he offers so much with his set piece deliveries at times I've not been overly impressed with his defensive work and think we should be stopping much more crosses coming in to our box from that side.
