Take me back to league one now
at 10:43 6 Oct 2019

Like I said a few months ago - I enjoyed league one more than the championship. A rekindled enthusiasm for the weekends and going into games as the odds on favourites (unheard of in barnsley fc history)

The prima donnas in the championship - only 11 games in - is evident and I’d much rather have lumps kicked out of us in league 1

Would I swap? Yes, in a heartbeat

The one thing you lot need to do -which we haven’t done - is keep hold of a winning squad and add some experience a championship guile as the level of diving and gamesmanship is in abundance

Good luck for the remainder of the season

thoughts on next season?
at 11:51 12 Apr 2019

I posted a while ago that I thought getting rid of MM might bite you on the harris and was pretty much told to mind my own (Which is fair enough as I'm a Barnsley fan)

Paul Lambert for me is from a similar school of managers as MM and didnt really see it as an ambitious appointment and wouldve been quite underwhelmed had he joined us. Paul Hurst fair enough - I wouldnt have minded him at Oakwell but the lure of a bigger club in yourselves proved too much and seemed to be a bit of a car crash and naive tactically from what I can gather

Is your squad good enough to be competitive next season in the ale houses? littered with academy graduates etc ?

If its any consolation its been refreshing going to games with a sense of belief that we might actually win most weeks as opposed to the opposite in the championship where we cant seem to compete.

Be careful what you wish for!

Exactly that! I appreciate that the recent Mick McCarthy wantaway club is probably a minority however if you were to have to handpick a manager who would keep you up on an average budget then MM would be one of the people in the frame.

I am a Barnsley fan and we sacked Dave Bassett not long after you beat us at Wembley in the Play off final, within just over a season we were relegated - funnily enough, we then had to work on a budget at this level but in my opinion now and at the time he was the right man.

I accept as a Barnsley fan that we arent going to play the best football and win countless trophies - I am a realist and unfortunately I think Ipswich have to be the same. You too are pretty much shopping in the bargain basement (albeit on a bigger budget than us) and having to either develop or resurrect a career.

I fear that unless you spend some serious money (of which that is nothing to do with the manager) then you too could well be following us through the championship trapdoor in the not too distant future.

You have let a manager walk who has nearly a 40% win rate on a low budget who has wheeled and dealed effectively for 5 years.

Lets be honest , you havent done a great deal since the Robson days (which is getting on for 40 years) and like Barnsley where you potentially always used to sit in the pecking order is dropping and a new generation of fans will only see you as a middle to low end 2nd tier club as we used to be (Obviously due to the absurd amounts of money being spent). We have spent more time than any other team in the second tier of football however do we rightfully belong there? not at all, we are now potentially a yo-yo club from league 1 to championship.

Its foolish to think you will get a new manager in and with the same group of players will play expansive, attractive open football - especially when the last group of players didnt want him to leave.

The modern era of fans seem to have lost their sense of perspective in the quest for getting to the premier league and its embarressment of riches. Personally I would rather have a well run yo-yo club that is here for the long-haul on a sustainable business model that generates good youth players that still has a connection with the fans as opposed to overpaid primadonnas in the team all coining in £300000 a week.

I unfortunately think you could seriously regret the leaving of Mick McCarthy
