To be fair, when we signed Davis, he'd had a hard time with injuries. The same goes for Broadhead. Look at them now...
You've got to take these risks to get quality in the door. Without their injuries, I doubt they'd be here. |

The problem is, we literally cannot "attack this league" shopping in the same UK market as clubs selling players for 10's of millions or with parachute payments.
I'm hoping we just haven't had time to build an international scouting network yet, otherwise, our approach seems a little naive to me. It would be like Brighton shopping in the same market as Chelsea or City.
Of course I think we'll be competitive with the current squad but depending on the ambition, we may need to be a little smarter with recruitment at some point - see Brighton and Brentford. |

Fishing in a different pool now with lots of big competition.
Definitely struggling to land top targets, but lets see.
I hope we at least have plans to expand our scouting network to Europe at some point. |

Thank goodness you're not on our coaching staff then.
They've seen Humphrey's day in day out for over a year now and have chosen to bring Hutchinson in for a reason.
Hutchinson hasn't had his breakthrough game yet, but we've already seen his first touch is a joke and he carries the ball with ease. Just enjoy the ride and enjoy it whilst we've got him. |

Went after the game, it was decent, especially the fries, but took around 45 mins to get our order and it didn't even seem overly busy. |

Much of our defensive quality last season was down to our control of the game and the ball. We pretty much dominated territory against every team, such that our defence rarely faced an onslaught.
We'll certainly face more spells this season with our backs against the wall where we really need to weather a storm and come out the other side unscathed. This is will be a big test for the back 4. |

I think the last bit is key. If you look at the clubs who have the best success with sustainable models of player trading, they all utilise extremely clever worldwide scouting.
Shopping in UK markets where everything is known about every player, it's going to be very difficult to find under-valued players. Usually these are over-valued if anything.
I hope our lack of movement outside of the UK is just because it is early days, but I think we will need to be smarter going forwards. |

For the record I still think we'll have a decent season, but lets not forget that it took an incredible January and best in the world run of form to get us over the line. One signing of which we chased all summer and didn't get until Jan. |
