Vax for children

But my point isn't about their immunity...

Added to which, there is no certainty that it won't happen and based on experience to date, a reasonable possibility it will.

Hence why, when weighing up all of the possible risks I am still of the opinion that 12 to 15 year olds should get vaccinated for the benefit of the wider population. But I appreciate I will not change your mind.

Whilst this argument may be driven by emotion and whilst I acknowledge that you are presenting some very compelling arguments against vaccinating children, the moral argument outweighs the scientific one here for me (given the scientific one is such a close run thing).

We increasingly live in a society where people have no sense of collective responsibility and the refusal of people to accept that there is a compelling reason to take an incredibly small risk in order to help others is a prime example.

If I am understanding correctly, you are suggesting kids would get no personal benefit from this. That's absolute rollocks! It may be true in terms of short-term personal protection from COVID, but it's certainly not true when you think about the wider benefits of reaching a point where COVID represents a significantly lower ongoing threat to society. There is limited value in adults being vaccinated if kids are simply going to perpetuate the spread of COVID and possibly with it the risk of significantly more dangerous variants. Your argument effectively assumes these kids won't grow up to be adults.... The more protection society as a whole can gain against COVID through vaccination, the lower the risks for children when they reach adulthood.

Covid cases dropping

I think they said this wave would be 'lumpy' all along, so whilst we'd all expect an upturn with the schools having returned, the unexpected is not to be unexpected....!

12 - 15 year olds not recommended Covid jabs

Looks like you might have to have that 'fight' Digger.

I know that once my 11 year old turns 12 in November she will be very keen to get it - she is very keen to do her bit and I certainly won't be discouraging her.

Maybe there won't be any legal comeuppance for them, but there is every reason for the club to ban them.

The club should ban him immediately. They should then work with the relevant authorities to get him the help he needs to ensure that he learns, gets through the fallout from this and can ultimately return.

They should then go after the tw@ts who always treat him like sh1t and absolutely hammer them.

12 - 15 year olds not recommended Covid jabs
at 09:22 4 Sep 2021

Boris is an idiot, but that is irrelevant to this debate.

The news this morning suggests the government will go ahead with vaccinating 12 to 15 year olds and as a father of an 11 year old (12 in November) and a 9 year old, I will very willingly give permission for them to get jabbed when the time comes.

Even if the risk of adverse reactions was equal to the risk that they face from COVID I would still give permission because this is not simply about the COVID risk to any individual child. This is about the continued ongoing risk to society, not just here but everywhere.

If COVID is allowed to continue bubbling along in a cohort that is generally asymptomatic, we will simply be creating a breeding ground for new variations, with COVID rates never reaching a point where we can be confident it is under control. Some of these variants may be significantly more harmful, not just to older and/or those more vulnerable to current variants, but to the very kids that the vaccine cynics are trying to 'protect' (including the OP's).

It's a cliche to say it, but......where would we be today if previous generations had thought in this way?

Gordon Alecock. An apt surname for a former publican.

They can get a job, albeit it has to include something like 250 hours of training a year.

Dunno, but if you watch the bench, before a substitution is made, whoever is coming on puts their shirt on immediately prior to coming on.

The subs don't ever wear their shirts on the bench, they put them on just prior to coming on. You would always expect them to have them with them at least.....

How many on here went to the game today?
at 21:27 28 Aug 2021

I thought it was better at times than it has been and felt things are starting to come together. However, we still can't perform consistently throughout the course of a game, which is something we also suffered from under Lambert.

I also think Piggott needed someone alongside him. Edwards was great, Burns was pretty good and Fraser wasn't bad, but we failed to get them on the ball enough.

Just like under Lambert, our speed of thought and movement is too slow. I expected it to be much quicker and it needs to be if we are to open teams up.

Hladky was poor. The defence should share some of the blame, but you expect the keeper to do far better for both goals.

Coulson looked poor in his first game but today he was immense. Evans and Harper we're off form.

Not sure why KVY was taken off, but he wasn't happy about it. He doesn't look great defensively this season, but is still unquestionably better than donacien.

We were better than Wimbledon, but I'm fairness to them they played some great football and have some good individuals. I felt their substitutions made a difference - ours did too, but not a positive one.

If you had £200k to invest in property in Ipswich or the locale....

Doesn't that very much depend on where you are in the US though? I am always shocked at the disparity of prices within the US as it seems in some places you can get a massive five bedroom house cheaper than a terraced three bed over here and in others you are looking at mega bucks.

Very poor decision. The cultural vandalism inflicted on Ipswich by planners in the 50s, 60s and 70s shouldn't be allowed to be repeated. It has taken 50 years for Ipswich to recover and looking back at our lost architectural heritage is so sad.

I didn't realise I actually cared that much until I started to write that!
