| Forum Thread | Our two league defeats at 22:36 12 Dec 2023
Have both been followed up by four successive wins. Just ponder that for a moment. |
| Forum Thread | Home ticket sales timings at 13:51 9 Oct 2023
Can anyone explain the protocol with how far in advance of a game home tickets go on sale and whether this is announced in advance? For some games the club site seems to get the dates up a week or sale before sales start, but I went on today to see whether the dates for Swansea had been announced and found they'd started selling this morning! And that game isn't for another 5 weeks, which seems longer than for other games recently. I'm sure the chaos is at my end rather than the club's but any definitive answer would be helpful. |
| Forum Thread | How good (relatively) is McKenna? at 11:31 25 Sep 2023
Having this debate with my QPR supporting son yesterday. I honestly think he's in the top 5 in England right now. Which sounds crazy, as we're the 22nd best team, but outside of Guardiola, Ange, Klop, maybe Arteta I'm struggling to see many who wouldn't be a downgrade if they came here. Certainly he's got to be right up there as one of the best British managers currently. |
| Forum Thread | Loans at 16:08 11 Aug 2023
Reading the comments on possible loans for Baggott and Humphreys (broadly the benefits of regular games versus the benefits of training with our current set up), a thought occurred to me. Is there anything to stop a player going on loan somewhere but continuing to train all / part of the week with his parent club? You can see benefits for the player and the parent club. Less so for the receiving club but if it gets them a player who’d otherwise be out of reach then maybe they’re prepared to make the sacrifice. |
| Forum Thread | New membership scheme - two together at 18:23 11 Jul 2023
Does anyone know whether, under the new scheme, I can buy two tickets for myself and another member? Or do the two of us have to go onto the ticket site at exactly the same time to get seats next to each other? |
| Forum Thread | How many points for automatic promotion? at 13:04 6 Mar 2023
Even if Plymouth slip up in their next couple of games I can't see where they're going to drop more than a few after that. I know we need to concentrate on getting points ourselves and all that, but we could be needing not far off 100 to go up. That seems ridiculous. |
| Forum Thread | Blackout shirts available on Umbro site at 22:48 14 Dec 2022
Following a tip on here yesterday I went on the Umbro site. Third kit available in pretty much all sizes. Ordered yesterday and arrived this afternoon via DPD (and that was without choosing the “express delivery” option). If you want one in time for Christmas you know where to go. |
| Forum Thread | Finishing second in the group wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world at 08:39 26 Nov 2022
Not suggesting for a moment that England were any good last night but realistically Brazil and France have looked a cut above everyone else. If the goal is to avoid them for as long as possible then finishing second means we do that until the semis, assuming both win their groups. That said I think we’ll win the group, probably after a draw with Wales. |
| Forum Thread | Kit v Derby - Colour Blind fans at 15:47 11 Oct 2022
Not bothered one way or the other about whether we wear the black kit at home but having just looked at Derby's maroon third kit online it'll be difficult to distinguish from our kit. Not sure if that's because I'm colour blind or just that two dark kits look similar. TBH their white shirt would be a whole lot easier. |
| Forum Thread | Random Stat about last season at 17:16 9 Oct 2022
The discussion on here about the discussion on the Sheff Wed forum got me wondering when exactly our promotion bid failed last season, ie in hindsight what was the game where, even if we’d had won every game from there to the end of the season, we wouldn’t have been able to catch the automatic promotion spots / play off places. If my maths is correct automatic promotion was out of reach after we drew at Morecambe on 26 February and the play offs were gone after the Oxford draw (19 March). Obviously we didn’t know that at the time in either case. So although we celebrated the win at home to Plymouth and mourned the defeat against Cambridge in fact they made no difference, we were already too far behind. |
| Forum Thread | Interesting piece in The Athletic on transfers at 14:12 24 Jan 2020
And maybe relevant in the Downes / Wolf situation. An agent quoted as saying: "Once a billionaire owner says "He's not for sale" you are dead. Deal. Does. Not. Happen ...I don't mind a manager or CEO saying "not for sale" but if an owner says it, you ain't going nowhere because their own credibility is on the line and they don't want to be embarrassed" To be fair the article is in the context of players forcing transfers, but I suspect the 'owner's credibility and ego' angle is still the same. |
