| News Comment | Clubs Agree to Amend FFP Rules at 14:45:02
I am glad that they haven't backtracked over the punishments for rules already in place which it seem that Ipswich have been trying to adhere to. I'm not totally clear how losing £13 million a year is sustainable though, maybe for clubs gambling to try and get promoted, but that won't work for everyone. |

I wonder if Tabb is chosen to offer more protection to Mings while he is still learning his position? |
| News Comment | McCarthy Expects to Have Fully Fit Squad for Owls Trip at 16:05:56
Getting Henderson with a recall clause would not be the solution. The opportunity is really there for Gerken or Loach to claim the number one spot here but at the moment neither one seems to be able to cement their place. Hopefully the pressure of both competing for that one spot will bring the best out of one of them. |
| News Comment | Lee Not Far Off First Team Return at 10:02:03
Lee has the potential to become a bit of a cult hero for Town. I can see him chipping in with a few important goals. |

I suppose your argument makes sense. If a team scores 1.5 goals a game with a good defence they should do well.I suppose my differing viewpoint comes from the fact I don't expect town to be promoted this season. I feel a good season would be a top half finish with a shout of the playoffs still towards the end of the season. It would be nice to have something to play for still by March unlike the last few seasons. I think gradual improvement, investment in youth, some clever scouting and managerial consistency is the key to our long term success though. |
| Blog Comment | What's the Magic Number? at 13:44:00
I think it's fair to say that scoring more goals will lead to a team being more successful, but you say that two seasons ago we scored 69 and the season before that 62. Those seasons we finished 13th and 15th, and last season when finishing 14th we scored just 48. I think there's more to it than just having a goal scorer. Hull got promoted without any player reaching double figures. I like our team at the moment and hopefully with an increasing emphasis on young talent Ipswich will continue to grow over the next few years. |
| News Comment | McCarthy: Cup Win Will Help League Form at 10:38:24
I'm sure before the season started McCarthy said something along the lines that we will have a squad of 20 outfield players and if we get injuries then he will use the younger players. I hope he gives the likes of David October a chance, you never know exactly how players will develop until they play competitive fixtures. |
| Blog Comment | Don't Get Too Excited at 15:01:30
An interesting view. I would be interested to see how this years aggregate appearances compares with previous seasons, and with other teams in the championship. While I agree that team stability is very important to the success of the team, the signings made this summer were completely necessary, and several of the loans from last year were kept on which should mean that there will be greater continuity than if completely new signings were made instead of these. I would also suggest that managerial stability tends to bring greater player stability as a new manager will want to sign his own players. Hopefully a successful period under Mick McCarthy will bring this. |
| Blog Comment | Season Preview 2013/14 at 16:09:33
A really good read, probably more interesting than a lot of the pre-season predictions that will be in the papers. Being a bit picky, you say that Nigel Adkins and Brian McDermott have both won the league. Southampton actually finished 2nd the season Reading won the Championship. Living in Southampton i feel that I should point that out, but don't let me take away from a well written piece. |
| Blog Comment | Championship Season 2013/14: A Foolhardy Forecast at 16:53:10
Interesting method of predicting the results of the whole season, will have to compare this to the final table in May. I think that perhaps end of season results from last season may have been given too great an emphasis. With a break of a few months and several players coming and going in most cases, I think it is unlikely that teams will maintain their form into the next season. Also, a bad start to a season often leads to a change in manager (I think a majority of Championship teams changed managers last season) and then who knows what could happen. Basically, I think the point I'm trying to make is that predicting a whole season is completely impossible, however I am optimistic that Ipswich are in good hands and should be challenging for playoffs. |
| News Comment | Khumalo Could Join Town This Week at 15:42:46
Having loan players who are only here for a few weeks is a problem, but i think a season long loan allows stability with the squad. We need two more centre backs really, so to have either Khumalo or Seaborne challenging Smith and Chambers for a first team place, plus hopefully a younger centre back for the future would be ideal in my opinion. |
| News Comment | JET Unsure on Future at 23:33:12
I think the problem is not a question of talent, but more of wages. Both of these players will be on high wages and are yet to cement themselves in Mick McCarthy's first XI. With this financial fair play coming in these wages could be better spent I feel. I think it's a similar situation with Lee Martin who, whatever people's personal opinions are, has been a regualr in the team for the majority of this season. Removing these 3 players from the wage bill may allow about 5 shrewd signings hopefully |
| Blog Comment | A Plea For Patience at 14:46:50
I think loyalty and stability have an important role to play in football. As a supporter it is easier to get behind players that have been at the club for several seasons and helps create an impression of it being your team more than is the case with several short term loan players in the squad, or by the inevitable changes that a new manager brings. That being said, small margins can make all the difference especially when there is so much money involved. The sacking of Nigel Adkins at Southampton is seen as harsh (rightly) considering the job he did to get Southampton to the Premier League, but since then the team has seen an improvement and is looking to now establish itself in the Premier League potentially for years to come. I think it is understandable why a chairman would take a risk on improving his teams position. Particularly when often the same loyalty isn't shown by managers who want to move to bigger clubs. |
| News Comment | Boss Still Wants More From Emmanuel-Thomas at 21:15:46
Without his block last week and the assist this week we could be 3 points worse off and in even more in danger. At 22 he could be an important player for Ipswich in the future. |
