| News Comment | Accrington Stanley 1-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 22:58:48
Northstandveteran is spot on; ME bought the club (took on it's debt), appointed Keane and threw sackfuls of money at him expecting a quick payback with instant promotion to the Premier League. Keane was disastrous - sold the club's promising youngsters (Rhodes, Garvan, Haynes) for a pittance, paid big money for mediocre players, and dismantled the youth structure. ME got his fingers burnt and has been miserly with the cash ever since. We are still suffering from the legacy of Keane. |
| News Comment | Lambert Has Handed Evans List of January Targets at 19:12:22
Given our current situation it makes sense that January signings are loan deals. The type of player we'll need for next season will differ depending on whether we're plying our trade in the Championship or in League One. |
| News Comment | Loanee Graham Training With Oxford and Set for Town Exit at 21:10:28
Fortunately, it hasn't taken PL long to work out which of the two Jordans is worth his salt (Roberts) and which is a waste of time (Graham). I agree with DJ27, Donacien in the right back position hasn't looked out of place. Along with Chalobah, Edwards, Pennington and Edun, these make up only five players that Hurst has signed that have been fit to wear the shirt. |
| News Comment | Millwall 3-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 18:35:37
Obviously Evans and Hurst must take a huge amount of responsibility for this hideous mess. However, I believe Roy Keane is also culpable. When he was appointed, Evans threw a stack of money his way in an attempt to get us promoted, but failed miserably. This served to burn Evans' fingers and he has acted in a relatively miserly way ever since, denying any of his subsequent managers the funds to build a squad that could consistently challenge for promotion. Keane was also responsible for weakening the structure of the club, as well as selling many of our most promising younger players for relatively small transfer fees. This should not be forgotten. If Lambert keeps us in the Championship this season, he may well deserve a statue outside the ground. |
| News Comment | Blues Linked With Renewed Tilt Interest at 19:12:39
I believe that we're well loaded with players from lower leagues, I would prefer to bring in Cameron Carter-Vickers again. Also, how about Gareth McAuley? Ok, he's 38 years old but he was a regular Premier League player up until less than a year ago. He could be a useful squad player, bring experience to the dressing room and - as a free agent - wouldn't use up any of our loan allocation. |
| News Comment | Double Signing From Shrews Confirmed at 13:50:03
It's all looking promising. Not too fussed about bringing Tilt in. Reckon that Woolfenden is well capable of stepping up, so along with Chambers, Nsiala, Knudsen and Spence we're well covered in the CB positions. Hurst obviously also feels that Donacien can play centrally as well, and I always think that Josh Emmanuel is built like a centre back. |
| News Comment | Evans: New Manager Unlikely Before End of Season at 10:31:31
I don't know that this appointment is any more, or less, important than Evans' last two, given the league positions the club were in at those points. Steijn or Paul Tisdale of Exeter City are top of my wish list. |
| News Comment | Cardiff and Birmingham Linked With McGoldrick at 19:38:58
Football is a business/sport that defies all logic. It seems highly possible that David McGoldrick will leave the club this month and bring in less money than Keiffer Moore. Unbelievable. |
| News Comment | Town Unveil New Away Kit at 20:11:11
All the players modelling the strip look as miserable as I did watching them |
| News Comment | Milne: Massive Rebuilding Over the Summer at 13:04:29
Perhaps the launch of the new kit has been delayed as talks to sell the club are at an advanced stage and a new owner certainly wouldn't retain ME's shirt sponsorship. Such unprecedented uncertainty at the club - manager's position and so many players' futures up in the air - would back up this theory. A new owner, manager and playing squad along with plans to relocate and build a new stadium on the old sugar beet factory site would be the ideal way of consigning this most forgettable of eras to the dustbin. I guess I'm living in dreamtime but clutching at straws can sometimes help you to remain sane. |
| News Comment | Town Announce 2017/18 Season Ticket Prices at 14:00:48
If Theresa May and Philip Hammond are big enough to realise that they had made a huge mistake and reverse it within a week, surely Marcus Evans and Ian Milne can do the same. |
| News Comment | Leeds Midfielder Close to Joining Blues on Loan at 18:03:55
In the 4 years that Mick has been at the club, how many players has he signed that another club has wanted? Without trawling through the full list, I can only think of Webster, Sears and Wordsworth (not counting non league signings eg Mings, Moore). The rest have been loans, free transfers, free agents or players bought that haven't been able to make the first team elsewhere. Diagouraga is another unwanted journeyman. |
| News Comment | Bajner Set for Loan at 14:39:58
Sorry, read it wrong. Saw Lee Johnson quoted and thought it was Oldham that had signed him. |
