Ipswich Town 1-2 Arsenal U21s - Match Report
at 11:24:51

My goodness me - how far we have fallen. The line up should have been more than good enough to beat a bunch of kids. Really worried about my beloved Club and the direction we are going in. Saturday was impressive so just hope that was a marker rather than last nights showing. I know fans knock this competition but is the only chance we have of a day out at Wembley which I am sure we would all love. Just hope we can overturn Gillingham and Crawley but won't hold my breath.

Lambert: We Have to Learn From Last Season
at 13:37:02

The first priority for the coming season is to sign a centre back to replace the hapless Chambers. How many goals did he cost us last season - too many. I have been a Chambers fan and he is a great Club man but in football there should be no sentiment and we need a no nonsense stopper next to Woolfie. Others need to step up to the plate notably Nolan who works hard with little at the end of it. I think Norwood and Jackson will work but they need a supply line and not just hoofball. We could also do with another striker but that may be asking too much. Agree with others the downfall last season started with rotation in the extreme. A few changes yes but Lambert made too many thus destroying the momentum. Top six is our first aim but I believe this will be a big challenge - here is hoping..

Marcus on the Spot in Moscow
at 20:48:21

Went to most of the European away days and the trip to Moscow was the best of them all. Not just for the football but for the sightseeing in Moscow. I remember getting off the bus at the stadium and being greeted by soldiers with guns which was a little scary. Yes it was eerie inside the vast stadium as most of the crowd were soldiers in uniform. I remember when sightseeing if you crossed the road when you shouldn't you were pulled to one side. Marvellous memories that can't be taken away from us. Sadly we are a million miles away from those kind of trips.

Earl: There Are a Lot of Points Left to Play For
at 19:07:56

The reason for our decline lays almost entirely at the feet of the Manager with his stupid rotation policy and inadequacies on the tactical front. He continually picks a team with no playmaker hence numerous sideways and back passing hence forwards get little or no service. I have not always been a Dozzell fan but surely he is better than that lot who turned up in midfield yesterday . Judge was a lost sole yesterday which is not surprising when he is stuck out wide. For a man who has managed huge Clubs as only he keeps telling us, his team selections and tactical changes have been nothing short of woeful.
I am not an Evans outer but heavens above giving Lambert a 5 year deal is absurd in the extreme. Can you imagine over 4 more years of this dross on the pitch and patronising remarks to us supporters. Unless something changes soon our beloved Club will be stuck in the lower leagues for years to come. Sorry to be so negative but apart from my family Ipswich Town F.C. is my life and at the moment in that regard life is terrible, and cannot see it getting better under the current regime.

Lambert: Were There Some Harsh Words There? Yes, But Not Over the Top
at 21:23:56

The biggest mistake Lambert has made is this stupid rotation of players. I said it at the outset and have been proved right. Team selection is vital and Lamberts selections are baffling. Judge is a very decent player but he is not a winger and should be in the hole behind the strikers. The midfield selections need at least one player who can pass a ball yet Lambert persists in the work horses i.e. Nolan (who has been poor of late) Skuse and Downes. Dozzell never gets a run in the team the one player possibly with Huws who can pass a ball but they never play regularly enough to cement their place and improve their football. It is no wonder that Norwood and Jackson get frustrated as no one feeds them with decent passes. After the stinker Norris had against Gillingham why did he retain his place as Holy should be number one and stay there until he loses form. The back four are also a concern apart from Woolfie who has been outstanding and there is no doubting we have greatly missed Vincent-Young. Lambert has much to ponder on but do I trust him to get things right - I'm not sure.

Lambert: First Challenge Set Tone of the Game
at 13:11:44

Selection policy has done us I'm afraid but Lambert continues to be as stubborn as our last Manager. Yesterday we did not have one creative player in midfield - OK Dozzell may not be the best but he has a pass in him. We have work horses but that alone is not enough. I am sick of the Lambert spin now and if we don't turn this around soon he should walk but there is little chance of that. Boxing day game is massive now - lose that and the alarm bells will ring even louder.

Ipswich Town 1-2 Coventry City - Match Report
at 22:23:15

If you are not careful Mr Lambert your honeymoon period will soon be over as your rotation system has failed miserably. You are slowly but surely destroying all the good work you have done with this stupid number of changes for each game we play. Just play your strongest team every match and if injuries ensue then change it. Similarly if poor form persists with any individual then change it but this constant 7/8/9 changes is not paying dividends. You have turned the Club around Mr. Lambert but if you are not careful you will lose the fans support. Saturday is crucial now - lose and I will be seriously worried.

Ipswich Town 0-0 Wycombe Wanderers - Match Report
at 23:23:15

Very average performance from Town tonight and Wycombe Wanderers got what they came for but should have got 3 points with the penalty. Words fail me with the performance of the Referee who was the worst of the worst we have had this season. Our disallowed goal had been given and the lino was going back to the halfway line for the restart. The referee bowed to pressure from the Wycombe players and ultimately the lino went in Wycombes favour - unbelievable. Fantastic penalty save from Holy gained us the point but I still maintain Lamberts rotation of players is backfiring as Chambo (who was poor tonight) has subtly indicated. We had not one creative player in midfield tonight which was crying out for Dozzell. I have not been too impressed with him this season but he has a pass in him to open up defences and we had none of that. Can't fault the effort of the players but effort alone will not get us promoted. Much to be done in the transfer window in January if we are to achieve our aim.

Town Draw Peterborough in Leasing.com Trophy
at 19:18:54

I despair because we did not play a strong enough team to beat Lincoln and have an unnecessary replay. I despair because we put a weak side out at Colchester and lose to our nearest rivals in a cup competition when there was no need as the first team had a 10 day break before Blackpool. I despair because Lambert has left too many senior players out when he could have used a sprinkling of them in both games. I love my Club and hate to see us lose when and whoever we play.

Town Draw Peterborough in Leasing.com Trophy
at 17:39:17

The last 8 days of Lamberts decisions have annoyed me intensely and if we lose against Lincoln with a weakened team and then Blackpool with players ring rusty from no involvement for 2 weeks the fans will really question Lamberts management or rather mismanagement. If he plays the same players at Peterborough in the EFL trophy as he did at Colchester we will probably lose that as well. I despair !!!!

Lambert: One or Two Young Lads May Play at Colchester
at 14:35:29

I wonder if you asked the Sunderland and Pompey fans whether they think the EFL trophy is a waste of time - I think not. I can understand trying to keep all our players reasonably fit and fersh but Saturday there were far too many changes and we have an extra fixture so that plan went well - not. Going back to the EFL trophy surely we would all like to be at home in the next round, so again why would we play basically a youth team ? I know promotion is a priority but as Saturday proved Lambert goes too far with the number of changes and it backfired. I can't fault Lambert for everything else he has done for the Club but this policy of making a ludicrous number of changes is baffling to me.

Accrington Stanley 2-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 21:05:30

Just home from that long trip and how disappointing the day was. Nice little ground and lovely people up there but heavens above we were dreadful. Hindsight a wonderful thing but Judge should have been sold for £650,000 - he was hopeless today. Just shows today that we do not have the squad good enough to cope with when our best 11 cannot be fielded. Have said all along Nsiala is a liability and so it proved today. Cannot understand why Lambert changed our favoured 4-4-2 system either as 3-5-2 does not work with what we have and so it proved as Accrington easily exploited our weaknesses. On to Wednesday which will present us with similar opposition who will work their socks off.
Just hope this is a blip and is a lesson to us that this league is not easy.

Fleetwood Town 0-1 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 19:33:17

JewelintheTown you obviously underestimate the standard of teams in League. No there are no Man Citys or Liverpools but there are 23 other highly competitive teams and decent teams at that. Its more of a battle in this league and in that respect we are matching teams and beating them. Give me 1-0 everyday of the week and I think there may be more of them to come which will do me fine.
Regarding Norwood he pulled up right in front of me before the game and was wincing. I for one did not think he would start and in hindsight he probably shouldn't have done.
In my opinion today was a first class away performance against one of our nearest rivals so whats not too like so sorry Jewellinthetown there will be more of today to come and long may it continue.
Our fans were fantastic again today and the players did them proud.

Lambert: Deserved Point, Some Good Moments, Some Not So Good Moments
at 19:05:11

Well done Town for coming back as I had given up hope. Chambo redeemed himself with the goal so hope the boo boys stay off his back now. If the penalty goes in it may have been 3 points with the momentum and if we can beat AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday it will be a satisfactory start in new territory against fancied opposition. Always said Donacien is nowhere near good enough and so it proved today. Hopefully we have solved the right back position with the Colchester lad, but badly need a commanding central defender as well. Lets turn up in numbers on Tuesday get behind the boys.

Ipswich Town 1-1 Sunderland - Match Report
at 20:30:22

Definitely 2 points dropped today as Sunderland were a very ordinary outfit and should have been buried in the first half. Unfortunately as so often with Ipswich Town we let the opposition off the hook and give away a dreadful goal. Enough has been said about the error strewn Chambers but had we been more clinical in front of goal in the first half Sunderland would have been out of site. Plusses for me were Garbutt and Downes and negatives were Judge who could not take a decent free kick today to save his life. If the back four is not sorted in this transfer window all the good work attack wise will go to waste. Rowe had a decent first half but ran out of steam hence little threat from the flanks in the second half. Jackson worked hard but lacks finesse that will hopefully come and Norwood will only improve with games at this level. Much to be pleased about in the first half but defensive frailties in general must be addressed quickly otherwise it could be a frustrating season. Finally brilliant atmosphere at Portman Road today just hope it will continue.

Elliott and Norris at Town to Conclude Loan Moves
at 16:25:29

Portman Terrorist - Bart was a bit of a disaster for us last season with 6 points literally thown away by him alone against Bristol City (H) and Millwall (H). Can't argue with his form in the 3 years previous but we needed a change and Holy looks to be a decent number one. Agree we need a couple of defenders notably a big unit at centre back. The defence as it stands does worry me I have to say. I Trust PL to get a couple more bodies in.

Woolfenden: Our Aim is to Win the League
at 12:34:30

If we do not sort our defence out there is no chance of top six let alone automatic promotion. Don't think we will get them but we need a right back as do not rate Donacien at all and the jury is still out for me on Emmanuel. Bart is just not the goalkeeper he used to be so hoping Holy Holy cuts to the chase. Central defence is so important and to me what we have does not look good enough even at Division One level. Chambers struggled last season and Woolfie will do well to play a full season so definitely want a centre back if not two. We are well equipped in midfield but I do worry that Lambert will play only one up top which does not work as proved last season. Would like Murphy to come back but doubt it will happen. Personally I am worried about the coming season and make no mistake Div One will not be easy. Sorry if I am being negative but at the moment it looks a big ask with what we have to finish top 2.

Harrison's Pompey Move Confirmed
at 18:58:46

This could be a mistake especially selling him to a promotion rival. Not happy that we have lost more money on the transaction but I guess he did not prove himself one way or another. We still need a right back so spend the money on a decent defender. Donacian looks ordinary and Accrington even moved him into midfield on occasions. I personally do not rate Emmanuel either but only my opinion and hope he can shine if given the opportunity. Hopefully Mr Lambert knows what he is doing - time will tell.

Harrison at Pompey and Closing in on Move
at 16:45:32

Not happy with this scenario at all. What little we saw of Harrison in my opinion he was better than Jackson. No he did not impress very often but was hardly given a chance. Selling him to Portsmouth will I fear come back to haunt us. Just hope I'm wrong.

Chambo: Supporters Will Expect a Reaction
at 13:21:45

First and foremost we need to get the defence and goalkeeping positions right - hopefully Holy will solve the goalkeeping problem. We conceded so many cheap goals last season it was unbelievable. Still not sure we have the answers for a solid and dependable back line at the moment. The jury is still out on Nsiala for me and is Chambers the dominating centre back we need - I am not so sure ? A great Club man and motivator but will that be enough ? This new adventure is not going to be easy so it is vital that we win most of our home games and with our support we can do it. Agree with others top 6 at least is the priority.
