| News Comment | Hutchinson in Preliminary Jamaica Squad at 09:34:04
Selling him wouldn't do much for Chelsea's FFP as they paid a fee to buy him from Arsenal. He wouldn't be "pure profit" like Gallagher etc. |
| News Comment | Charlton Hoping to Complete Ladapo Signing Today at 10:26:53
So, Charlton will have Ladapo, Fraser, Camara and Bakinson – that's not a bad creative line for League 1 at all... Good luck Freddie, you have the ability and with the right service can be deadly at that level. |
| News Comment | Edwards Returns From Oxford Loan at 17:02:30
I agree with those saying that there's not much difference between Edwards and Hutchinson in terms of ability and end product. Hutchinson has definitely gone off the boil recently. Looked promising at Southampton but has rarely taken his opportunities since. And I agree with chepstowblue that Jackson is no better than either. However, Edwards is injured. If we kept him for the next six months, he could still be weeks away from fitness. He's not going to be making an immediate impact. Surely this move is to push for a small fee from someone before he leaves on a free? Personally, bit gutted it didn't work out for him here as he's great to watch (if he does leave). Anyway, Sarmiento will surely be a big upgrade on both. |
| News Comment | Ball: A Great Opportunity at 18:18:34
Do we know which are the players that are doing their coaching licenses at Town? Ball must surely be one of them. Carries himself as a leader, speaks well, understands his team role, and has interests outside the game. I can see him developing into a senior figure even if off the pitch. |
| News Comment | Morsy Left Out of Final Egypt Squad at 20:54:25
I'm currently in Egypt and have spoken to a few locals about Morsy - all who were pleasantly surprise that I had not only heard of him but that he plays for our club. The verdict is that he is not popular with fans on Egyptian social media. Sounds like he is underrated here. Perhaps because the champ is not widely watched |
| News Comment | Tuanzebe Still in Suffolk as Town Talks Continue at 20:09:57
I also was a bit surprised to see we might be able to afford him, and was worried that bringing in someone on significantly more wages might unbalance the club. But, I think you're right saxonblue, we have to trust that the club know better than us and will have considered this. They've not made a mistake yet. Unlike previous expensive flops – Bullard etc – Axel is a good age, desperate for fitness and a run of games, and if he does well will command a significant transfer fee. That's our MO now. |
| News Comment | Town Confirm Williams Loan Signing at 13:59:20
TractorCam – I agree, would make sense to me to play him at right back in the long term, though I am guessing he will need a few weeks to get up to speed with us, so see Clarke starting on Saturday. Would imagine the end goal is to move Clarke into the centre. |
| News Comment | Donacien: It’s a Completely Different Club Now at 16:58:01
He has great chemistry on the right-hand side with Burns and Chaplin. He contributes so well to our play going forward, particularly when we have a lot of possession. His confidence dribbling into the box makes him a real threat. When he first arrived he looked a very average defender, but that side has improved too. |
| News Comment | Pert: Clarke Training and No New Fitness Issues at 10:19:45
In previous seasons, wholesale changes would have been met with derision. But I for one am looking forward to seeing our fringe players. The fact we will need to choose two from Evans, Humphreys and Taylor shows the depth we have. And I'm looking forward to seeing Jackson, Edwards and possibly Hutchinson. It's an exciting prospect |
| News Comment | Harper Contract Terminated By Mutual Consent at 12:36:12
You could just see his ability was a little behind the other team members. His touch was a bit poorer, his passes more often misplaced and he was push off the ball more easily. There's definitely a player there, and good qualities too. But not up to our standard. |
| News Comment | Ipswich Town Fixtures 2023/24 at 10:01:35
March and April look interesting. Some winnable games in March which could put us on a good run. In April we face a relegated side, two that finished in the play-offs and two that were tipped to finish in the play-offs. So, they could be teams that are there or thereabouts next year. Could be an opportunity to put some rivals behind us. |
| News Comment | Ashton: We're Going to Have to Look at the Capacity of the Stadium at 11:54:41
There is a much bigger potential fanbase now. Pop of Suffolk in 2000: 657,814. Pop of Suffolk in 2021: 761,250. With Ed's involvement, we clearly have greater potential to attract new and younger fans from elsewhere too. It really makes sense to future proof for the increase in support as we go up the leagues. I agree with others on how we redevelop the Cobbold sensitively. The biggest drawback when we redeveloped the North Stand wasn't the decrease in attendance IMO. It was that the atmosphere was sucked out of the empty end. But Bazza8564 is right, it can be done without demolishing the current stand now. And I completely agree on the lettering Gilesy. I've said that on here before. |
| News Comment | Duo in League One Team of the Season at 22:31:30
Two players from Ipswich, Plymouth and Wednesday, one from Barnsley, Derby, Bolton and Peterborough - just seems like an exercise in keeping fans from top 6 clubs happy. This is hardly an objective measure of the best players in the league. |
| News Comment | Ashton: Cobbold Stand Redevelopment Medium to Long-Term Desire at 12:58:06
The Cobbold Stand definitely has the most charm. I'm always happy to see the corner that greets you as you walk up from the station. I hope, if and when we do develop it, we do something similar to the clock from the Clock End at Highbury and keep the "Ipswich Town Football Club" and "Cobbold Stand" lettering and find a place for it somewhere in the design. I would assume that a rebuild will also come with a rename — Ashton wouldn't want to miss out on that commercial opportunity. |
| News Comment | Ashton: Kit Sales a Sign of How Big This Club Could Become at 09:50:49
I'm sure that if we go up we could sell even more of this season's shirts. I hope they will make more available as I've yet to get the black one, but I doubt they will. Already gearing up for next year by the sounds of it. |
| News Comment | Ashton: Away Fans to Remain in Cobbold Stand Next Season But Discussions Ongoing at 15:48:28
Agree with Bert. I also think the primary concern for the club here is freeing up higher value seats for home supporters. I can see value in them being moved to the upper northwest tier of the Magnus stand. This would a) move them closer to the North stand, b) move them into seats less often filled by home supporters (than, say, the SAR lower) and c) be an even worse view for away supporters than the Cobbold and d) there's lots of space behind the Magnus that could accomodate turnstile tweaks. |
| News Comment | U21s Match Against Birmingham Moves to Playford Road at 15:23:13
The pitch is starting to look a bit cut up, as it always does at this time of year. Anything we can do to preserve it will be very necessary to squeeze out a marginal gain before the end of the season. Roll on next season when we have our hybrid surface! |
