Town without Bishop and Edwards
at 10:47 22 Jan 2021

The fact that Evans needed to tell him that at all is a fairly damning indictment of his ability to manage a football team. In true Lamberk style he's getting it totally wrong and appear to have turned a fairly straightforward mission statement into a millstone where he won't deviate from an ineffective system?

Yeah you're right fair comment, have edited my OP but the overall point still stands. While they've been out we've been crap, and we can't keep relying on one or two players to dig us out when the system and style of play clearly doesn't suit us.

Town without Bishop and Edwards
at 09:48 22 Jan 2021

Prior to Saturday, they had last both been fit and in the team at Sunderland on 3rd November. At that point they had 9 of our 17 league goals between them and the lions share of our assists.

Our record while they were out - P10 W3 D1 L6

You don't have to be a genius to see why we've signed Thomas and Harrop, but it was as plain as the nose on the end of my face earlier in the season that we would struggle badly if Bishop and Edwards couldn't stay fit and firing, so these signings smack of trying to paper over the cracks to me.

Why Lamberk can't see that this system simply doesn't work at this level and with the players at his disposal, is beyond me. But yeah, Marcus Evans football genius told him it's how we have to play?

We're still under the salary cap. That's the extent of Evans intent, to keep us where we're cheap to run.

Footballer wants to be good at football. Says he will kick the ball forwards, towards the opposition goal.

Mmm, isn't it?

I don't really understand who the Tories are trying to appeal to here. The vast majority of people on universal credit would be absolutely overjoyed to see it scrapped. I'm one of them.

What an utterly ridiculous answer that is. If you don't care, why are you still here?

I remember when he first joined....

I was (un)fortunate enough to go to the Portsmouth game. Lambert was like a coatstand on the touchline second half. Barely moved, barely spoke. When he first came in, I was impressed with how animated he was, screaming orders, kicking every ball. What's changed?

As I said on a thread the other day, all the noises that come out of the club are negative. Despite what he says, we get our excuses in early and repeat them often. This mentality clearly translates itself to what we see on the pitch. We lack and positive attitude, self-belief and a will to win. As soon as the going gets tough, we fold.

He's just done, and it's so painfully obvious that it makes the fact that he is still here embarrassing.

I think the only thing us fans can do is make Lamert's position untenable. Which is tough when we're not in the ground and able to make our voices heard in the traditional manner.

Lambert really is stealing a living as a result of covid. And our future is going down the pan in the process. I fear history will show his tenure here put the club back years.

Lincoln quietly signs player, Ipswich loudly complain about Covid testing

I see where you're coming from and I certainly agree that the two aren't mutually exclusive. I think I'm making a slightly different point to the OP, but he hasn't been back to expand upon what he wrote.

I would like to see less excuses/complaining and more progress on the pitch. While those two are not mutually exclusive, the teams that do more of the former generally seem to do less of the latter.

I agree, what's your point?

As someone else posted, we keep keeping on with largely the same group of players who put us here, while whining in to the press that the fixture schedule is absurd. The cup competitions are worthless and an inconvenience. The salary cap is too restrictive. Our injury crisis is holding us back.

It's always "if only this was right". Excuse after excuse.

I don't doubt these are challenging times, but the fact remains that we clearly lack the will to succeed. We get our excuses in early and often.

I think the OP makes a perfectly good point about the differing approach. It's not about signing more players, it's about one team getting on with it and doing whatever they need to do to get promoted, while the other is busy getting their excuses in and whining about the situation.

It's a matter of having the correct, winning mentality. We lack it, and have done for years.

Managers you would hate to see here more than Lambert

Because he is a highly competent, utterly partisan winner with a long proven track record?

You don't have to like the manager, so long as he is effective.

So, kids without laptops are now classed as vulnerable and can go to school
at 11:47 7 Jan 2021

Jesus wept, what a mess. So we had "btw you're testing" on the last day of term. Then "btw lockdown" on the first day of term. Now it's "btw everyone can claim vulnerable" by the end of the first week. I honestly don't think they could balls this up more if they tried.

School staff are scared and at the end of their rope. Nobody wants to come in. People are going off with anxiety left right and center. Testing still isn't in place. No staff to run the testing as everyone is either working from home, or occupied with students who are vulnerable so can't deliver the testing. Others don't want to come in unless they can be tested. And the test is less than 50% accurate anyway?

Honestly it's an utter sh!tshow.

£12.40 of that (or at least that was the figure last I checked) will be royal mail's utterly extortionate handling fee. They'll be making a killing over the next few months while people get to grips with the changes.
