You can’t have it both ways, Liverpool beat PSG in the first game, Allison is part of their team, so if it was a one off game, PSG would have been out. They would also have been out over two legs if Donnaruma (sp?) hadn't matched Allison’s performance in the second leg against Villa. PSG were deserving winners and they played the best football in Europe post Christmas, but let’s not rewrite the story of how they got there.
To be fair, Arsenal, Villa and Liverpool gave a much better account of themselves against PSG, each only losing by the odd goal and all having moments where they put pressure on them much more effectively than Inter
It’s a real puzzle isn’t it, do I trust McKenna’s view, supported by coaching staff, data, a season watching him in training, medical reports etc etc, or some random on social media.
We may easily lose 10from the present squad.. You’ve not included Cajuste, Phillips and Enciso returning to their parent clubs. If we then lose certainly Delap, Luongo, Muric, and possibly 2/3 others, then that’s 8 or 9 replacements required just to keep the numbers. We’ve got H Clarke, Al Hamadi and Humphries back so we’re looking at bringing in at least 5 or 6 players and that’s without a couple of unexpected departures
You’ve seen the step up required to be successful in the PL, Delap isn’t going to progress playing in the Championship, where he won’t be up against international quality defending. While I don’t really like to see an England manager agitating for a player to move, it’s hardly news to anyone Delap is going to move.
Can’t disagree with that, there wasn’t much old school/authentic about the match day experience behind us this season! While I wouldn’t want to return to the atmosphere I knew growing up, I do despair of the corporate blandness we’ve had to endure in the PL.i guess I might be the one out of step with the times though.
This is the guy who celebrated McKenna leaving United, because he was the problem. IIRC he said we’d regret making him our manager (or words to that effect - I think you can safely ignore his opinions.
Did you actually read my post? It may well become a commonplace asset class but currently it remains untraceable, untaxed and unregulated which is a major part of its appeal. The point was once it becomes traceable it becomes taxable and automatically a less attractive prospect. Do you seriously believe that governments in search of tax revenue will continue to allow the status that Bitcoin currently enjoys, while simultaneously allowing it to become a mainstream asset class?
I think we’ll lose Muric, Burgess, Davis, Axel, Luongo, Broadhead and Delap plus obviously Cajuste, Phillips and Enciso from the current squad.
If we lose those 10, we’re automatically into what might be termed a major rebuild, but look at Burnley last year and the number of players they lost from their PL squad and what they went on to achieve.
Possibles include DOS, which would be a blow, Jack Clarke, although he’s already had a couple of goes at the PL and fallen short, and Hirst, although I hope not. I can’t see bids for anyone else.
Your last point is the reason Bitcoin will not supplant traditional currency (although it may well sit alongside). Governments are unlikely to continue to allow Bitcoin profits to remain untaxed and unregulated. Once Bitcoin is used as collateral for debt it becomes traceable and therefore taxable, so once that becomes commonplace, Bitcoin loses at least part of its appeal. I’m not saying that Bitcoin will wither and die, merely that it is unlikely to remain beyond the reach of Governments.
I’m not sure I could describe them in terms younger fans would understand, as they haven’t experienced battles in the North Stand (West Ham, Spurs, Man U, Liverpool), being chased around assorted away grounds after police escorts from the station to the ground (Leeds, Stoke, Birmingham, Derby, WBA) and the general atmosphere around football back in the day. Those are just the most extreme examples I can recall as someone who never went looking for trouble.
