Ipswich Town v Portsmouth Your Report added at 04:37:48
Interesting match, Ipswich by far the better footballing team, but the end product is still missing? The defence, and with stand in Burgess having a man of the match display, looked solid, but with the injury to Morsy and the previous to Evans, our midfield look a trifle lightweight, missing driving runs, not sideway passes. Having said that we made Portsmouth look a very ordinary side today. We may miss out on promotion this year, but Town under MacKenner are finally sowing the seeds of a far better future for our club.

El Mizouni and Jackson the only standout players, the lack of a reall captain on the pitch, allowed the team to think that the game was done at half time. Our second half was a disgrace, letting in two soft goals. Oh we have slipped from a major side, to a team beaten by a team youngsters learning to ply their trade. Paul Cook sort it NOW!

Morsy added as manager on the pitch = an Ipswich home win. He released Evans to attack and score, Celina, back on
the wing to create and be a menance, not as a number 10, that Chaplin could earn, but to supply . No aimless playing from the back today.

Missed chances almost cost us, but a comical goal grabbed us a point. Not a very good alround team performance or choice of formation or tactics in my opinion. We have two centre backs that are fine at defending, but are not comfortable on the ball, hence cut out this laboured passing at the back, why are all teams trying to adopt this style of playing? to keep possession may be your answer, but by the time any forward movement is made, all opposition are back in their own half, and our attackers titled marked. Time for Paul Cook to emulate our top former Managers, Ramsey and Robson and adopt an Ipswich style, that is different to the Norm?

Entertaining first half, by both teams, but Town didn't come out for the second half. Our woeful defending and lack of midfield leadership throughout, coupled with naive tactics made the game easy for a well drilled Bolton side. Burns, Bonne and Aluko put in fine performances, plus Donacien from the bench, but perhaps Manager Cook needs help from someone like MacGreal to help cure our defensive woes?

I thought today's game was very enjoyable, just the result disappointing. Much of Towns attacking play is far more exciting, just more care is needed with the final pass/cross. Our Achilles heel now appears to be the centre core of the side, that includes our captain and keeper, neither commanding enough. Still early doors, but we really need that first win, and it should not take three goals scored by us to achieve it.

Entertaining first half, yet another poor goal given to our opponents, Aluko, who looked way off the pace, dallied, a swift cross was then some how converted. This should have not proved a problem as Town bossed the game, hitting the woodwork twice, but spurning too many chances. Our play from the back is too predictable and laboured, sometimes it would be good to see an old fashioned punt up front?, or a midfielder demanding the ball. We exit this cup, but Bailey-Clements, Dobra and Humphreys, did not look out of place.
Yet another cup, not deemed worthy to worry about, the next, The PJ Trophhy, I will not be going to, BUT if we do not put our whole effort into The FA Cup, as former winners, to go as far as we can while still aiming to win the 3rd tier, then that would not be worthy of supporting a side that gave the England side their greatest Managers in Sir Alf Ramsey and Bobby Robson.

An entertaining opener for a much changed club and team. Defensive play to be sorted, as both goals conceded were of an amateur level. Our two goals scored showed the best of two different styles of play, the first a constructive move of quality first time passing an quality finish, the second, root one from the keeper, quality header by Norwood to Bonne for a quality finish.
In League 1, you do not need defensive players, trying to to be footballing maestros, let them concentrate on winning the ball and passing to a creative midfielder to then earn their corn.

Great result. There is finally a plan to the way we play this year! See what the opponents can do during the first part of the game, then hit them with a killer blow. Four excellently executed goals scored today.

A below performance today. Slow out of the blocks, but caught The Dons with a sucker punch. With Dozzell, our playmaker now tightly marked, we need more from Bishop, Sears, Nolan and Edwards to give Hawkins a sniff of a goal. Really impressed with Nsiala and Wilson at the heart of the defence, and Chambers put in a good shift. A really strange game by Holy, flapped, saved, but at his height should really control the box much more. A hard fought draw, by the 10 men left after the injuries to Ward and then Downes.

What a difference the substitutions made, with Town dominating the second half to win this game. You can see a different style of play adopted this year, with Dozzell the playmaker and goals now coming from midfield, with a centre forward now linking up play, ie Drinan or Hawkins, with Nolan and Edwards now showing their class at this level. We must try to keep Downes, and tell him his worth to our club, with our wonderful youth players now coming through.

Entertaining, even 1st half, despite both sides being shot shy, Oxford scoring just before half-time, with a well executed goal.
Town didn't turn up for the second half, Jackson, our only likely scorer totally negated, with his frustrations leading to a red card.
Bizarre changes to personel and system by Paul Lambert, during the second half, totally out 'foxed' us supporters, probably the team, but not our opponents.

A fine team performance, from a settled side and system, against well organised opposition. A very watchable game. Onwards and upwards now. Three hard games to follow, but if PL keeps to this team and formation, we as fans, might just believe we have a team, and squad to be Champions?

Yet another fine win, only listened on Radio Suffolk so I have not marked players. Seemed that we lacked a midfield player to bring our front two of Jackson and Norwood into the game. Still the first time that we have won without the outstanding Downes in the team, and well done Rowe for adding the winning goal, always something that he has in his locker.

A far more balance team/formation selected. So good to have Woolfenden, Downes and Norwood back in the line-up, adding strength to 'the spine' of the team, with only Garbutt and keeper Norris, not our own, a bit different to previous years?
Still need PL to keep to a settled system, to allow players to gel, no five changes per game, just change like for like, but keep the same system for league games?
For The FA Cup, pick your best, we need a run in this...we actually WON it once, in distant history, but now having to start in the 1st Round, please let 'The Phoenix' rise again, for at lease a few rounds?

Ipswich Town v Rotherham United Your Report added at 01:56:10
Very poor disjointed performance, only Georgiou gave us a glimmer of class. Constant team changes/formation changes is killing this team.
A well organised Rotherham could have beaten us by far more, while we could only give their keeper one shot to save during the entire game tonight.
Let's forget about cancelling games during the so called International breaks, as it is halting team progress, while making it a hardship for the fans. Only Downes (if required for International duty) would be a miss to the team, as he was tonight and on Sunday.
Paul Lambert, you have done a wonderful job in uniting the fanbase and love of the Club, but your constant chopping and changing of players and formation could be yours and our downfall, please prove me wrong.

Well that was hard work, but in the end a welcomed 3 points.
The first half was dire, no hard pressing from the Town, our play was laboured and lacking any passion or tactical nous. Our fullbacks had no confidence to attack, while Dozzell, who should have been our playmaker was anonymous, only Downes, Skuse, Woolfenden and to a lesser extent El Mizouni were worthy of any real credit in a half that saw us 1-0 down.
The introduction of Georgiou at the start of the second half, was a instant success, but it was not until a change of system during the second half...back to 4-4-2, with Jackson and Judge joining the fray, that Town finally got to grips with the game, pushed for a result, and finally won it with two late goals, from the STRIKING PAIR Norwood and Jackson. PL please don't tinker too much, find the true formation, and stick with it?
