I don't for one second claim to speak for all gay people, or all gay football fans. And if there are gay Town fans happy to come to the football as it is then great. I'm delighted for them. But the reality is, that's not the case for a good number of LGBTQ+ football fans and I want to help change that. By working with the club but also creating that social element.
We're not going to be going to games singled out. We just want to be able to feel comfortable being ourselves at the football, and help make other Town fans feel comfortable too.
I don't choose my friends based on their sexuality either... But knowing I can be myself around those I spend time with is important to me.
Attending a pride march or joining this group, doesn't mean that you make your sexuality integral to who you re, or as an ally spend time with people who do that. What it means is, you have the common goal of wanting us to not second guess our actions at the football. Do you not think I should be able to go to the football with my partner without the fear of being made to feel uncomfortable with strange looks?

Europablue it shouldn't have to be something they have to deal with. They should be able to just walk down the street, post on social media with their partner just like straight couples do, just like the women's players who are out do. The media shouldn't make a big deal of it you're right. Because it's not and shouldn't be a good thing.
BUT no player will feel like they can do those things until football is an environment which enables that, and that is why we exist. To make sure that one day, hopefully not too far away, in the stands and on the pitch everyone feels comfortable to just be themselves without the worry of others reactions. Given that homophobic slurs are thrown around already, without fans knowing how the player identifies then imagine how much worse that would get if a player came out?

I'd also like to point out we are not excluding anyone from getting involved. We would love to work with allies as well as LGBTQ+ fans themselves.

While we are not prevented from attending games based on our gender identity or sexuality, it is harder to be ourselves. There are members who second guess what they wear, how they act for fear of other people's responses. There are people who don't like attending football because they are wary of what negative comments they might get and the fear of feeling like they don't belong. Unless you are LGBTQ+, I get you may not fully understand our wariness around attending football, and won't understand our experiences fully.

While there are still those fears and while there are still homophobic slurs made at the football then there remains a need for a group.
We are working with the club to ensure LGBTQ+ fans feel comfortable in attending the football and will be a safe group for LGBTQ+ fans to socialise with and to reach out to. Whether that is before games, throughout the week, at games... however they want to be involved.

As I said previously, I will be on Radio Suffolk tomorrow morning to discuss all of this.

To all the positive and supportive comments, thank you. Your support of our group and what we aim to do is greatly appreciated.

McCarthy: Freddie's Even Better Than I Thought
at 08:37:46

Think Parr was very unlucky to be dropped especially after his performance at Forest, but Knudsen played well on Tuesday so the decision payed off... Whatever 11 MM picks is obviously what he feels is best to win us the game, I trust him to know whats best over us fans!

Town 0-1 Norwich City
at 14:41:55

Absolutely nothing in that game, neither side was brilliant. Again a defensive error is all thats in jt.
Tabb was absolutely woeful, Mings was awful first half but picked up in the second. Hyam is my MOTM, he was absolutely brilliant, was commited to every tackle without being dirty and getting booked. He was passionate and seemed to be everywhere, I cant understand why he was taken off. Henshall livened up the game down the left for us but as soon as Hyam came off they dominated the midfield area.

McCarthy Annoyed to Concede Late Penalty
at 22:11:02

I don't care if MM spends money on transfer fees or not, as long as the players he brings in are good enough. Id rather MM bring in more players like McGoldrick and Berra than spends loads of money on a player like Chopra! We've brought in a good number of players on a free and they are could be a success so give them a chance, if it fails it's not a waste of a few million like we've had in the past with big money signings

McCarthy: Delighted With Players
at 19:08:04

Go on about his tactics all you want but he was screaming at the players to get forward not telling them to drop back... D'urso is an awful ref, gave us nothing pretty much, gave them freekicks for nothing which they ended up scoring from, first half we were woeful, second best to everything but second half we improved and attacked a lot, had Mings had scored that header it would be a very different result and none of you would be criticising McCarthy... We're still able to get 6th place so no harm done...
We've made incredible progress since Mick took over, there's good times ahead, and we only have McCarthy to thank for that

Town 3-1 Middlesbrough
at 18:11:13

Great game today. First 20 minutes Middlesborough were on top of us but by the end of the game, we thoroughly deserved the 3 points. Nouble disappointed me massively today, I wonder if anyone else noticed how he never emerged again after half time? Gerken was fantastic as was our back 4 and midfield. Onwards and upwards, another 3 points vs Yeovil please!

Henderson Set to Return - Updated
at 22:28:23

Yeah okay, a winger would be nice but we do need a third goalkeeper, and as some of you keep saying we might get relegated, is it worth risking buying players on wages that if we were in league one we wouldn't be able to afford. Mick is doing his best to keep us up, lets just get behind the team and give them the confidence to push us up the table.

Murphy: Town Can Cope Without Campbell
at 08:23:13

trulyblue has a very good point, Murphy is trying to boost our strikers confidence, we shouldn't be putting it down again. We should get behind the team whatever the starting 11 is. While Campbell is back at QPR one of our own strikers will be on the pitch with Murphy so lets get behind them rather than saying how they won't score.

No More Tickets for Villa Cup Tie
at 21:03:04

Needhamblues - im a loyal Ipswich fan but I can't afford a season ticket or to go to away games, I go to home games whenever I can but doesn't mean im not a loyal fan cause I dont go to all the games. I will listen to EVERY game on the radio while doing my work if I can't go. People work, live further away and can't afford it but are still loyal fans so think about that before you say anything else.

Ellington Amongst Players in Israel Protest
at 10:30:13

if this continues then surely there is a safety issue as players, fans etc could be in an area that is attacked... I agree with these players that have signed it... I also agree with the poster who mentioned Russia, the place world cups and euro championships are held is based on how rich the country is not whether they can 1)hold the tournament 2) how they treat people in their country.

McCarthy Could Add to Squad Before Deadline
at 12:55:29

at the moment, loans is the best MM can do, he cant buy anyone and some of our youths aren't up to the job otherwise managers would play them. Bringing in a few loans could help MM make decisions on who to bring in when January happens.
On the topic of Henderson, he doesn't want to play for us which he has said several times, he's a crap goalkeeper so yes send him back to West Ham where he can sit in their reserves.
