I remember sitting on the grass in front of the West Stand when we beat Man Utd 4-0. What a win that was against a team with George Best, Bobby Charlton, Nobby Styles and Dennis Law. I was also lucky enough to see us beat them 6-0 about 10 years later, though I was North Stand regular by then! |

I recall him being an uncompromising, tough tackling right back. I was playing right back for my school in the late 60s / early 70s so he became a bit of a favourite of mine. |

Hi Pete, despite my user name I've been in Pattaya for the past 9 months. Actually visited Phuket for a long weekend last month. Count me in. When I was in Qatar there were 4 of us Town fans who would meet up occasionally in Champions sports bar. Yesterday the UK had the third highest new cases in the world and the numbers are still growing daily with many experts predicting 50-70,000 by the end of the month. So the government decides to lift all control measure and rely on the good sense of the British people!! Hospital admissions are up 24% over the past 7 days and though less people are dying of Covid, thank God, we're in a parlous situation. Contrast this with Australia who have localised lockdowns by city for 2 weeks at a time when there is an outbreak of a couple of dozen new cases. A massive mistake to remove all remaining control measures in my humble opinion ... |

Yeah, just logged into iFollow and checked and you’re right! Should have read the whole article before jumping in and paying ... Makes no sense not to allow overseas supporters to use iFollow and make a small financial contribution to the club!! |

My first car was a green Triumph Herald soft top bought in December 1974 from a small garage on Layer Road, Colchester about 300 yards from the old ground. FLH316C. Left it outside my mums house (Nacton!!!) when I was posted to Germany in May ‘75. Later that year she was so fed up with it being on the verge she gave it away. My fault ... if only I’d kept it .... | Forum Reply | Shin splints... at 11:14 18 Jun 2019
From my experiences many years ago when I was playing either football or squash 4 or 5 times a week and running every day I would recommend seeing a specialist if the symptoms persist. I was diagnosed many time with shin spilts by my GP who recommended rest as the only cure but after a couple of years of intense activities and frequent rest periods of a couple of months each time I eventually got a referral to see a specialist. He very quickly diagnosed anterior compartment syndrome and following successful compartment release surgery on both lower legs and 3 months of Physio I was cured and have not suffered since. I’m not suggesting you have the same condition but my point is to get a referral to see a specialist. FWIW I was told by my specialist that in broad terms shin splints are generally associated with the lower inner shin area, whereas anterior compartment syndrome the pain and numbness is generally associated with the middle to lower outsides of the shins. Good luck in resolving the root cause of your ailment. |
| Forum Reply | So it's Paderborn on 6th July at 18:29 24 May 2019
I lived in Bielefeld for 6 years and Paderborn for 3 years when I was in the Army. Both are nice towns, Bielefeld in particular. Bielefeld were previously in the Bundesliga and I had some great times with the vocal local fans, drinking beer in the stands throughout the game! I’m looking forward to returning for this game! (There’s a small airport near Paderborn where I used to fly to Stansted from, but no idea what routes are available nowadays.) |
| Forum Reply | Anyone been to Lucerne... at 19:49 7 Dec 2018
I’ve been living/working in Zürich for the past 3 years (must change my username!) and been to Lucerne and Pilatus a number of times. It’s where I take family and friends when they visit. I would recommend you take a ferry from Lucerne to Alpnachstad and take the steepest cog train in the world up to the top of Pilatus. The ferry terminal is opposite the train station and it takes about an hour. Time for beer or a glass of wine or two taking in the stunning views. There’s a restaurant, cafe, shops and even a hotel at the top of Pilatus. Also a few not too strenuous walks that would take a couple of hours at most at strolling pace taking lots of pics. Then take the cable car down the other side of the mountain to the outskirts of Lucerne, stopping if you want at the first station for another stroll and a toboggan ride if that’s of interest. Bus back to Lucerne Centre, all well signed. Lucerne itself is a beautiful town to explore. |

My first live game yesterday! I talked with a number of people around me about the season so far and this game in particular; all said that Skuse had yet another anonymous game. He contributed very little again and seemed to coast through the game, as apparently he’s done all season. Personally I don’t recall any of the interceptions or last ditch tackles that he’s famed for and certainly no incisive passing. I would expect one of our few seasoned pros contributing far more than he did. |
