Anyone know how the lady was that got knocked over on London Road?
at 11:24 2 Apr 2024

She was on a bike and got hit by a car a few in front of us as we drove to the game last night. Few Ipswich fans stopped and were helping out/on the phone to the Ambulance.

Hope she was OK. Looked like she was out for the count.

The PL's FFP rules...
at 10:20 27 Mar 2024

With all the chat about the FFP rules and how they keep the bottom clubs from competing, wouldn't it make sense to give promoted clubs a one-off, free year (maybe limited to once every five years or something, to stop yo-yo clubs doing it every single time?)

So when you get promoted, your first year isn't counted towards FFP. There should be regulations with that, of course - namely, that the money spent must be covered in its entirety by the owners and not placed as a lasting debt on the club (to stop bad owners running a club into the ground by spending big)...

Also, if it was a rule that EVERY single contract in the Prem - even those of KDB, Grealish etc - have to have a relegation clause in them - then it would go some way to solving the problem of clubs being loaded with big contracts on relegation.

Is that too simple? Probably, I don't lay claim to being much of an economics buff...

Why didn't Blue Action go opposite the away fans?
at 09:03 27 Aug 2023

First time in the SAR yesterday and the noise from BA was decent for the most part, but when they moved, is there a reason they didn't go into the section of Magnus directly opposite the away fans?

A missed opportunity to face off against them and really make some noise. Seemed a bit weird having both sets of noisy fans in the same stand, singing towards the quiet stand...?

Can they even really hear the away fans up there and vice versa?

KM not rumoured for Saints job
at 09:39 15 May 2023

Obviously I'm happy about it, but with people like Rooney and Schumacher on the shortlist for the Saints job, I wonder why KM isn't being discussed?

Reckon it's because he and the club have made it clear he's not available? You've got to think if there was a chance, a club like Southampton would consider him.

LOL. ChatGPT wrote us a promotion chant
at 14:49 27 Apr 2023

... to the tune of the American national anthem for our owners.

It's... well, it has words, I'll give it that. Now we just need to book Beyonce to sing it on the pitch for us. I'm sure Ed's got her number.

Oh Ipswich Town, we rise with pride,
Our team has won, we cannot hide,
With Broadhead leading every fight,
And Hirst’s goals shining bright.

Morsy’s skills, they can’t deny,
He guides our team, he’ll never lie,
And Kieran McKenna, our guiding star,
He leads us on, both near and far.

Oh Ipswich Town, our hearts beat true,
We’re back on top, with all of you,
Our team will never cease to fight,
We’ll take on all with all our might.

So let us stand and sing with glee,
For Ipswich Town, our destiny,
We’ll keep on winning, through thick and thin,
Our chant will echo, let it begin!

Restricted view seats
at 10:55 23 Sep 2022

Maybe I'm being daft, but having looked at all the restricted view seats now on sale for the Pompey game.... why have we got so many?!

I get the odd pillar here and there, given they're needed to hold the roof up. But it seems as though the West Stand's back few rows are ALL restricted, presumably by the roof itself.

Who builds a roof that blocks the view of the pitch?

Or has something changed over time that means the view is NOW restricted but wasn't when it was built?

Art of Football retro Ipswich kit
at 13:24 9 Aug 2022

For people who like collecting the older shirts, Art of Football has just got a whole bunch of shirts in and there's a few Ipswich in there, plus an old training top.

Also a kinda bizarre 90s fan shirt that looks like an Ice Hockey kit. Anyone remember that one!?

Buying Foals member tickets
at 12:49 14 Jul 2022

Hey up,

I'm trying to buy some tickets for the Bolton game and can't seem to get it done. Am I being an idiot? (probably!)

I've signed in as my daughter (the Foals member), I select the tickets, allocate them to our family, but the 'buy tickets' button is always greyed out.

Is there something really obvious that I'm doing wrong? I'm pretty sure Foals members are treated as silver members for ticket sales so I should be able to get them already, right?

German (?) Football song?
at 15:33 17 Jun 2022

I just came back from holiday in Greece and spent many an evening at the kids' disco (I have kids. I'm not a total weirdo)...

One song, called "und ich flieg wie einer flieger" (on Spotify if you care to look it up) sent everyone mental - inuding the adults, who ALL knew every word and all the dance moves.

So I looked it up when I got home and it's on a playlist called Fussball WM Songs.

Anyone here recognise it? I know there are a few German football aficionados on here so wondered if it was a big footy song and what the footy lyrics are?

Retro Adidas remakes
at 13:18 8 Apr 2022

Hi all.

I might have missed these being released, but what's the deal with these? They're not COPA, they're official Adidas, right? Or is it a knockoff?

Does anyone have one? I'm on the hunt for a new shirt for footy training and wondered whether these are 'sports' quality or if they're baking hot like the COPA ones are...?

Age when you first took your kids to the footy
at 10:32 9 Jan 2022

My daughter (nearly 4) has been getting in my ear about going to the football ever since she got her Foals membership at the start of the season. I've no idea if she'll like it but she's dead excited about meeting Bluey (!) and seems to show an interest in Ipswich, so I kind of don't want to miss the opportunity to get her into the game.

We also get free tickets through the Foals thing, so it's literally a free pass to give it a go this season.

Anyone ever taken a 3/4 year old? How'd it go down?

Trains at Christmas

Anyone here know what the trains are usually like at Christmas on Greater Anglia?

I've got an offer of tickets on 29th Dec and 1st Jan and would like a beer or three, but am I likely to be stuck on some daft rail replacement service if I'm coming from London?

... that's a weird analogy for a British bloke - especially a northerner - to use, isn't it?

I mean, it does stop. Quite regularly. Sometimes it's sunny for about 45 minutes and then when you come back out of the dressing room it's torrential rain and misery for the next 45 minutes.

New kit popularity

Just went to have a gander at the online club shop and see if there were kids' versions of the new kit and I'm 508 in the queue! Is that normal on the first day, or is it crazy busy? I don't go on there very often but I've never seen a queue before...

Who's responsible for the 'culture change?'
at 12:10 16 Feb 2021

I saw a thread on a mate's FB the other day - he used to play for Ipswich as a youngster up to the age of 16 or 17, I think - and he was chatting with other players from his team.

They were all saying that Town used to be a real family club, very friendly, very welcoming etc. Now, Lee O'Neill (who would've been in their team) never texts back any more now that he's got his new job, and how when one of the guys whose son plays for them up the road, came for a game against Ipswich, none of the ITFC staff would say hello to him or even acknowledge he was there even though they were his coaches for years.

It's a weird thing, that a culture should change so much at a club and must be a part of why we're not doing as well nowadays, but I don't think that can be down to Lambert, and given Evans is fairly hands-off, it surely isn't on his direction that it's happening either?
