I love this idea that the League is on our side and trying to get us promoted. I mean, they *could* instruct refs to give red cards in our favour (the odd penalty wouldn't go amiss), but they can't make Southampton miss all their chances. If they'd put the game to bed when they were on top for large parts of the game, it would have taken about five penalties for the league to 'get what they want' |

Yeah exactly - presumably that's going to be some kind of year-round, luxury members club like Shoreditch House, which will be a huge money spinner, especially in that area of town. I think it's a great idea! |
| Forum Thread | The PL's FFP rules... at 10:20 27 Mar 2024
With all the chat about the FFP rules and how they keep the bottom clubs from competing, wouldn't it make sense to give promoted clubs a one-off, free year (maybe limited to once every five years or something, to stop yo-yo clubs doing it every single time?) So when you get promoted, your first year isn't counted towards FFP. There should be regulations with that, of course - namely, that the money spent must be covered in its entirety by the owners and not placed as a lasting debt on the club (to stop bad owners running a club into the ground by spending big)... Also, if it was a rule that EVERY single contract in the Prem - even those of KDB, Grealish etc - have to have a relegation clause in them - then it would go some way to solving the problem of clubs being loaded with big contracts on relegation. Is that too simple? Probably, I don't lay claim to being much of an economics buff... |

I wore an Ipswich tie for the Norwich game (hospitality w**ker). First time I'd ever worn it but thought I'd make an effort. Took it off on roughly 60 minutes. We scored as soon as the knot came undone. Never wearing it again. |

No way. They're a club that seem to regenerate quite regularly and pull it out of nowhere. Them staying down for another season and losing parachute payments would be lovely. Them coming up? You never know what'd happen. It's all well and good us saying how much better than them we are this year, but given a cash injection (and potentially with a new owner?) there's always a chance they come back to life again. Relegated to league one, please. We can always play them in the FA cup. |

Watching that back, I still think their number 23 shoves Hladky for their second goal. Personally, I wish that wasn't a foul in the modern game, but how often do we see it given? Protect the keeper and all that |

They're very proud of their hate speech, aren't they? |

Cancel the rest of the games and encourage the lads to all have babies. Create a real, homegrown youth team that'll pay dividends in 20 years time. |

"restore fairness" LOL. This is the Premier League and FA we're talking about. Restoring money is more important than restoring fairness, and replacing Manchester City with Ipswich Town is not part of that plan. |

Unfortunately, I think injuries and our current situation might put a little dent in the management team's 'Big Plan' for a while. Normally, I'd say Parrott is perfect for us - young, talented and with some of that KMc magic sprinkled over him, could go on to be an Ipswich legend/big money sale for the club. But right now, we need guaranteed goals, and he ain't that. I wonder if we'll actually go for a late 20s/30 year old striker on loan (no idea who, though!) |
