Sprucie I agree with everything you have said in this post barring your last phrase about coming home to roost. That sounds very much like a few years ago when there was riots in London and a senior politician stated "the police got a good kicking". The amount of work that has been done by the police to improve is commendable, sometimes one person can undo all the good work, that happens in all walks of life. Don't tarnish them all with a catch all comment, we all may need them sometime.
I think we all know where you were going with that one. I will tell you a little story about my brother in law who travelled up to Liverpool one evening arriving in the early hours. He got stopped twice in the space of around 20 minutes, his crime was driving a Ford Escort XRi. On both occasions when he checked out who he was, the answer he got was "up here people out driving one of these cars early in the morning usually do not own it". So sometimes they should not make assumptions I guess, but they really do have a hard job to do which will have been made harder due to the events in the US and now Ipswich. As a side note the salary being quoted on here is way off the mark, very very low 20's when you start gradually rising with yearly increments, to no where near the upper figure quoted unless you rise through the ranks. I do think the choice of words by the female officer was inappropriate but we do not see what was said before the camera phone started. I think that during the interview with the senior Police officer on the news she alluded to there being a current operation in the area.
Crikey Badger thats a big condemnation of all thats wrong at PR. You have all the answers, You need to be on the board of directors, or at the very least buy the club please. Spruce is up for the managers job, Premier League here we come.
