Woolfenden Latest to Extend Town Stay
at 16:34:54

I'm not sure that McKenna could have done much with Downes. When you're limited you're limited. Though i do recall him touching the ball for Swansea in November. I'd nigh on given up on Woolfy and would still worry about him in a back four, but reverting to a back three has helped him immensely. The dopey episodes have been cut out and he looks very assured and comfortable on the ball. Along with the news of Aluko it's been a positive day.

Jackson Signs New Deal
at 12:27:33

I'm not overly enthused and wouldn't want him to be anything like our first or second choice. One and a half decent games doesn't paper over two very poor seasons. First touch, staying onside, working on his mythical pace and finishing all need to be worked on. Having said that, he was the only striker at the club who improved under McKenna. Good luck to him and I hope he proves me wrong, but personally I don't think he's the answer.

Morsy Linked With Wigan But No Contact With Town
at 13:21:51

Loyalty isn't a quality connected to footballers. I can't imagine that his decision will be swayed by the fact that we get bigger crowds either. If they offer him similar money I'm sure he'll be gone in a flash. What goes in our favour is the source of the story-a rag that I wouldn't clean dog sh*t off my shoes with. Personally....hope he stays.

Preston Eyeing Celina
at 10:20:15

Not many players at this level who have a quick brain.... Celina does. He may have been inconsistent last season but at his best he's one of a few at the club who are obviously too good for this level, and on his day the championship also. The sort of player who on his day will set us apart from the rest. A player who the opposition don't just respect but genuinely fear. To fret about losing Norwood but not Celina has me scratching my head when ability wise they're on different planets. If we're not lining up players of this ability who's heart is obviously at the club then I'm fascinated to know what pre-season will bring as there aren't many of his ability and vision willing to play so far down the pyramid. Surely....surely its a no brainer to at least make an effort. Very disappointed if this doesn't happen.

Aberdeen Boss: I've a Lot of Admiration For Hladky
at 13:53:52

Player of the season at St.Mirren and Salford!! But I must admit that in our first few away games this season he made me nervous. Very poor under the high ball and very unlikely to get any playing time unless he's picked for the competition that even I wouldn't travel to Wembley for. That's no career for any self respecting pro.

I felt guilty benefitting from those results, and ultimately that slow start to the season went a long way towards our undoing, and playing catch up was beyond us. I adopted the mindset of....'got to predict with the head not the heart'.

Ryorry.....you were well up there at one stage if I remember.... with games in hand! It's the first time I've participated, and when I got Morecambe,Burton and Cheltenham for 21pts after 3 games I told myself ..."I'm quite good at this". Matty81 's 102pts is a spectacular effort to be fair.

Town Confirm Four Departures
at 21:01:26

Well it appears that we've already reached the champions league! Bakinson and Celina are plenty good enough for us, especially at league one level. Bonne was prolific under Cook but poor under McKenna. If he replicated his early season form I'd take him as a back up to a hopefully better new arrival.Thompson was dreadful almost every time I saw him and is surely a no deal. We can't afford to faff about too much with this squad or we'll be also rans again next season, churning out the same pitiful excuses! Good luck to those who are moving on.

Bobble...as far as I'm aware the person with the most correct predictions is placed higher if the totals are the same, rewarding those who participate every week. I understand what you're saying though. If it was based on an 'average pts per game' system you'd be sitting higher.

Burns and Bakinson in Team of the Week
at 12:52:34

After hearing the damning reports on him from my Bristol City mates Bakinson has been excellent and dispelled all my fears. I'd be very disappointed if we didn't keep him. Not only that, he should be a nailed on starter. A little casual and wasteful at times, but the good outweighs the bad. Able to win the midfield aerial battles and retrieve possession with an outstretched leg when all looks lost. If he contributes 8-10 goals per season and eliminates the occasional sloppy pass(common at this level) he'd be a terrific acquisition. Get it done.

Norwood and Carroll Released
at 22:28:34

It is a classy statement from Norwood, laced with self deprecation, sarcasm and devilment.Qualities that I really enjoy. There's no doubt that his off field activities and lack of restraint on it had me often labelling him as a 'n*b', and his agricultural style of play never really appealed to me. But a trier he certainly was and I'm sure that he's capable of another couple of seasons at this level. I can't say I'd be too worried if he were lining up against us. Good luck all the same. Tom Carroll will be a name that in a few yrs time I'll never remember having ever been connected with us. A shame, as having seen him at Spurs at QPR was undoubtedly a lad with plenty of ability. Echoing the sentiments of a previous post...i don't believe he was ever fully fit.

Donacien: No Reason We Can't Be Successful Next Season
at 19:37:19

It's difficult to make statements without knowing what the personnel will be but I just don't see it happening. This is a tougher division than we envisaged and as yet we've got nowhere near close to even making the top six. We seem to have ready made excuses in place and are always blaming the previous regime or building for the following season. Its all crap to be honest. We cannot afford to start next season as poorly as this one, with another newly assembled squad taking time to 'gel'. We have to hit the ground running, or another season of being also rans is on the cards. At times this season it's been very promising, but whilst we spent time throwing away leads late on in games the sides in the play offs were scoring late winners. Fine margins, but it happened to often for it to be a coincidence. The gap between 6th place to us is greater than the gap between us to Cheltenham and yet somehow we've adopted a very arrogant attitude that we are somehow special. We couldn't beat any of the promoted sides in 8 attempts !! We don't even look a good outside bet to be honest.

Rotherham United 1-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 15:12:01

A pitiful performance and for the first time in many months I've left the ground believing that we are also rans for the foreseeable and many miles away from contending. An inability to create chances due to a woeful final ball or poor finishing when the opportunity arises. Another side in the middle of a poor run hardly has to break sweat in order to kick start their season. At times we are the perfect opposition and far from the Billy Big b*locks that we deludedly see ourselves as.

Red-Carded Burgess Issues Apology
at 19:50:08

In the pathetic modern version of the game it matters not if you make contact. Its a 'brain dead' lunge. Having said that the first yellow is a pathetic decision. Once on a yellow though you've gotta be fairly stupid to jump in when the best you can do is block it out for a goal kick, especially when leading 1-0 and in control of the points. No doubt the numpty brigade would label this challenge as showing 'passion' ?!!

Shrewsbury Town 1-1 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 22:04:14

After listening to the delinquent in block22 row Q seat 9 for nigh on two hours I honestly thought that suicide would be my only option when I got home. Even my psychiatrist Dr Bellend would have to agree that this numpty was beyond help! As for the game...good for 15mins but then decidedly half hearted. So flaming slow in everything we did. Even though we appeared well in control an injection of tempo and a willingness to get a second goal was sadly lacking, and our lethargy was compounded by Burgess's stupid lunge and a wonder strike. On this evidence a mid table finish is on the cards again next season. We have to move the ball quicker or the average sides we've encountered in the past fortnight wont need to break sweat in order to get positive results against us. It's easy to see why Cambridge,Cheltenham, Morecambe have caused us problems.Punctuated by numerous stoppages this was one of the least enjoyable away days for many months.

McKenna: Referees Need to Be Mindful on Time-Wasting
at 19:01:59

Time wasting is scandalous nowadays. But what is worse is the officials inability to add the time on. More times than not the half time board should be going up from 3 or 4 minutes....and we get 1. Goal celebrations (once the morons have got off their knees and put their shirts back on are taking at least a minute and a half). Players should be told..."you've got 30 seconds to grope each other, have a nibble, get back inside your own half before the other team kick off". Football is basically 46+49 mins, regardless of whether there's 1or 6 goals, 1 or 4 injury stoppages. The clock should stop each time the ball goes out of play, because at present we're watching about 58mins per game. We as fans who attend are being seriously shafted and the impotent powers that be do nothing to address the issue. Add to that the blatant cheating and simulation and its become an almost unwatchable spectacle devoid of integrity and sportsmanship. If it wasn't for my bond with Ipswich I'd have f*#k all to do with the game !

Burgess: It Would Be Disappointing to Miss Out But There's a Lot of Optimism For the Future
at 12:50:42

Fat boy....good point. We've adopted a 'football snobbery' attitude at the club this season without having achieved anything, and those who think we're going to p*ss the league next season need a dose of reality. Offer me top six and I'd be ecstatic. It worries me that some believe that Cambridge only won on Saturday because they raised their game for a 'derby' and it was their 'big day out'. Why couldn't we ?! Thankfully when listening to our excellent manager there's no chance of him using the same pitiful excuses. Come August we'll be playing Forest Green not Man City!! Whatever level we're playing at we need to respect the opposition. Only then may the rewards come. Over the season we've failed to beat Morecambe, Cheltenham, Cambridge. A club doesn't gain a scary aura because we're getting 21,000 through the turnstiles.Only results on the pitch will bring about that. Beating Wycombe home and away doesn't make us better them. Arrogance is an ugly trait. Hard work is still the greatest quality. Whilst this season is over bar the shouting I hope we perform as if our lives depend on it to end the season on a high and to carry momentum into next season.

Ipswich Town 0-1 Cambridge United - Match Report
at 17:38:15

The results were going perfectly into extra time (apart from ours), and then Sheff Wed and Sunderland ended our season in a three min spell. Unfortunately we didn't keep our part of the deal. Four points from twenty four against the promoted sides is a disastrous tally, and while it's not solely down to that it's played a big part. Deep breaths and relax for the last five games. Hopefully some good performances to end on a high to retain some of the feel good factor that's been built over the last couple of months. A gutting anti climax today, but I've enjoyed and appreciate what I've seen of us recently. We've got a side to be proud of and should feature strongly in the promotion race next season.
