Town Allay Concerns After Petition Order Dismissed at High Court
at 07:50:23

NorthLondonBlue2 - I get it totally. As you there is likely to have been a fair bit of warning and failure to comply. The key question is whether this is because we are financially struggling or more likely (IMHO) that ME wants to keep the monies in his accounts for as long as possible and until he has no choice.

Blues1 - It is indeed correct we paid if 6 weeks ago, but that will be the proverbial 11th hour in terms of the settlement. Smoke and mirrors in play

Where Did It All Go Wrong for Paul Hurst?
at 17:20:36

Well written. I was very concerned from Hull away onwards and felt things were wrong at many levels, and not just with the squad experience. I maintain that the dropping of the keeper caused even more dressing room unrest and it seemed he was a defeated man in may press conferences, body language not good and stood, hands in pockets on the touchline often with few words. The disconnect with the players, except those he brought with him, seemed obvious and his choice of assistant has probably contributed to what was going on at the club.

Ipswich Town 1-1 Preston North End - Match Report
at 18:33:11

I was not there today, work commitments 300 miles away...however listened to Suffolk and Sky. A lot seems better, but clearly this squad is not the one PL needs in its entirety and scoring goals clearly remains a massive issue. Those who expect miracles need to wait until January to see what manoevering can be done in the market. That said definitely sounds streets from where we were under PH. Its going to be a struggle to stay up, the damage done by PH reign has left a legacy that cannot be immediately corrected, I wonder if some free agents may appear soon.

Favourites for Relegation

This blog is excellent and mirrors virtually what a lot of us think in terms of how we felt at appointment and how we feel now. I think it is painfully obvious that things are fractious within the squad/management team although there is no actual evidence to back this up, just heresy. ME is actually the saviour of the club, unless people know of another willing horse happy to bankroll the debt. Without him we *may* have had further financial issues, with him (like Mike Ashley) we have had to work with limited funds and this has impacted upon how we are able to recruit, retain playing staff. The situation has been made worse by yet another stubborn manager who is thus far, steadfastly refusing to accept he may be wrong in terms of his philosophies.

If the sports science is making our players fitter and more ready for game time then it is simply not translating onto the pitch and along with low/no confidence the squad is wafer thin, even before the injury woes.

Hurst: Few Calls on Free Agents
at 15:45:35

We are clearly short in the striking department and were before the injuries, now it has become critical, imagine if Jackson gets crocked tonight? Surely we know the players who could come in at this point and do a job. Most are ageing or not very good so its a straight up choice (as far as I am concerned) between the Darren Bent type free agent or giving Lankester a run-out. Short sighted policy, presumably by PH, to let Morris go on loan particularly after a lively cameo against Blackburn, and of course with no recall on him. Drinan has played 14 for Sutton with no goals so would be a concern, but as said above its hard to know if PH is going to persist with one up front.

Gerken Starts as Bart Dropped in Much-Changed Town Derby Line-Up

itfcserbia - have you seen Spence and Gerks over the years? Here is hoping that they prove me wrong. Good with Graham, Walters and 2 up.....but not sure about the back.

Is Donacien injured? Bart was at fault for 3 so far this season but the defence collectively is equally culpable. Far from sure that Spence back in is a steadying influence. Not sure whether the brave changes are good or massively misguided and knee jerk

For me Dozzell has to stay at town and get himself more robustly fit. It seems the club are not making the mistakes of last year where injuries kept happening and players appeared to be rushed back. Much as I would love to see him in the team or on the bench he is clearly not ready. I am definitely concerned re. Chalobah and Skuse in midfield, both are wanting to be similar but Skuse is not exactly fitting into the system in the forward position - swap them over perhaps where Chalobah's skill and poise on the ball could make more of a difference. Hoping Edwards is fit as he really does have the ability to excite, like many others would like to see Jackson and Harrison playing as a pair.

My team would be 4-4-2: Bart - Donacien - Kenlock - Nsiala - Chambers, Edwards - Chalobah - Skuse (deep lying) - Edun. Harrison - Jackson. The bench needs to be able to swap about and change so would include Downes, Nydam and Ben Morris.

Four Make Debuts for Blues at Palace
at 19:28:28

MM has no choice - we simply cannot afford any more injuries to first team squad players, or of course a suspension for a rash tackle or two. What irks a bit is that Kevin Bru at least could have played had he been registered and not just left languishing - clearly he is not here to stay but what is there to lose in registering him? Whilst Palace have put out a changed side it still has bags of Premier League experience and a bench with more internationals on it. I will be amazed if the game is not as one sided as we expect, and that is not to take anything away from the youngsters.

Webster Out Until After International Break
at 17:05:03

Cat - its one player - one who did not play except for a few minutes last Saturday. Chambers/Smith/Iorfa/Spence/Knudsen is a decent and flexible group. Yes it leaves little back up, but of course we can switch to 4-4-2 if forced. Not asking you to apologise for the "negativity" as like most of us you have got used to fearing the worst - but this is the most positive start to a new season in a while due to the signings, and more importantly the change in MM from pervious years in terms of selection, outlook and decent communication.

Town 1-0 Birmingham - Match Report
at 17:37:35

First off I hope the news for Andre is not as devastating as I fear. The lad needs a run of first team games to move forward but it seems that is now on hold, those around him need to support and encourage him more than ever. The irony was that in the first half it was Dozzell who tried to tease us forward and towards a goat that did not seem likely. The second half it seemed the injury blow had fired up the team. Today the return of 3 5 2 seemed to work and whilst the tenacious and clearly talented Downes impressed it was the likes of Skuse and Ward who stood out. The mom however has to be Joe Garner, he battled with bigger centre halves and won more than he lost, he was strong and powerful when helping the defence out at set plays and took his goal very well. Negatives? Only a couple, Knudsen was poor except for the cross that's found Garner, and Sears looks a shadow of his former self with little or no end product. With Huws, Didz and Adeyemi to come back, things definitely look bright.

Town Linked With Move for Huddersfield Winger
at 13:13:53

Talking with a Huddersfield fan in the office where I work, and Bunn is described as a good little player who will get some, but not a hatful of goals. He can play wide as alluded to elsewhere and probably a decent addition. To add weight to the rumour, he has been playing during the pre-season - presumably so watching scouts can run the rule over him - as my colleague says he is not in the first team picture per se.

Gillingham 2-1 Town - Match Report
at 12:59:28

To a point we can forget the opposition, but surely any wins give positivity and other clubs do have good, winning pre-seasons - we seem happy just to have players getting a run out and taking part. That winning mentality is needed, it was missing for 90% of last season - regrettably this is the same way MM has treated the cup competitions in his tenure.

Three Players Town Should Sign

Interesting names, would not be averse to any but as said perhaps there are other options. I like the look of John Marquis at Doncaster, but agree Danny Ward is a proper number 9. The key however, is to not play a lone striker with little or no support.

Ipswich Town 0-1 Sheffield Wednesday - Match Report

A number of times today a town player got the ball and looked for options only to see none, do they do pass and stand rather than pass and move? It is indicative of us that the lack of movement means no forward options and the ball played as a percentage down th channels.
