Harry Steps Down
Thank you Harry. For many years I've visited TWTD on my lunch break and enjoyed your previews, which have become as much a part of the pre-match build up for me as seeing Bluey prance around the Portman Road turf.
I'm sure we all understand that life gets in the way, happy retirement and if I every meet you at a game I would love to buy you a pint as a thank you.
Bishop Scan Today
Carlo, you're an idiot.
Fingers crossed it's not too serious for Bishop's sake and ours. Horrible having to watch your team mates playing when you can't take part yourself. He's a really good and exciting player when fit, I love watching him glide past players with the ball at his feet. Hopefully it's not too serious and he can come back and make an impact.
Godbold Honoured By LMA
I was so chuffed to read this today. What fantastic and loyal service to the club, and imagine the transformation of the game / industry in general that she's witnessed in her time, and the glory years of Sir Bobby right through to administration etc. Our paths have crossed but I don't know Pat personally, however should you read this; thank you, and all the best to you.
Bru Leaves Blues
Was never suited to the rigours of Championship football. He's clearly a talented and technically sound player, you can tell he's been schooled at Clairfontain and he's no mug. I think he's better suited to other leagues in Europe where perhaps there's less emphasis on physicality and more on technical ability.
He's incredibly week and goes missing for long periods. Completely unable to stamp any authority on a game and generally adopted the role of passenger in his time here. Came across as lazy and disinterested on a number of occasions and horribly frustrating to watch him play. 100% the right thing to do to release him.
Merry Christmas From TWTD
Merry Christmas to all associated with TWTD, particularly those involved in its running and upkeep. What a wonderful, free resource this is for Town fans the whole world over. It’s certainly very much appreciated Phil / Gav et al so thank you.
Wishing all you Town fans a very Merry Christmas and happy new year. God bless you all.
McCarthy: Huws Injury a Shock
To be fair, McGoldrick, Huws and Williams were players that had been prone to injury before coming here if I'm not mistaken. Bishop's certainly had his issues, hopefully now he can get 100% fit and take this disappointing news as an opportunity to establish himself back in our side and show the world what he's about as a professional football.
Pompey Appear to Confirm Pitman Switch
I think he'll score goals there, he's definitely capable of 20+ a season at that level. Shame it didn't work out but it's £500k a year off the wage bill that we can invest elsewhere. Moore, Best, Douglas, Coke and Pitman moving on is good business, we just need someone to take Bru off us now. Berra leaving was inevitable and as far as free transfers go he has to be regarded as one of our most successful. That's most of the deadwood gone in my opinion, I think we'll see 1 striker come in and cover for Spence at right back. I hope Evans shows real ambition with the striker acquisition.
McCarthy: Interest in Players
Are Pitman and Bru in Ireland? Anyone know? Or are they totally frozen out now never to be seen again? Not that that would be a bad thing by the way.
McCarthy and Staff Watch Friendly in Dublin
There's a big difference between scoring goals for a team flying in League 2 vs. a team that's not creating much in the Championship for long periods. Not saying he's not worth looking at but Pitman would clear up in League 2 too.
Moore and Emmanuel Could Join Rotherham
Happy to let Moore go, he didn't look up to it in the few appearances he made last season. I like Emmanuel, I think he's better than Spence at RB personally. I wouldn't mind seeing him start for us.
Murphy Set to Leave Newcastle With Boro Eyeing Loan Move
One minute it's "Boo let's stop signing these 34 year old journeymen on loan" and the next people are wetting their pants about bringing Murphy back. I don't agree he had '1 freak season' at all, if you watch football rather than look at his Wikipedia stats you'll appreciate he carried this side for most of McCarthy's time here and he was a massive loss last season.
I don't agree we should bring him back though, thanks for the memories but we need to move on and evolve our style into a team that tries to keep the ball. Signing Murphy, as good as he is at what he does is A) very short term and B) means another season on Chambers and Smith pumping aimless long balls in his vague direction.
We need to move on and build a footballing side around Bialkowski, Webster, Dozzell, Bishop, Ward.
Samuelsen Linked With Half-Season Loan
Peterborough thought very highly of him, as do West Ham. Maybe he was a bit young and slight for league 1 football last year, he looks like he's got some filling out to do. Couple of occasions in that clip he could've done with getting the pass away a bit quicker but he's on iosuly got foot ability. Could be a good option off the bench.
