| News Comment | Lambert: I Couldn’t Have Asked Any More of Them, They Gave Us Everything at 07:31:32
What a massive breath of fresh air.As has been said positivity breeds ennoyment.PL applauded good play and thumbs up to players when trying something good/tactically aware.Watching the warm up was even better with all units being put through a series of appropriate drills not same old same old!!!Thought Roberts was a revelation as was Downes. With another weeks training looking forward to home game at Reading(nice and local!!)Thanks to everyone for givibg me a positive 2 hour return journey:its been a long time coming |
| News Comment | Swansea City 2-3 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 22:29:20
Finally........what Ipswich is all about.A brilliant all round team display:winning first and second ball, supporting each other and last ditch tackles.I don't really care about who should have won(apparently!!)because when anyone checks the score it was 3 2 and the points were ours.A positive base to build on after the break.Lets not forget the position we are in and the large travelling support who got behind the lads from start to finish and out sung the Welsh!!!I love these away days. |
| News Comment | Blues Legend Beattie Dies at 18:05:33
RIP Big Man and True Gent. Also,in an era when the word Legend is used all too often Kevin Beattie fitted the description and meaning. Many happy memories of standing in North Stand listening to announcement of solid back 5;Cooper,Burley,Mills,Hunter,BEATTIE.Also,April 1975,beating West Ham 4-1 and The Beat picking up the ball on halfway surging forward and scoring from 25 yards.Oh to have such thoughts and memories today!! Play for Kevin on Tuesday, next Saturday and for the remainder of the season. |
| News Comment | Rotherham United 1-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 12:41:26
2 games in and the vultures are circling!!!!For what it's worth I have enjoyed watching some of the football Paul Hurst is getting town to play. With a different ref etc yesterday things could have been so different. The time to judge is nearer Xmas(is halfway through the season).Remember where Fulham were at similar stage last season. Closer to home the fans of similar age to me will remember Sir Bobbys first couple of seasons. The Cobbolds/ fans got behind him and the team. The rest is history. |
| News Comment | Town 1-0 Birmingham - Match Report at 08:54:32
A very positive opening game of the season.I thought the system worked well and helped by impressive performances from Chambers,Skuse,Sears and Garner. However, what a debut from young Downes. It was tragic the circumstances he made his debut(all the best Andre for a speedy recovery)but he certainly made an impact.Lets hope he doesn't disappear like Hyam and Bishop. With regards to Garner hope the crowd listens to lyrics of Glad all Over to develop the chant(or even Rangers fans!!!) |
| News Comment | Burton Albion 1-2 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 12:20:13
Enjoyable night out at new ground with good old fashioned terracing!!!!!We struggled at times against Burtons game plan and high pressing.I think once we reverted to 3 5 2 there was some good football and we could have scored more than 2.As regards the future I think we need to keep the same team for Monday to go at Newcastle. However why can't we include Crowe,Emmanuel,Rowe,Bishop,Dozzell,Williams,Moore Benyu against Rotherham to see what we've really got by way of a squad next season.Slightly concerned that according to papers we are linked with Karl Henry.Surely younger players are the way forward?Well done again last night.Onwards to Sir Bobby Robson Day. |
| News Comment | Fulham 3-1 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 20:11:02
Well done Harry/Horry for organising the boats;superb entertainment before the game and many fans looking forward to a positive result. What a shame that the players can't/won't deliver in front of a massive away support.Excellent chance for Didz just before half time which would have got us back in the game. This was followed by others in the 2nd half.It raises possible questions;are these players really up to the challenge, has MM lost the changing room? What team is he going to put out on Friday? For the sanity of us travelling fans and the wider ITFC support hope it's the best X1.We have to make Evans understand that he's helping to make our team a laughing stock:it's not too much to ask we just want our Ipswich back!!! |
| News Comment | Town Announce 2017/18 Season Ticket Prices at 17:47:59
Thanks for that!!!!Just when I was preparing(along with many others)to make the most of Over 60 concession. How is it that fans can go to Old Trafford for only £80 more per season?(just one example from the Premier League)Even better you get a season ticket at Bayern Munich for £105 with £130 membership fee.We used to be a family club with proud traditions and the ability to entice large crowds. What's happened?Where are the Cobbold Family when we need them?!!!Hopefully one day fairly soon Evans and Milne will take note of what the true supporters feel and take appropriate positive action.Do i hold my breath?!! |
| News Comment | Norwich City 1-1 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 17:34:23
I think the stat which was revealed today re transfer spending in the last 4 years puts a lot in perspective(50 million against under 2 million). It was so good to see a battling performance today and playing for the shirt. Its a long time since I have witnessed such a display from Skuse in the middle of the park.Bart was his usual immense, player of the season self.It is clear that Chambers is happier being a round peg in round hole!!!!!Mcgoldrick was different class reminding us of 2/3 seasons ago.Well done to staff, players and fans.Another happy return journey!!!With present formation what could happen with Webster,Emmanuel,Dozzell,Bishop,Lawrence returning? In case some fans missed today's honest chant 15 years in the Championship,We're still famous and Norwich are s##t!!! |
| News Comment | Brighton and Hove Albion 1-1 Ipswich Town - Full-Time at 22:07:28
Couldn't agree more Martin587 re 2 happy return journeys in 4 days looking forward to Saturdays trip as well.Looks like we are without Lawrence for a couple of games will be interesting to see what replacement MM goes with.Seems like there's a new found confidence not only with the players but also the fans.Lets just keep the momentum going and finish the season on a positive note.COYB!! |
| News Comment | Ipswich Town 3-2 Blackburn Rovers - Match Report at 09:42:47
Agree with many of the positive comments on here.I enjoyed yesterday's game(and not just because we won!!)We continue to have the leagues best keeper, the system looked good but will take time for players to get used to.Its fine having wing backs but when they get forward there needs to be cover at the back and a decent attacking cross delivered. It was obvious that Blackburn exploited our left:Knudsen went forward and Berra couldn't cover because he is a defensive centre half and not a ball player(hence their first goal). The midfield looked positive especially with Skuse,Dozzell, and Lawrence driving us forward.I thought that Freddie upset their back 4 all afternoon.Lets be honest we should have had 3 or 4 by half timeJust be happy we won, have signed a player and were helped with our support in SBR Lower by some very friendly Dusseldorf fans.Well done to all.Oh forgot to mention our friends north of the border!!! |
| News Comment | Ipswich Town 2-1 Bristol City - Match Report at 00:12:37
How much better was tonight's return journey than Boxing Day?!!I don't know if anyone at the club reads comments on this forum but tonight it certainly seems that way.Much improved team selection, tactics, pressing the opposition and playing the ball on the floor.I thought Kenlock,Bru and McGoldrick made a massive difference. This was complimented by positive/inspired substitutions and a wonder goal to win the game.More of the same at QPR will do nicely. Credit where it's due tonight and I totally agree with the half full brigade!! Happy New Year to everyone. |
| News Comment | Town Linked With Loan Move for Fulham Striker at 17:15:51
No disrespect to the lad but if hes not in Fulham squad why are we willing to take him?How about spending some money on a striker who can find the net;Billy Sharp(who took an instant liking to Town a few seasons back after the trauma of personal loss and the way he was greeted) or Akinde at Barnet who ripped our defence to pieces in pre season friendly.Failing that what about Wickham/Rhodes helping us out for a few months?!! |
| News Comment | Ipswich Town 0-2 Fulham - Match Report at 22:00:38
I see there is some honour left in football. The Port Vale manager has resigned after their latest defeat and things not going to plan!!!Could it happen in Suffolk? |
| News Comment | Ipswich Town 0-2 Fulham - Match Report at 20:59:51
Like many on this site I've supported Ipswich for years(54!!)and will continue to do so(250 mile round trip today). However, all I will say after today:thank God for Bart, the only player in back 4 who is comfortable on the ball is Webster,Skuse doing the job of 2 in midfield, why were Lawrence and Sears playing as extra full backs, why is Dozzell frightened to express himself and have natural talent coached out of him,why not play the ball to Pitmans feet and support him?At least Didz made a slight difference but Best would struggle at non league level! In the words of fans around me in Sir Bobby Robson Lower "we just want our Ipswich back".Surely Evans,Milne,McCarthy can see what the honourable course of action is.I doubt if they'll be more than 14000 of us there on Friday.Hope my New Years wish comes true!!!!! |
| News Comment | Bristol City 2-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 21:41:37
A 4 hour round trip last Saturday left me feeling really positive.A 4 hour round trip today induced negative thoughts and bewilderment. This away fixture has always been one of the best for away support and atmosphere along with Norwich,Watford,Charlton,Fulham etc.Today it was dead from start to finish. The game was there for the taking.A non penalty and a strike which could have gone anywhere!!!!The difference was one team moving the ball forwards and supporting each other, against a team playing crab football with wingers not choosing to attack down the flank.Bart was his usual self,Webster was immense bringing the ball out of defence and taking players on,and Didz running his socks off(however he is obviously frustrated at play and his personal lack of goals as he's now shooting from anywhere!!)I've coached youth football for many years and it seriously isn't difficult to teach full backs to show a winger inside to avoid being beaten and a cross delivered(please take note Mr Chambers and Mr Knudsen!!)Our midfield was missing so the back 4 often had 5/6 attacking them.As for the substitutions too little too late;Freddie/Williams both tried to add some spark but don't quite know what Best is doing. If Dozzell doesn't play soon he will be off like Rhodes/Wickham.Something needs addressing quickly because I seriously think some players have lost pride in wearing the shirt and feel their selection in the team is a definite as opposed to an honour!!!I have tried to remain positive but struggle after watching that today. How did a team with Tabb,Hunt,Hunt,Anderson,Chaplow in it play with so much more positivity only 2 years ago?Onward to next Saturday hoping for better. |
| News Comment | Ipswich Town 3-0 QPR - Match Report at 10:29:34
Still it carries on.3hard won points and apparently it's about Lady Luck!!!!!In life you make your own luck(right place right time).Still the Mick out brigade pursue their cause:question again who would they like as a replacement? I am sure there will be a strong contingent of us at Bristol next week wanting more of the same etc etc.If it doesn't happen then we move on.Isnt that the life of a football fan? After 50 years I have no intention of stopping(and there are many others who feel the same).COYB |
| News Comment | Ipswich Town 3-0 QPR - Match Report at 19:43:02
I think to make realistic comments you had to be there.Yes everyone around me in Sir Bobby Robson Lower was moaning about team selection but I think Mick set up as such for a reason.QPR the most physical/nightly team I've watched for a very long time. How they finished with 11on the pitch I don't know(especially after Perch's tackle on Knudsen). With regards to lucky goals you make your own luck;Wards perseverance,Varney chasing a lost cause,Lawrence right place right time.I the final 15 Didz could have scored a hat trick!!!!!!Lets be positive about the battling display where the players gave all for the shirt.I just worry how much longer it will be until Webster follows Cresswell and Mings. Looking forward to trip to Bristol next week.COYB Would still like to know who MM haters fancy as our next manager. |
| News Comment | Chambers: Probably Our Best Performance of the Season at 20:24:04
Good to see an element of positivity returning.Tempzzzzz please give your mate a pat on the back re Jonny Williams chant.Have often wondered if anyone could come up with our own version of Liverpool chant re All around the fields of Anfield Road-----just change to Portman Road!!!!!Anything to bring back a bit of atmosphere as away games seem so much better!!!!!COYB |
