McCarthy Praises Evans For His Patience
at 14:28:27

Anyone else left slightly ashamed after reading those last few paragraphs, regardless of whether you were a part of it or you were 'just booing the ref'?

Let it never happen again; onwards and upwards (sidewards wouldn't be so bad either)!

Now that's the kind of attitude that I like to see Dozzells Bobblehat! Treat every game as a knockout and who knows where we'll be come June :)

@ BlueBadger what an absolutely pathetic comment! It really riles my goat when people are so ruddy impatient - if we haven't signed anyone by the end of the week then I think we will all be able to sympathise a bit more with your opinions.

Now friends, and I'd like to consider us all friends on this forum, let's get behind the team on Saturday and grab those 3 points! COYB

HUZZAH we're on a role now boys! Ipswich-Crazy remember it's Evans that ultimately dictates transfer policy with regards to wage structure. He's most probably sought advice on this front, certainly not from Clegg. If Clegg were tasked with signing a player for £100k a week then he'd undoubtedly do so.

Where Clegg has possibly failed to deliver is in his enthusiasm and ability to sell the club to prospective players. This is I imagine the central part he has to play in transfer dealings: convincing player and agent that Ipswich is the most attractive move. Obviously money has a large part to play in this, but if Clegg fails to sign someone on this basis then who can blame him? Why should anyone be blamed, for that matter? Throw money at your targets and you'll be exploited by selling clubs for years to come: imagine the price Cisse may have fetched if Man City had been sniffing around him and not Newcastle.* We need to be sensible and if you can't recognise the investment Evans has already made then perhaps you need to look again. This is not to support, defend or criticise the manner in which he's approached investment since he's arrived, but to question the amount of dosh he's already sunk into itfc would be amiss.

That we're in competition with a host of other clubs for various signatures is simply a sign that we're offering competitive contracts. We're a mid-table championship club in an average location - we unsurprisingly lack the pulling power to dive in and seize a target without throwing stupid money about. The likelihood that we'll lose out on all the players we've been linked with is similar to the chances of us signing them all. Providing the marketing team isn't a complete shambles (we've had enough practice at signing players in the last few years!) then some players should come. Equally many inevitably won't - imagine if you were a footballer with the whole summer to reflect on a move and sigificant interest from many clubs in the same league: would you make an instant move or weigh up the field a bit? Common sense chaps, COYB

*could have had a buy-out clause, not necessarily the best example

Town Gunning for Dundee United Defender

Seen this guy play this season, can't remember him particularly which is always a good sign. The opposition was dire though, truly truly poor. Makes you appreciate how overused that adjective is when you go to see a Dunfermline match that's for sure.

Ahh Mullet, ever the performer you are. More pompous than Michael Winner at a dinner party in Aberdeen but nevertheless well done. You remind me of how I used to write before deciding to tone down the penache. Digging the swag even if others won't, Upbeat x

Sharp Thanks Fans

He deserved that recognition, simple as. That's not to say that our fans aren't great, just that I expected nothing less from the Ipswich faithful (or from the majority of home crowds that could have greeted Doncaster that day). I hope that Billy found some comfort on that stage - it looked like he did at least.

Best of luck Chops, you've got a fantastic club, a quality manager (more importantly, an outstanding bloke), a close-knit squad and the football league behind you. You can definitely beat this, really well done for taking the first steps.

Tune for the Town?

As far as Asa's song goes, I'd prefer it played before and after the match or at halftime.

My second option would of course be legoman's recording of the GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAALA Paraguayan bloke, accompanied by South American trumpets.

That or a piece of music where the words need to be shouted out by us.

Thinking about it, no, just no.
