Town Confirm Gray Signing as Williamson and Bort Pen Deals
at 21:51:08

@superblues9 yes it would appear (whispers from the right places) that he's had a medical today, passed and signing permanent deal.

McKenna: No Getting Away From It, Four Wins From 15 is Not Good Enough
at 07:50:48

Agree with others that this is not good enough but also that it is progress from a year or two ago, and still very much a work in progress. We want entertaining football but Tippy tippy football is not entertaining if it doesn't go anywhere. Perhaps we are in a period of cementing our possession play but now desperately need to learn how to actually attack. Yes, one way to score goals is to pass the ball into the net but we need to be able to be less predictable and use other ways to score (and there are many ways, long targeted balls, loading a wing, running at opposition and going past players, set pieces, shooting in ways that maximise scoring and rebound chances, etc etc). The question is are the players not capable of this or is there no attacking coaching team that can build on the possession.

McKenna: Proud of the Players, Proud of the Spirit

My personal highlight of the match- Fabio Wardley waving his belts at the Posh supporters. Also, I think we've been practising our shooting a little bit.

Around 25,000 Seats Sold For Portsmouth
at 22:02:31

Botesdaleblue the area below the away fans is set aside for away fans with mobility issues. The corner by the screen is now being utilised. Capacity of stands- Sir Bobby 7032, Cobbold 6676 (including the 30 Executive boxes), Sir Alf 7209, Magnus 8756 (this includes all 3 tiers but I don't know if it includes Director's box, players lounge and the 13 Executive boxes!) Which, if my maths is correct, gives a total of 29,673

Fiftieth Anniversary of Beattie's Town Debut
at 16:10:14

Agreed Merthyrblue, a great way to spend 40 minutes. My first game was 3 years later so I saw how great Beat was, but that was an unbelievable debut! At Old Trafford, absolutely bossed it, got an assist (in modern money) and hit the bar. Enjoyed watching Viljoen and Whymark too. Mills just as I remembered.

Hughes Close to Torquay Loan Switch

And he'll get to admire the herds of majestic wilderbeest, or perhaps the hanging gardens of Babylon while he's in Torquay (Ok you need to be of a certain vintage to appreciate that comment). Seems a decent opportunity for him.

Colchester Owner Cowling Hits Out at Mindless Thugs
at 20:37:19

There is definitely a new generation of young wanna-be hooligans these days. It started a few years ago but is much worse since the COVID break. Some people don't seem to like the family atmosphere at Football clubs in the 2020s and would rather go back to the 70s. Yes, it was the young and drunk Col U fans yesterday that made trouble, but it was disappointing to see so many older Col U fans, and even some families, applauding their actions.

Burgess: Frustrating One to Take
at 20:24:23

Featherhead agreed in part. However our inability to rest tired and injured players in 80-81, due to very small squad size was probably the reason we didn't win the treble. And also the reason why most of the great players from the 70s/80s hobble around as a result of constant use of painkillers during their career. From what I saw yesterday, Colchester wanted it more.

SEH BAC to Sponsor New Dugouts
at 20:46:48

Re a big screen, it would also help (along with a PA system you can actually hear) to be more involved with the half-time interviews. Never have a clue what they're saying or if I'm looking at a famous boxer or just some bloke near the tunnel.

Portman Road to Go Cashless

I have no strong views on this either way, but I if people go to PR with no cash in their pockets (as is probably mostly the case these days anyway), it must make it tricky for the charities outside with collection buckets.

Town Confirm Ball Signing
at 20:51:18

Monkey_Blue Re Adidas, I was under the impression a few months ago that Town had been unable to make contact with Adidas(!) and Adidas have had well publicised supply chain issues in the last year or so. Don't know if there's more to it than that though.

Burns: Season Probably at Its End Now
at 14:44:57

It's probably a positive thing that they're are lots of areas town can, and need to, improve. Obviously the left side isn't functioning as well as the right and set pieces need to produce more goals. However the biggest area to improve is wing able to quickly get the ball from midfield to strikers. We take far to much time (have slow feet and telegraph passes/run into dead ends) and nearly always fail to spot the runs made by the strikers. Therefore it's very difficult, for fans anyway, to really assess how good the forwards are. Obviously KMcK is aware of this and more.

Ashton: We're Going to Rejig Some of the Training Ground in the Summer

Blueandtruesince82 yes, it's always puzzled me why new players kept saying that. There's very little in the way of facilities there and it's not really been fit for purpose for years.

McKenna: A Striker of Mariner's Ilk Will Never Go Out of Fashion
at 21:17:22

As a junior blue, with a season ticket seat near the half way line, I used to love watching Mariner trying to sneak into the opposition half just before the ref blew for kick-off. Once he almost got as far as the opposition 18 yard line - the ref didn't notice until the opponents starting shouting angrily. Happy days.

McKenna: We’ve Seen Some Good Returns and Good Numbers So Far
at 19:04:49

There was a time when Pass Completion stats for each player were given pride of place at the training ground. The result of that seemed to be players playing the easy pass (usually short and backwards and sideways) which, of course, eventually led to pressure at the back. It's good to see that data seems to be being used more wisely now.

McKenna: Having 7,000 at MK Will Be Special
at 17:56:22

I believe the capacity at Stadium MK is about 30k and they average 9k per match, so presumably there are plenty of tickets available to allocate to visiting clubs. Sell more tickets, make more money. And it's not very far from Suffolk, a couple of hours drive. Still a great effort from everyone travelling and should be a good game.
