Reading v Luton Town Your Report added at 20:46:42
...ok a bit of perspective ....first home game of the season...lots of nerves and slightly less anticipation as perhaps there would have been if we had had two better results in previous matches....pre twtd talk of a 20000 crowd was probably media hype to encourage people to go as 17200 is a very poor start esp seeing as it was a grade c game and allegedly one of the cheaper ones ...and also a lower attendance than last season.....a day that was supposed to be full of excitement as it was also celebrating Sir Bobby Robson day started off well with a great round of applause but eventually petered out to a very quiet crowd left wondering what they had just witnessed in a very mediocre first half.hewitt and Skuse were the stand out performers while the rest of the back four didn't need to impress such was the poor ability of a woeful millwall side....they however did very well what they had to do. Tabb looked off the pace and will be disappointed especially after such a great performance against reading .....I don't think I am alone in already thinking that Mcgoldrick and murphy are too similar..and currently would prefer either one with Taylor rather than together.....second half bit more fight and endeavour that saw town deservedly create their own luck and all will take goals however they are scored.....end of the day a much needed result esp against a side that will struggle and If we have aspirations of our own must beat. We did what we needed to do...bigger opposition we might have struggled but today we weren't against them so didn't need to perform at that higher level....it gives us time to keep gelling together and moving forward..it wasn't the best but it was far from some of the dross that was served up at the beginning of last season...so we remain positive and in mick we still trust COYB

.....slightly easier trip home as up in pboro seeing relatives.
Certainly not the same set up as Huddersfield as we looked like we wanted to win this one more.....and for all the knockers that I have been getting hendo played well today and his distribution was a great deal quicker than previous matches......topped by a very important save at the end surprisingly today he accepted the applause and didn't tell anyone to f#% @ff like he did at the Galpharm.
Thought the defence today was spot on and echo the points about Hewitt....the more I see the more I am impressed...think we have found a real gem.
Midfield did ok with hyam playing well.......strange ratings and comments under the official report that suggests taab didn't play too well.....I thought he was excellent and for a small lad beat everyone to the heading the ball, showed some intelligent touches and looked full of running.....another great addition by MM and TC
...the negatives.....what is happening up front?....been to 10 matches this year and have seen 5 town goals......it's a long way home when your strikers can't score......spent most of first half being told by the drunk bloke next to me that we should sign Mcgoldrick......my jury still out as if he can't score he isn't doing his job.....and sadly we have strikers aplenty at the moment that can't find the net.....look forward to an addition from league one or lower that will be hungry and full of surprises next year....and of course am eager to see what Paul Taylor can do for us.
All in all a point but as said to hollywoodginge last time out....you don't stay in this league drawing nil nil.....4points a must from the next two games to keep the gap wide enough to avoid a nail biting finish.....
Last comment was that I thought the town support today was great......bring back standing on the terraces anyone???? COYB

..this can't wait until we get home....never left a game so insensed...dreadful game and to cap it all Henderson then tells his own supporters to f##% off...mm this man should NEVER play for town again

......This one is simple....ruined by a diabolical ref and so in-sensed that I am now looking to the FA site to see if as a supporter I can make a complaint. (makes you wonder where allegiances lie when this fella was from Peterborough....match fixing anyone.....it was that blatant)
Town never looked up for this with mediocre performances throughout the whole side. ......never looked like we were actually going to score despite the two chances in the dying minutes.....as a blue I would have eagerly have taken a point as it would have given us something to cheer about on the long journey home.....but recognise we didn't do enough to sort this out......lets be clear about this....the future is bright but ONLY if we stay in this league.....we are right back in a relegation dogfight and with the other teams on winning streaks we could end up dropping like a stone......MM and TC are doing what they can but the players need to perform week in week out in order to make April and May a bit less stressful.
Carlos....best performance against middlesborough.....poor again against Blackburn.....he needs to be fined everytime that he passes the ball back.....and the team need to take a serious look as to why when momentum is building they seem to naturally slow it down.
Town supporters strangely quiet right from the off and never raised much of a whimper.
Luke Chambers again looking desolate when coming over to applaud away fans .....found it difficult to clap back.
Summary ...need to do better and quickly...... 1nil and its a long way home!!!

....great game great point.....think even if we were second in the league we would have been chuffed at this point.
Didn't see it as a scrappy game it just lacked that one moment of brilliance that could have won it for either side
Loach....a more solid game and after discovering that I had sat behind your dad was pleased not to have had a pop at you!!!
Creswell.. solid performance
Chambers...continues to improve which makes his celebrations at the end of a game mean so much more
Smith...won everything chucked at him
Orr.....some shaky moments but end of day harried and did the job required
Martin......still the same for me...so much promise and endeavour needs to work on final ball/result
N'Daw.......simply wow......controlled the mid field got stuck in and showed that as his confidence is growing can dribble a bit....just needs to take that split second longer when passing the ball out to make sure it always gets to a town shirt....my MOM
Hyam......bit shaky but clearly man marking his player....a good shift
Edwards.....under performed today as always passed the ball backwards....be braver so many times momentum lost because ball was played back
McLean....shortest man on the pitch yet won so many headers....work rate excellent
Mcgoldrick.....think we are going to see much more out of him and got to be honest post the bit we saw at villa was a little disappointed with him today but works hard all over the pitch

Murphy/chopra....much the same as each other but what a difference it makes to be able to see decent subs coming on
Nouble.....enough to be pleased by this signing...made a run like a freight train at one of the Cardiff players....good job he connected with the ball not the man otherwise he would have flattened him....desperately disappointed that h e didn't convert last minute opportunity
All in all a great point and always nice to see town a bit more locally
Big plea to the part time away supporters....team is starting to deserve so many more following away from home....villa support showed the potential....MM and TC are taking this team somewhere.....don't be disappointed when you miss out...COYB

Ipswich Town v Portsmouth Your Report added at 17:26:21
...although not too late back thought I would mull it over before a report.
Generally agree with the positivity already written but will add a bit of player by player
Loach...some good saves and an ipswich lad through and through....as good as Henderson but as Henderson he desperately needs to improve...bringing confidence to the team.
Hewitt....yes a shaky start but what a player in the making....fast and willing to get forward....great find by the club
Kisnorbo....my stand out MoM...got stuck in and played v well .....great asset and would be my stater for next week
Smith...IMO continues to improve and must have made him proud to wear the armband
Cresswell....solid performance....did enough but not so much that villa would think about coming back in for him
JET......differing opinions...simply put an easy choice to be substituted ....needs to do so much more
Hyam......good performance but was clearly a marked man by the ref.....was lucky to stay on late on but v poor first yellow card would have meant another one would have been a complete injustice
Martin.....continues to disappoint as there is no final outcome.....but if that sounds harsh will always congratulate for his work effort
Murthy.....put himself about and was a handful....really surprised to see him come off
Copra......badly needs match practise as a chorea of old would have buried the two chances he had....credit to given for the saves but shots were straight at him.....would have liked to have seen him try a diving header to attempt to get ball before given recollected in a sitting position.
Mcgoldrick.....great start but looks almost too clever for us ...constantly asking for the ball to be passed a yard in front to allow him to run onto it but amazingly Edwards on a number of occasions just didn't see opening
Edwards....read notes above...ok when he came on but didn't change the game
McLean.....again if this is the type of player mm can get in the future will be bright...some great moments for him at both ends of the field ..

....and where is NRC you ask......simply should never pull on a town shirt again...yes slightly better 2nd half but generally ineffective....but walking off at the end with his EX villa mates not even acknowledging the crowd summed it up for me.....clearly doesn't care...bye bye reo bye bye.

......town fans made a reasonable noise....be great if most would return at Cardiff next week to show the boys some support......3 losses on bounce could be considered a step backwards....at least a point would be good......see you all there ....Cornishblu

Millwall v Charlton Athletic Your Report added at 23:55:18
.....just back......not too disappointed by this one as there were plenty of positives from it.....would have been great however to celebrate a goal or two and had chopra been sharper and Martin a bit more athletic in running clear of his man a draw wouldn't have been an unfair result.
Am not seeing Martin as mom ...n,daw for me,......he's improving each match that I have seen and adds much needed muscle in the middle of the park.......still not convinced by Henderson and was the only town player not to clap the away fans at end of match......Martin played well but must add the final ball to his game otherwise all his endeavour comes to nothing.
Positives.....back four definitely improving as a unit......we are starting to play out of defence not just hitting it up field....DJ always causes problems....and great to see another youngster blooded further in Hewitt...and although limited got to see some confident touches......mm has got this team working, giving optimism to the supporters and we will get results that reward this type of play...this is a blip rather than a step backwards.....ps thank you for autographs afterwards

....a later than normal report post seeing our second victory whilst on our travels....
a more palatable 10.00am start (Birmingham one of our closest games) saw us travel with v little optimism but eager to see whether MM would have an early influence on the team.....the day had a poor start...Holloway going to CP (why didn't we go for him??), the mancs beating arsenal....could this day get any worse??
Birmingham was freezing little cornishblu turning blue after refusing to wear a coat......but soon warmed up after an early goal that was greeted with an air of flatness as this usually now means that we get beaten 2 -1.
Not so Saturday.....a team that chased after every ball, made sure they were competitive for every loose ball and challenged where they should have been doing these past few weeks....MM in summing up was spot on to say that the team should be embarrassed to be in the position that we are in if we can fight like that....what has been going on in the dressing room?? .....a timely nudge to remind any of these "I'm bigger than the club" players that MM successfully saw off RK in his playing days.....MM clearly a man not to be messed with and made his mark immediately.
Henderson..... don't get the optimism ...flaps too much, cant catch a shot and too inclined to come way off his line to punch a cross weakly out....albeit credit to him for the stop from the Jolly Green Giant
Cresswell..... glimpses of what he used to be like..
Higginbottom....and Chambers ...OK...great to see both players reactions post the final whistle.
Edwards.....am thinking MM will push him forward as soon as EH is fit
Martin.....full of promise lacks final ball ...sold in Jan???...be a shame
Reo Coker....my MoM ...premiership class oozed by controlling midfield
N'Daw.....great holding midfield....gave ball away too easily ....needs to distribute quicker to those with the ball playing skills and stick to what he clearly does well.
Wellens....put in a good shift not the future though.
DJ Cambell......ran his heart out all game and great goal.....could have should have had a couple more
Murphy.....played better in the more narrow front set up.

As a side note Luke and Scott looked thoroughly fed up not even to have been included in the squad....MM needs to keep them smiling.

....so could the day get any worse.....not based on the smiles of the lads as they left the ground....not even naaaarrrich winning dented that....got down the M5 just as the snow was coming down....how bad could the day have been though!!
MM has made a small in road....players should be delighted with the result....bring on CP....take a point and onward and upward (well safety anyway)

Not sure how many of these "fans" who have posted on here actually went to the game....but cornishblu and little cornishblu were able to get to their annual game at PR and were faced with a long drive home yesterday with nothing to shout about.
Most has already been said in one form or other but my biggest concern has got to be the statement from PJ that read he knows the players are good enough.....well on Saturdays performance they clearly are not or if they are they are then they are clearly not being managed well enough
A team that was "high on morale" (luke chambers) must have been left in the dressing room and another team made to run out on the pitch....lacklustre, lacking in self belief, prone to making dreadful individual errors and mistakes, lacking in conviction in front of goal and abject in accurate distribution was the town team that we saw on the pitch on Saturday.
Loach....must be wondering whether he has made the right decision albeit could shout louder and IMO was at fault for the first goal
Cresswell.....clearly pre season speculation has affected him...not worth 6quid at the moment let alone 6mill....get your head right and start performing
Smith....always been a fan but have had to change....way below standard needed for his league....should have dealt with fuller for second goal
Chambers ....ok but needs a strong partner alongside to breed confidence
Edwards....full of endeavour but little end product
Lungo.......ok must be wanting to go back to spurs soon though
Martin......ok but a guarantee yellow card when gets stroppy and didn't disappoint again (note to self should be a betting man!!!!)
Murphy.......good at back end of last season needs to chip in a goal or two for others to recognise contribution
Dury.....always runs his heart out but lacks ultimate quality for this level....needs others around him to perform so his work rate can contribute rather than his lack of skill be the main factor
JET.......so much talent but so little application.....should rip this league to pieces but clearly something missing....needs to go into a dark room and get his head sorted one way or other
Scotland......great trier.....can't do it all on his own
.....no point in having 22 shots on goal if they either end up in the stand or are at 5 mile an hour so easy for the goalie to collect .
May have been the first and last trip to PR but will continue to support away.....but things must change
PJ PJ sort it out!!!!!!!

....first game of season and what a great way to start....thought throughout the team we looked comfortable and certainly played for each other.....what a fantastic assest Scott Loach will be if he continues to react like that....at last a player who clearly wants to play for the shirt....Watford fans must be wondering how they lost him and got Alumunia (??) instead. Just sheer relief at the end when we deservedly scored.....been such a long time since I was in a crowd that reacted like that.....hugging and cheering with strangers all over the place....brilliant. Ref was absolutely diabolical and Watfords physical approach will surely change under a legend that is Zola.....onward and upward but already that performance made up for so many of last years dissapppointments...COYB
