Murphy: Town Fans Were Fantastic
at 23:11:56

All the best, Murph!

You are a top pro, have been a great servant for our club and deserve the opportunity at Newcastle. The performances and goals in the 2014-15 season especially will live long in the memory for many a Town fan!

Hope you have a good end to your playing career and maybe see you back at PR some day!

Murphy Completes Newcastle Move
at 14:40:54

Sad to see Murph go, but on the face of it it seems a good deal for all parties. He's been a great servant to ITFC, his contribution will always be fondly remembered, especially during the 2014/15 season with those 27 goals - I really felt if we'd have just invested a bit more heavily in that January and pushed on it might have seen us over the line, but as usual it didn't happen and here we are.

No one can deny him the move, he fully deserves the opportunity and I for one wish him all the best. I think we will miss his presence, hold up play and overall game just as much as his goals.

I just hope we spend/re-invest the money wisely, that's the only worry, especially with deadline day being so close. We still ideally needed a striker prior to him leaving but we probably need 2 now, and at least one other midfielder.

Could be an interesting few days.

McCarthy: Thank F**k for That!
at 23:41:25

That's exactly what I said at full time too! Classic Mick, and well done lads - that was much more like it, although Bolton did seem poor it's still a good result and the win we so desperately needed! Hopefully tonight will start off another good run and we can kick on from here. Bring on the Rotherham. COYB!

Town Topic: Memories of Royle Appointment
at 12:49:21

Entertaining, attacking, free-flowing football, which we are seeing very little of at present, sadly. Yes, our defence wasn't the best back then, but with the likes of Miller, Magilton, Reuser, Currie, Pabs, plus Benty and Kuqi all running the show it didn't really matter. Joe Royle did a great job for us considering the circumstances, shame we missed out to West Ham in the play offs.

Varney Undergoing Surgery
at 23:26:51

Really like Varney, he's a real McCarthy player, always gives his all - I hope he makes a speedy recovery and that we offer him a contract of some sort, (regardless of league) as he can certainly do a job for us!

McCarthy: They Were Ready for Us
at 01:33:23

A few years away from being Premiership ready? Really? I understand what you're saying algarvefan, but we've been trying for the best part of 13 years, is that not long enough? We're the longest serving Championship club. This season is the best chance we've had for a very long time and I do feel it is our year! Yes, we'd need a few new players were we to go up, but I think we proved against a top side in Southampton that we can compete, it would just be a matter of building on what we've already got. I don't see anyone leaving by the end of Jan, but my worry is if we do fall short come May, we may see the likes of Mings, Bishop etc snapped up by Prem clubs then if we don't make it there ourselves! Hopefully that won't be the case however. We're having a great season though and if this is our "blip" then it's probably a good time to have it so that we can get it out of the way, ready for a strong finish to the season. A couple more additions to the squad over the coming weeks and we won't be far off, with 4 very "winnable" home games between now and the end of Feb! Put tonight behind us, rest up, re-group and bring on the Wigan! COYB!

Kenny Signing Confirmed
at 14:27:25

Shrewd move by Mick once more! Maybe one or two of us would have chosen a different keeper, but Kenny has been there and done it and is a good choice imo. He will provide good competition and healthy back-up, especially over the next few weeks whilst Gerks is out. I'm sure Crowe has a bright future and his time will come, but should anything happen to Bialkowski anytime soon, (at this point in our season and with where we are in the league) I for one would rather have an experienced keeper in between the sticks with 500+ league appearances under his belt and 2 promotions, over a 19 year old who has 0. 3 more points tomorrow please! COYB's!!!
