EFL trophy fan boycott
at 09:57 12 Nov 2019

Something about it being a vehicle for Premier clubs to end up having B teams in the EFL, which would obviously have serious ramifications for other clubs.

Are EFL Trophy games available on ifollow to watch? (n/t)
at 09:41 12 Nov 2019

The app says the game tonight is "live on ifollow", but doesn't specify whether that's just commentary or actually available to watch. I suspect so though.

The fact that he's been trying to push this angle for more than a year makes it all the funnier.

Can't view that image host at work, is that the one the ends with something about "never lost at home"? Sounds like a good one if so but haven't been able to make the words out.

Nothing personal, I've always thought you seem like a good sort, but my work here is done.

Keep up the good work BA.

Will we sell Bart or hang on for next season!?
at 14:38 11 Nov 2019

When's his contract up? We should hold them to ransom if we possibly can, he'll be worth more in the summer with another full year impressing in the Championship and any lingering doubts about his fitness put to bed. Let's not forget how they tried to stiff us at the 11th hour.

I think it was a good start. It's a bit tricky to tell with a cup game, as you get a different mixture of fans anyway and the atmosphere usually suffers as a result. My 2p worth is try to mix more traditional songs with the new stuff a bit more, but keep on with the newer ones that stick. People are always slow to join in with newer chants, but you're likely to have more success if you're already leading from the front with the stuff people already know and are comfortable singing.

As has been said, the blue and white army chant really took hold during the second half when we were getting on top. Loved it. And don't be put off by the moaners, I'm sure you won't be, but they really are the vocal minority.

I think it would take a hell of a lot of smoke bombs being let off at once to have any significant amount of smoke drift to another stand without dissipating.

Whereabouts is your seat? You genuinely have my sympathy if the smoke on Saturday caused you problems, hopefully you're sat far enough away from the middle of the stand for it to be an issue.

Hullo, PC Plod is back.

Alcohol is dangerous, but it's not illegal to drink it. It's an offence to be drunk though! Laws eh?

Bit harsh, yes if they start turning up more often than anyone concerned by them (for health reasons or otherwise) can always choose to sit elsewhere. I don't think it's selfish to want to stay where you've been for years, however you can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs. Clearly the culture within the north stand is rapidly moving towards a less "family friendly" environment for want of a better phrase and this is bound to upset a few people. If the end result is we have a more vibrant matchday experience then I think we'll all benefit in the end, as will the team.

So it's specifically the legalities of it you're concerned with? You must have kittens every game, what with all the section 5 public order offences going on all around you.

So you're happy to flout ground regulations, just not ones backed up by law? You're happy for the club to pick and choose what they enforce when it suits you, but complain when it doesn't?

If the club chooses not to ban people for letting off a smoke bomb then that is their prerogative and anyone who goes into the SBRL would know before the game that this happens in that location.

Simple, isn't it.

I've never tried it, but I imagine if you spoke to a steward during the game they'd probably let you move to the upper tier if you need to sit. Some folk are only happy when they've got something to moan about, e.g. a remembrance day banner obscuring their view of the pitch before kickoff.

Yes I believe they do get hot at the business end, but so does a cup of tea. It's highly debatable whether the north stand could be considered a confined space and I've never seen anyone appear panicked by their use. We have a few anecdotal accounts, including my own, that we have asthma sufferers in the stand who are not adversely affected.

Are they significantly dangerous? I honestly don't think so. I do understand the argument, but I also think there is a strong element of people just getting upset by the kickback against a decade of portman road having become library-esque.

So is standing throughout the game in a seated area, care to answer my previous question?

I've never ever seen a flare let off at an Ipswich game and I would agree that those are dangerous. People see a smoke bomb and say "flare", as they don't know the difference. There is a lot of difference.

What, like how they clamp down on clubs who don't combat persistent standing in all seater stadia? I presume you sit all game in the north stand, oh paragon of virtue?

Take it up with the club then, rather than getting all keyboard warrior on here? At the moment, it appears the club are happy that the fans are enjoying themselves, rather than panicking that letting a bit of smoke off at the football is crime of the century and scores of folk are going to collapse/be horribly burned as a result.
