Political advisors, or more precisely Special Advisors (Spads) are civil servants. At least in name. They don't ever behave with the propriety expected of career Civil Servants.
In an early episode of Yes Minister, Jim Hacker arrives with his advisor, who is deftly steered by Sir Humphrey into the bowels of the Ministry, never to be seen again.
That's the way to deal with them.
