I reckon it's all economics. Let's say if there was no discount on ticket prices the club could expect a crowd of 10,000.
Let's say the discount incentive encourages an increase in attendance of 20%, to 12,000 and everyone attending pays the same price of $17,50. The club would make $210k in gate receipts.
If the club dropped the prices to $10 a game, the club would need an attendance of 21,000 to make the same amount.
I know it's a simplified equation and doesn't take into account concessions and kids but I think the point is they will have thought hard about how to price the tickets and ultimately it will come down to what pricing makes the most revenue for the club. |
