Lambert: I Don't Know if Downes Wanted to Play Today
Sounds like Downes is in the process of burning his bridges with the club. That's the risk associated with a transfer request. Clearly, his head has been turned but I'm not convinced Palace will meet Town's valuation. Their derisory offers suggest they see Downes as a bit of punt. I think he is being very badly advised.
Let him sit it out. As good a player as he is, we're not exactly short of decent midfield options. We don't need anyone who wants to be elsewhere.
Town Launch New Home Kit
It's a lovely kit and I much prefer the old badge. The shirt is a 'must buy' for my son and I.
The only downside is the blue shorts. I appreciate the historical significance of them and it's fine for a season, but Town's shorts should always be white.
Lambert: The Best Performance Since I've Been at Town
Best performance? Not for me, but a good display of character after what could have been a demoralising early setback. The best I've seen Alan Judge. We need to see more to of this. Also, we need to be more clinical in front of goal. Despite scoring four we wasted a number of good chances, often let down by poor touches.
A confidence-boosting result going forward but against a poor side.
Lambert: No Complaints, We Didn't Do Enough
Our inability to beat any of the top eight in this division is all on Lambert. Tactically he's not up to it, this being apparent since early in his tenure. Being a motivator only gets a manager so far.
That five year contract didn't - and still doesn't - look too clever.
Lambert: First Challenge Set Tone of the Game
Just get back to 4-4-2 and a settled line-up. It worked well for us those first couple of months of the season. It may not be the formation of choice for the hipsters but all that matters is getting out of this division.
Lambert: Worst Performance in My Time Here
Rotation is clearly the number one issue here, but look past that and you see a team that has yet to beat a good side in this division, has laboured to single goal victories over poor sides and has a pretty rubbish home record in the league.
We have a deep squad with quality and dross in equal measure and a manager that is often found wanting as a tactician. There's no settled side and no clear style of play being fostered. No wonder the players often look like a bunch of strangers.
Coventry City 1-1 Ipswich Town - Match Report
I have my doubts about Lambert as a tactician. Can't help but feel we've coasted along by virtue of our squad depth and superior fitness over some of these sides, but against the stronger teams in the division we have been found wanting. It seems inappropriate to moan given our league position but I feel this side is nowhere near as good as some think it is and this will become evident in the coming months. We have quality in the squad, I just don't feel it is being utilised effectively and the constant rotation is unsettling.
Ipswich Town 0-0 Doncaster Rovers - Match Report
A fair result against a side that should be around the top 6 come May. Doncaster are organised, kept it tight and pressed hard. They had chances to nick it, but then, so did we.
I'm just not sure we have enough quality to break down sides like this. Also, we've played three sides that are genuine promotion contenders and have failed to beat any of them.
A lot of work to do. Nobody should be getting carried away just yet.
Bolton Could Be Liquidated as Takeover Collapses
A desperately sad situation, completely of Bolton's own making, but you have to feel for the fans of a proud club, similar in stature to ourselves. The Premier League shouldn't be blamed for this but the disparity between the 'haves' and 'have-nots' in English football is a result of the success of the Premier League. Bolton won't be the last club to end up in this mess, living beyond their means to try to get back to the top table.
