Former Liverpool, Leeds, Wigan and Cardiff Man Joins Town as Club Secretary
at 19:58:19

I wonder how much this may have to do with missing out on signing a centre forward in the January transfer window. Was it down to poor admin? Personally I think you should be doing business much earlier but do feel that the poor lady maybe being made a scapegoat for poor management!

Best Joins Blues
at 13:30:12

Ok here goes!

First of all I hope Leon Best does well for us and proves doubters wrong.
If we're looking for a replacement for Murphy then why not try Cameron Jerome! Not sure that lot up the A140 would want to sell him. They have just got Nelson Olivveira in. Always been a handful to play against and has similar attributes to Murphy.
I'm not usually a supporter of transfers between the two clubs but I think this one would work.

Brentford 2-4 Town - Match Report
at 23:36:53

Great game to be at. Good atmosphere, great goal from Tommy, great from Murphy, liked the way we closed opponents down and a mention to the referee who I thought had a great game all but one decision towards the end with the booking to N Hunt.

Halcyon Days, People, Halcyon Days! - Notes for Bournemouth
at 01:06:16

I was at this game last season. if anyone parks their car outside the stadium have patience getting out ! I couldn't believe how long it took as it is such a small ground.

I would be happy with a point. Good team with a good manager.

Your Chance to Play at Portman Road
at 14:36:18

I played in this last year as a treat to myself for my 40th. For any Town fan that can afford it I would say do it whilst they continue to run it.
The standard is varied. From 40/50 something's to younger players. That doesn't mean to say that the older ones aren't any worse than the younger ones. We played out a 1-0 game which apparently is rare. I put it down to 2 very good goalkeepers!
Anyone that is playing, have a great day and pace yourself well. There is still the penalty shoot out at the end of the game.

Millwall 1-0 Town
at 22:48:38

I've been to 3 games this season. That's not of a lack of support, it's to do with my own personal rant on football pricing on supporters!
The games I've been to ITFC and their opponents have all been poor. We are a Championship club, not a great one but also not poor enough to go down.
MM is a good manager and with the right players he could do a good job in trying to get us promoted. At the moment I don't want to go up as I feel we would get absolutely smashed next season. I work with far to many Premiership supporters to get stick all season.
My point is we have maybe two or three premiership classed players and until we get some more we all might aswell get used to more years in the championship.

AFC Bournemouth 1-1 Town
at 10:45:02

First away game for me in ages. I thought it was an ok game. What is worrying is that they all looked so knackered with 30 mins still left to play. Luke Hyam played ok and covered so much of the pitch, yes there was a few misplaced passes but no worse than anyone else. Towards the end apart from Taylor Hyam was still running at the end.
Well done to the lad at half time in the cross bar challenge. Great entertainment and even had the home fans applauding.
Anyone planning to goto Bournemouth again by car get there early and get a parking space close to the exit !!!!

Very happy with this. My old Grandad was from Waterford and I was there earlier in the year. I hope he sparkles as good as the crystal from over there.

Chopra Still Planning to Stay at Town
at 13:02:44

A bit late on the thread but here's my take on it.

I don't care what he does in his spare time, I just want him to score goals and try hard on the pitch for Ipswich. He is in his last year at Ipswich so therefor will be either busting a gut for a new contract or trying to impress another club to actually want him !

If football is changing with financial fair play then footballers contracts should change also. If there is evidence of gross misconduct then sack him and escort him of the premises or if he isn't up to his job then put him on a notice to improve and see if there is a change !

Cresswell: Smith or Chambers Player of the Year
at 22:06:14

I'm really torn on this one. It is definitely going to be one of the two. I have seen Tommy score two in a game and in the same match Luke do some quality defending. I'll keep thinking for a week or if I've still not decided it'll come down to the flip of a coin !!!

Half-Empty (or Half-Full)
at 11:36:37

A very good blog. I agree that since the two end stands have been built the atmosphere hasn't been the same. There have been many great games with great support coming from all areas of the ground. My personal favourite was the playoff semi final against Bolton. When I eventually got out of the North stand my ears were ringing.
I have done a blog on attendances and I still believe that with a good game of football a good atmosphere can be generated.
The other thing is also moving the away supporters which will never happen as the police don't want it.
My last point is for English football grounds to have small areas for standing. Lower tiers either side of the goal but not behind for safety reasons.

Crowds and Revenue

Ipswichjon.

What Walsall are doing is fantastic and is exactly the point I was trying to get to by doing the blog. If more clubs could do this sort of thing it would be great. I will keep an eye on Walsall's ground now on the football league show to see if their ground looks near full ! I suppose a club like them has a lot of competition for supporters with quite a few clubs around the Birmingham/ Wolves area.

Crowds and Revenue

Thank you both for responding with very good comments.

After writing the blog I realised that football is competing with many other sports and social ticketing events. The price of tickets are sometimes even in comparison.

Here's just a thought though. I like my music and go to the odd gig here and there, a price for a band at the O2 arena will cost quite a bit but a ticket at the UEA to see a lesser well known band will cost a lot less.

I haven't done loads of research on this but surely prices for football should go in a similar way. Ipswich seem to have ticket prices similar to some Premiership teams without offering Premiership style football.

I actually went yesterday to the Bolton game and luckily didn't have to pay for my ticket ( genererous Uncle ). Again in support of my first blog I thought both teams were of a poor standard. The supporters around me were getting quite vocal in there anger. I now just wonder, will these people still buy season tickets next year !

Football is strange, I know I'll still go to the odd game because I'm still passionate about ITFC.

Iamsparticus, your point on offering schools tickets for free I do believe is happening at the club already. Up in the Sir Alf Ramsey stand many youth clubs are in attendance. It is a great point though. Sitting up there most of these kids don't support ITFC. But with a run of games who knows.

My points are made in frustration on not just the club but the price of everything just seems to be going up and my wage rise doesn't go anywhere near being able to afford luxuries like football tickets.

Town Move for Scottish Keeper
at 14:56:46

Thank you for the clip PJewallisagod. He looks a great keeper from those clips. I still like Loach but he still doesn't make me feel like he's first choice. The keepers position at Portman road has been a bit of a problem since Kelvin Davis left. It would be great to see someone cement the No1 jersey as their own. I hope Loach can prove me wrong.

Blackburn Rovers 1-0 Town

I think we will be in or around the relegation zone until the end of the season. The table is so tight that one minute you can half way then next your either looking at relegation or play offs !!

The one thing I am a bit annoyed about is that 80 minutes last week we just stopped and didn't go for more goals. If it does go down to last game and goal difference then we may regret not going on to score more.

I would just like to mention Luke Chambers. He did a bit of defending in the second half that was pure class.

Tommy Smith with two goals and a comical tumble towards the end, brilliant.

U18s Beat Bristol City in Youth Cup
at 09:27:43

Well done boys. Also a well done to MM and TC for making the trip down there. I'm getting happier and happier with how our season is going both with the first team and youth team . I would like to see a few of theses lads pushing for first team spots or at least the bench. I hope that some of them are training with the first team. I did see somewhere that there was a practice match between the squad does anyone know who was playing on each of the sides ( we're there any of these lads playing).
