Who exactly ARE the indigenous people of Britain?
at 13:47 29 Jul 2025

If you can trace your DNA back to one of the original tribes below then you can say you are of indigenous descent...

01: Caledones
02: Taexali
03: Carvetii
04: Venicones
05: Epidii
06: Damnonii
07: Novantae
08: Selgovae
09: Votadini
10: Brigantes
11: Parisi
12: Cornovii
13: Deceangli
14: Ordovices
15: Corieltauvi
16: Iceni
17: Demetae
18: Catuvellauni
19: Silures
20: Dubunni
21: Dumnonii
22: Durotriges
23: Belgae
24: Atrebates
25: Regni
26: Cantiaci
27: Trinovantes

These are the tribes that existed prior to the Roman invasion in 55 BCE which you could say was the first colonisation of Britain.

Album Of The Day
at 11:23 23 Jul 2025

New suggestion - open to anyone, share your album of the day.

Today my album is New Order's Technique - released in 1989 and recorded in Ibiza, it tapped heavily into the Balearic dance scene which began in the late 80s.

Usually I listen to rock and indie, but I have to admit I occasionally listen to a bit of Dua Lipa. I first heard her when she did a great set at Glasto last year so if the odd track creeps into my Spotify daily mix, I'll happily give a listen.

Be The One is my fave though. Pure unadulterated pop.

My niece's birthday yesterday, so I asked her what little Beyonce would like for a present. She said she was into Frozen stuff, so I got her some peas and oven chips.

Neurodiversity - a natural occurrence
at 11:59 14 Jul 2025

After I got a bee's nest in my garden, I became fascinated by how bees work. The beekeeper who came to collect them told me some interesting facts about bees and I was amazed how awesome these little creatures are so have been reading up on them. One thing I have discovered is among the worker bees - the ones who go off and look for pollen sources - you will occasionally get one who is neurodivergent. IE. One who doesn't follow the hive mind and goes off and does his own thing. These bees are actually fundamental to the survival and growth of the hive as these bees will discover new pollen sources to ensure the future of the hive.

Follow me for more interesting bee facts.

Pulp seem to be favourites now. Apparently Jarvis Cocker is there and did a DJ set yesterday. Could be a little warm up gig for Oasis too though...

AirBnB Question...
at 09:36 27 Jun 2025

Off to Spain on Sunday (supposedly) and have booked an AirBnB for 10 days. The host is ignoring my messages to organise check-in for Sunday evening - just keeps saying "will text you tomorrow" for last few days, and it has now gone past the point where I can cancel and get a refund. I am a noob on AirBnB - only used it a couple of times previously. I am getting the impression he is trying to pull a fast one and am not impressed he's ignoring my messages - it feels like he's deliberately put me off until the cancellation period is done. I am getting concerned that he's going to fob me off and dont want to turn up on sunday and have nowhere to stay. What recourse do I have with AirBnB? Have paid nearly 2k for the AirbnB so dont want to lose that amount of money :(

Still at Panathinaikos. Didn't have as prolific a season in terms of goals scored so might quell interest from big European clubs.

Burnley back in the prem
at 09:39 12 Jun 2025

I will be interested to see if they can get a foothold in the league this time around. They have basically done what we hope to do next season and return straight back to the premier league, hopefully with lessons learned and wiser for it. If they go down again, it will be concerning that the gap between Championship and Premier League is pretty much insurmountable IMO.

Spotify thinks I like Phil Collins
at 09:09 2 Jun 2025

I have a Daily Play List that mostly has stuff I like, a mix of 80s, rock, indie. Lately Phil Collins tracks have been creeping in and I don't know why. Whenever one comes on, I just skip it so Spotify should get the message that I don't like the bald former Genesis sticks man.

Getting woke up to In Too Deep this morning was the final straw. HOW DO I MAKE IT STOP?!!!

Can he be coached into being a bit more of a team player and maybe seeking out a pass or a cross into the box instead of trying to score a worldie every time he gets within 20 yards of goal. 99% of the time his shot gets blocked or is off target. Just wasteful. Maybe we'd have got a few more goals this season if it wasn't for pound shop Ronaldo.

Up to £70 payable to all UK consumers. You just basically need to have bought something from a retailer that accepted Mastercard between 1997 and 2008.
