after yesterdays debacle the handwriting is on the wall. We are where Wednesday was just before the Jan. window . They did nothing of note and paid the consequences. McK will be watching to see which players are up to the challenge and which are not in the next two games ,
listening to McK today I would say 4 in 4 out. My conjecture at this point is it will be very much like last year: 1. CB capable of playing right or left FB as needed 2 striker 3. MF 4. your guess is as good as mine.
things should be much clearly by the end of the month because those are the teams we have to be able to compete with, and whoever said the draw for players in the Championship is that Town offers a ticket to the Premiership and there are still some seats left. Forgot about the Derby where the pressure is off the charts. Town should have been up 4-1 by halftime. Sadly there are still players that need three chances to score which they will not get in the Premiership We know who they are now. Can McKenna coach the nerves out of them or not that is the question?
...the best call so far imo.McKenna clearly wants players to be able to cover several positions (aka Clarke who can be an excellent holding midfielder but can still be an attacking threat). The players who are bench sitters at this point are surplus to requirements except in a crisis. Wimbledon is the last opportunity to find out who they might be. Thank God that idiotic pizza cup is gone as is Papa John himself who has been booted out of the company.
..call me crazy but I've got a feeling that Clarke is being groomed for a mid field role in the future. Neither Morsy nor Luongo are spring chickens and with the bloody internationals to deal with too it makes sense,If he's been training for a midfield role lately it might explain his strange loss of form as a full back because it's not easy to train for a position that you're not playing regularly.
Gamechanger is aptly named because the game is changing rapidly at the moment. The Premiership is tightening up these days such that the rich oil sheiks that support clubs like City are finding that their teams are no longer running away with the league and clubs like Brentwood are sitting comfortably in mid table. A bigger change is coming though because the bank loans supporting these smaller clubs are coming to an end soon and Hammers wont be able to borrow anything like 30 million to purchase Davis because the banks won't have it to lend. At that point the best managed clubs like Town with a small budget will thrive
McKenna's genius is that he is building a team for the Premiership as we speak and NOT one just to survive the Championship and get promoted with no plan to stay up.The case in point is Wes' goal:When the first buildup appeared to stall they passed back to the goalie and started again until they drew the player covering Davis out of position and then struck with deadly precision. Norwich has learned nothing of these tactics and in spite of all the parachute payments wasted is now suffering for their stupidity. Your points are well taken: players familiar with the system are worth their weight in gold even if they don't look like much on the surface.
..thanks for the input guys it is very helpful to me here in Canada. I thought about Walton going too because there is little chance of his replacing Vlad at this point.Aluko is also a bench sitter like Ladapo and Ball and I agree that Edmunson may have become something of a liability at this point as well.I have lost track of Donacien btw. Does he have a long term injury or what because he is never mentioned lately? I agree with the idea of two coming in instead of four like last year but we must be careful indeed.
Assuming that McKenna has four players in mind to bring in like last year ,what position would they be and who would have to leave to make room for them?
