My favourite Freddie goal is our third away at Peterborough. He is a throwback in some ways, because he's an out and out goalscorer. Hooking that one in is a great example of what he's about. I was at the Reading Carabao game when he ran on to that sublime Lee Evans pass for the first. There was no doubt in my mind, and clearly none in his either. There are fewer players like him in the game every season, and it makes me a bit sad that we won't have one after he's gone, even though I understand why he's going. But I'm old, so I would say that. Thanks Freddie, all the best! |
| News Comment | McKenna: Striker Signing Less Likely Than Likely, But Broja Talks Back On at 18:15:06
I feel like the headline doesn't match Kieran's quoted comments. Personally, I don't think Broja is anywhere near good enough to come into the team. I don't doubt that he could become good enough, because we know how well he'd be coached with us. But if there's an existing problem I just can't see a reason to go further with it. |
| News Comment | McKenna: To Maintain Our Place in the League Would Be an Incredible Achievement at 23:34:32
This is music to our ears, it's the Kieran McKenna manifesto. You know full well it's not spin, it's his beliefs. And we've seen the results. Omari was almost undroppable by the turn of the year, a huge change from his early-season contributions. The goal he got away at Southampton in September is one he never would have scored for Chelsea. Kieran and his staff have taught him not only how to do that but also why he really really needs to do it. They carried on coaching him and he's a much better player as a result. He should be a real asset this season, but he probably already understands he still won't start every game. I think the signings this week might be the real outcome of the contract talks at the start of the summer. I suspect they were not really about approaches from Brighton or ManU or whoever, but were more about "I want these players, and I want you to guarantee that you'll go and get them for me". The Szmodics deal took at least 6 weeks, and it sounds like Phillips was on the go for a while too - but we got them. That requires persistence and belligerence as well as financial backing. Bring it on! |

I like this. He'll get plenty of opportunity to prove to the world that he's still a good player. |
| News Comment | Borussia Mönchengladbach 3-1 Ipswich Town U21s - Match Report at 19:35:20
Well, full disclosure @RIPbobby - a bit yeah. Truthfully, I did very badly at German, but pronunciation was the easy bit - the grammar is ridiculous! Not made any easier as a result of me never being taught English grammar in the first place of course. ;-) It's true though, I'm a big fan of Glen Wheeler's commentaries, he does a great job IMHO. I probably shouldn't pick holes. |

Glen Wheeler, I love your commentaries but PLEEEEAASE learn how to promounce German names while you're in Germany. It's the easiest foreign language to pronounce, because the various letter combinations are always pronounced the same way (unlike English, of course - through, though, trough, plough etc). For example, the start of Düsseldorf does NOT rhyme with 'bus' - it rhymes with 'puss'. Then there's Kleindienst who played today; 'ei' and 'ie' are pronounced differently. His name sounds like Kline-deenst, not Kline-dinest and definitely not Kline-dinesht. The point is, there's enough time to get your head around German pronunciation between now and when you get to German-speaking Austria. Viel Glück! :-) |

This is a great move, he looks good already and will only get better while he's here! |

It's a shame, he outperformed most people's expectations last season. In terms of the timing, I wouldn't mind betting Kieran already knows who'll be between the sticks for the first game. |
| News Comment | Hutchinson: Ipswich Town Will Always Have a Place in My Heart at 00:31:48
I loved how, even after the back-flips, he never even smiled. He didn't make it all about himself, he was part of the team. The club, really. I'm glad we had the opportunity to witness his development, even if he doesn't come back. Good luck to a good person! |

It's a shame, he's a lovely player. The pass for Freddie to run onto at Reading in the Carabao was utterly sublime. Good luck Lee! |
