Do we actually have our own song - not stolen from anyone ??
at 22:48 21 Feb 2019

I was there when it was sung on the North Stand late 60s/70s and I'm certain it was Arsenal instead of Man City for us Southerners. Good luck with the efforts to create a better atmosphere at the Road!

A good North Stand terrace song from the late 60s early 70s. Could easily change the opening verse which we used to sing from.......
In Dublins fair city where the girls are so pretty...
I first set my eyes on sweet molly malone...
as she wheeled her wheel barrow through streets broad and narrow
crying....(fast) clap clap..clap clap clap etc ...Ipswich..Ipswich.... in place of ..cockles and mussels alive alive oh!
change it to Ipswich fair city (although we all know its not a city) or
In Norwich fair city , where the girls are so sh--y I first set my eyes on..
still no idea why we started singing it but bringing back fond memories

Ha ha....think I'd stay well clear if I ever returned home (which I probably won't) Wondered that myself as it's still the Evening Star in my brain!

I was there for that night game and yes it was loud. Also remember a national newspaper next day report mentioning how the Town fans roared on the team as I had a newspaper clipping for years. I guess it was 69/70 season and Robertson had an excellent game against one of his old clubs.
Another one from those days which we sung was...The sweet Molly Malone, as she wheeled her wheelbarrow through streets broad and narrow, crying.....!!!

This really should be another thread topic..'.Memories of Weeley Fest!'
I was also there for one day/night sleeping rough in the fields of rural Essex as a 16 year old and would be a pleasant change from all the politics threads!

I grew up watching Town throughout the 60s and without a doubt 'Keep right on to the end of the Road' was probably the first song I can recall all parts of the Stadium singing together. We seemed to drop it early 70s when 'Amazing Grace...Ipswich, Ipswich with scarfs held above heads became the next anthem from all areas of Portman Rd. Sure I remember that music booming out from speakers as the teams were getting ready to run out for the start.

Don't think I've ever seen this before so thanks for sharing. I was working out in the Middle East back in those days and my 3 month there 3 week home contracts got me home just in time to be out in Amsterdam for the Final....much to the dismay of my then wife!!

Anyone watched the BBC FA Cup 'Match of the Day'?

That's certainly woken the old memory cells. For some stupid reason my mate and I 'attempted' thumbing it from Ipswich to Stoke that day. Somewhere around St Neoets (I think) mid Saturday we gave up and trained home...I'd rather not say what time we started the adventure!

My results..Ipswich, London and Brighton were the highlighted areas. Me....Surrey born but Ipswich raised. My vague memory from the school playground of the game touch (or maybe tag) which seems to add me to Wales unless i've misunderstood

My dislike goes back even further, to the 75 semi finals. Upton Park is by far the London stadium I've been to the most at a guess more than 30 times. Second time was with my local boys team end of season treat to see Man Utd thrash the Hammers 6-1 to clinch the title way back in time.

Yep, noticed and thought what a scruffy t---t he looked! And then after he netted, mobbed by his team mates laying on top of him laughing like a baby I noticed they were tickling him under the arms ...kids!!

FA Cup Dust Up Highlights: Millwall v Everton ... just like the old days

If this is the FA Cup game you're on about then the carload group I was with were attacked from behind outside the stadium before the game. Nothing to serious apart from punches and kicks thrown and all over in seconds but remember there being lots of police close by but no intervention on their behalf as if they almost enjoyed the fact the locals kids were 'teaching' the traveling fans a lesson!

The MLS league will be up and running through the summer so you could take in a game at the L A Galaxy or San Jose Earthquakes. A visit and tour of a winery up in the Napa Valley would be on my to do list if I'm in the San Fran area.
