Worrying
at 21:23 3 Dec 2024

Beginning to worry more and more now. We've looked a bit toothless going forward lately unless Delap/Szmodics/Omari pull some magic out of the bag.

One win in fourteen is not going to cut it, not even close. We can't keep hoping everyone else loses every week, they won't!

What an incredible player. If nothing else, worth staying up just so that we can get him for 10 million - some bargain

Forest away pub
at 18:57 28 Nov 2024

Hi all,

Anyone got any idea of pub(s) that are stoppable-in en route from the station to the ground? We are going to Hooters for a bit of food (just the food) beforehand, then looking at which pubs we can visit before and after...

Cheers

Since they don't get much credit - Anthony Taylor was superb today. Let the game flow, didn't disrupt with silly yellow cards, got every call spot on really.

Niche football moments you enjoy
at 08:59 10 Nov 2024

Bored on the train to London and having a discussion with a mate. Whatā€™s some niche/finer things in football crowds that you really enjoy?

My pick - when youā€™re on top, and win a corner, and thereā€™s a resounding COME ONNNN from the crowd. Even better if the opposition clear the ball and itā€™s at your CBā€™s feet on halfway with a ā€œcome onā€

My pals - a good rendition of Edward Ebeneezer on an awayday.

Bowel cancer advice/support
at 21:58 2 Nov 2024

Hi all

Just looking to see if anybody has any experience dealing with a family member or even themselves with bowel cancer?

Unfortunately news broke this morning that my mother in her early 50's has been diagnosed with it. Never nice to hear the C word and it's a very scary thing as you can imagine. I know it's a 40mm tumour (no clue how abnormal that is, trying to clue up on it as we speak really!) but they're confident it has not spread to any lymph nodes which is a good sign.

If you can comment/pm me then I'd really appreciate it as I'm googling stuff but finding a lot of conflicting information and trying to figure out how I can best support her though her treatment and the hardship of living with it.

Thanks guys :)

PS today's ref was shocking...

Square Pegs, Round Holes?
at 20:48 19 Oct 2024

Another slightly worrying thing for me is that we donā€™t seem to be playing to most of our new signingā€™s strengths at all. Itā€™s got an air of the title of this post about it.

Szmodics - top champ scorer through the middle playing off the striker, cast out wide left.

Jack Clarke - great cutter inside from the left as heā€™s shown a few times (think Wimbledon away he did it a few times, had a shot against Villa which nearly went in cutting in, Villa did well a few times cutting in), but playing as an inside forward. Also hasnā€™t got the same defensive capabilities and seems to forget to track back and provide support.

Leif - see previous point, Clarke affecting his ability to be used on the overlap, registering him a bit ineffective at times

Ogbene - rapid, wants to get in behind and use his power, getting given the ball to feet and not being played in behind at all really when he plays. Sort of similar to Burns in a way

Itā€™s worrying me and I think itā€™s a big reason as to why things arenā€™t quite clicking in attack and we look a bit confused at times. Iā€™m sure the plan is that these players will adapt, but Iā€™d have liked to see a bit more aclimatisation after eight games gone in the PL.

Jack Clarke

I am starting to be a bit worried by him starting on the left. Looked good on the eye v Villa but yet to see anything from him otherwise. Very poor in last two, just looks terribly lightweight, pushed off the ball far too easy and struggles to make much of an impact in tight spaces.

And before anyone comments it, no I'm not writing him off

Have they got a lot of injuries today or something? Top of the league and you can get them to win + over one goal in match at nearly evens vs a team who's GD is 1:19...doesn't seem right!

32 Free Kicks today
at 23:58 21 Sep 2024

I thought the ref was really poor today. 32 free kicks (avg of 20.9 in the PL/game) in a game that wasn't dirty in the slightest really, just seemed to blow up for everything.

Which was made even weirder when he let 3/4 challenges from both sides go that then went onto lead to the mini 'brawl' of handbags at dawn.

Fantastic afternoon though, Sam Morsy, build the f**king statue. A true club hero

Our country is really in the gutter
at 20:55 31 Jul 2024

Just seen it's kicked off at Downing Street tonight too.

Honestly, when will it end. I don't have kids yet but am planning on it in 5-6 years time, and it just makes me wonder - is it actually worth bringing children up in this nation any more?

I log into my social feed on X or Facebook, which I want to use for just looking at football related goodness, and it's constant 'stabbing here' this, 'riot here' that. I even saw one in Christchurch park from today. A sleepy, Suffolk town like Ipswich is not even safe any more.

Large groups of just pure hatred, anger and a lot more, from all walks of life, nationalities, positions on the political spectrum having it out with police and rioting. Constant stabbings and just more horrible things in the news.

It makes me wonder how many common sense, kind, nice, middle-ground people we are leaving in the world. It seems to just be heading in a complete split of opinion all over the place.

Call this the 'positive news story thread' or something.
We were once the greatest nation in the world. Now, we're in disarray. Upsetting.

Social media is playing a huge part in all of this too, a massive problem.

If someone can link me some good news stories they've seen from this week, I'd genuinely appreciate it and it might cheer me up a bit. I haven't read anything in what seems like forever that really makes me smile.

If anyone is watching this debate.

What an absolute clown she really is, completely out of touch, clueless. Getting literally laughed at every time she answers a question.
