Richards got a lot of stick, but Scowcroft had worse. I seem to remember that some folks in the north stand organised a red card campaign against him. Absolutely mental that any 'fans' would treat a player in that way, especially a local lad. |
| Forum Reply | What’s your thoughts on Thompson? at 18:58 14 Feb 2022
Absolutely terrible. I have seen all four of his games so far and have seen nothing to suggest he should be in the team ahead of KVY or Penney. People keep telling me he adds more from a defensive perspective but the amount of times he let crosses come in on Saturday suggests otherwise. With a very solid central back three, we need the wing backs to be very good going forward to provide service to the forwards and that's certainly not happening from Thompson. I do also think that Burns has been playing too deep since McKenna came in (albeit I felt he was playing further forward for much of the game on Saturday). Getting the defence sorted was obviously no bad thing, but I don't think Thompson has added to that. |
| Forum Reply | A tribute to a (relatively) unsung Ipswich hero at 10:09 14 Feb 2022
The testimonial was after Sir Bobby's time. I was just a bit too young for the glory years so the testimonial gave me a chance to see the UEFA cup winning team in action (against England). Remember being impressed with how skillful Alan Brazil was. |

He's utter tosh and can't pass for toffee so the fact he's 'technically' better at defending than Penney is something of a moot point given that the rest of his game is significantly inferior (which based on the three performances so far it is). But Kenlock? No. |
| Forum Reply | That Tim Horton's isn't all that at 18:58 8 Feb 2022
Tried to eat my way through the menu the weekend it opened. Didn't get far, but: Bacon and egg muffin stack = edible but not as 'good' as McDonald's Hash brown = soggy and not in any way comparable to a McDonald's hash brown, nor any other I have sampled Lattice fries = soggy and disgusting Crispy chicken stack = nice enough to have again Honey cruller = soggy and wet Apple fritter donut = edible but not worth a second go Chocolate cake made with Oreo = very nice Old fashioned glazed donut = okish Maple, caramel and white chocolate pancakes = bloody lovely! In retrospect I'm a bit ashamed that I managed to get through all of that in two visits.... |

Came across an antivax protest by The Wolsey on my way to the game on Saturday. Probably about fifty or so people spouting nonsense about kids being used as lab rats and footballers collapsing. Gently challenged a few of them as they passed by, but they were very much beyond the point of sensible debate. |

Naples. Always Naples. Dirty, noisy, horrible place which at the same time is incredibly beautiful and mesmerising. Also, has fantastic food which is very cheap (think best pizza and ice cream in the world). Good hotels with sea views and pools include: San Francesco al Monte Romeo hotel Grand Hotel Vesuvio Hotel Royal Continental The locations of the latter two are best. |
| Forum Reply | Ed trying to convert Olly Murs… at 11:42 6 Feb 2022
Yes Murs was actually in the director's box, sat at the back where the coaches and players sit. Not sure who he was with though. Suspect this was at half time. |
| Forum Reply | How is Chaplin the second-best outfield player on the ratings? at 19:48 5 Feb 2022
Piggott is Marmite. There's a very good player in there, but he needs a proper run of games in front of a creative midfield. Loads of people getting on his back today whilst others seem to think he had a good game. Thought he was generally poor, but really not helped by the ineptitude of most of the midfield. |

Take a tablet or phone for her to play on because she'll likely lose interest after the first five minutes and become a pain in the @rse. Took my eldest when she was five and my youngest when she was three and was glad that I had my sister and mum with me to help keep them entertained. That said, the girl who sits behind me took both of hers when they were less than a month old! The eldest is now six and he is happy to sit through the whole 90 minutes watching the game. Ultimately it depends on the child and how much they are genuinely interested in football versus just being excited by the occasion. |

I suspect that it is somewhat in their best interests to turn a blind eye. People are paying for the service and both the clubs and the EFL are probably making a fairly significant income from it. There's an argument that if they stop it people will switch to illegal streams - the issue of people watching remotely rather than going to games remains, but the income is lost. |
| Forum Reply | Very disappointed from the atmosphere not created by the lower North today at 19:30 18 Dec 2021
I agree. Slightly hypocritical for those of us elsewhere in the ground to criticise, but Lower North is the engine room for the rest of us and it wasn't happening today (unlike many of the other matches this season with lower crowds where Lower North has been amazing). The players did their bit in the first half but as a crowd we missed the opportunity to reciprocate. The rest of the crowd will only sing if things are really bubbling, but they will get involved with the clapping for the allez-allez-allez thing and I am not sure that that was sung until the second half. I felt with more crowd support the team could have got the all important second goal before half time. |
