| Blog | Cycle of Hurt at 11:45 25 Nov 2020
It's hard not to see a club that has got nearly every big decision wrong and come out on the wrong side of almost every promotion or relegation fight over 19 years as being in anything other than terminal decline. The very obvious exception to that pattern of failure was the appointment of Mick McCarthy and his first few years here. |
| Blog | Some Mid-Season Thoughts at 09:29 18 Dec 2017
Is this the second best Town team under Marcus Evans? It is certainly starting to look that way, we have regained many of the elements that helped make us so successful in 2014/15: energy in midfield, pressing the opposition further forward, effective set-pieces and most importantly goals. |
| Blog | Where Are We Now? at 09:20 18 Jan 2017
Well, ultimately it is now a question of a change of manager now or at the end of the season. Mick McCarthy has dragged the cycle out to four years rather than the 18 months of his more hapless predecessors but there is clearly a need for a fresh approach at the club. |
| Blog | How Much Do We Need to Rip Up to Start Again? at 20:56 13 Mar 2016
That small amount of promise and hopefulness at the start of the year has been well and truly dashed and this looks like it’s going to be one of those frustrating seasons; one where Ipswich is competitive enough against all but the best sides in the division but just not good enough on a consistent basis to ever build the momentum necessary for a sustained promotion challenge. |
| Blog | Year End Review: How Do ITFC Compare to a Year Ago? at 11:55 31 Dec 2015
Just past the halfway point of this season with ITFC slowly picking up a bit of form, it feels an apposite time to compare where we were a year ago. I wrote something similar then and, although in retrospect, it was a little over optimistic it provides a good comparison. |
| Blog | A Happy New Year for ITFC at 10:09 31 Dec 2014
Well, 2014 comes to an end with ITFC in a position that not even the most optimistic of us would have predicted. True, we finished 2013 in the top six but that was a fleeting stay for only three days and we never looked too likely - three minutes at Watford apart - to finish there. Now, however, failure to finish in the top six would be disappointing and it's impossible not to wonder if we might just manage more than that. |
| Blog | Where Does This Football Club Go From Here? at 09:21 23 Sep 2012
Paul Jewell’s time at this club must now be as good as over but, whether he goes this week, in two months or at the end of the season, the malaise at this club is far deeper than a man who has tried hard but been nowhere near good enough. |
| Blog | [Blog] Is This Club Rotten From Top to Bottom? at 10:38 21 Aug 2011
Twelve goals conceded in two matches? Unfortunately it doesn’t take too long to remember when that last happened - on March 4th and 8th 1995. The second was a 3-0 defeat at Spurs. |
