Melbourne Net Late in Seven-Goal Thriller as Town Exit Ultimate Quaran-Team Cup
at 19:27:08

Think he must have needed a little bit of help!

Question is why hasn't he talked about all the bigger clubs he has played or trophies he has won previously.

EFL to Meet This Morning to Make Decision on Games
at 09:15:52

Don't think there is any decision to be made ... clubs player/staff base being affected by it ... whilst the argument about being in the "open stadiums" therefore risk is minimal doesn't exactly stand up when queuing to get through turnstiles, for a drink and food etc. The only surprise is .. they haven't reached the decision to suspend all events including sports already.

Especially given "Many more families are going to lose loved ones" [Boris Johnson March 12th 2020]

Town Open Lambert Contract Talks Claim
at 11:10:05

Don't think it's anything to do with Sunderland's situation ... other than that they have sacked their manager ... and it's now sacking season across Europe as owners decide to gamble to get someone different to what they have to get a better idea of what changes need making ahead of both the frantic number of matches over Christmas and New Year ... and not least the transfer window opening in January. Even if PL isn't being mentioned much/at all in connection with the Sunderland job given the inevitable number of sackings coming over the next few weeks he is bound to be connected to at least one of those.

Hope he stays. What a breath of fresh air he has created with the club!

Mayor Joins Plymouth
at 19:21:58

No idea if there were serious negotiations or not ... but the facilities in Plymouth are outstanding and far above what I would expect for many Championship sides. They use the Life Centre and MarJon Uni facilities a lot. Both sites are training sites for many Olympic medal winners. Regularly see Plymouth Argyle players and coaching teams at both sites when I am there on a regular basis through work.

Lambert Targeting Both Promotion and Rebuilding For Long Term
at 13:41:43

Agree pre-season is going to be key .. far too often the clubs transfer business done far too late.

Comparing the squad vs West Ham and vs Norwich on 2nd Sept. Of the 17 that made it onto the pitch vs West Ham in last years final pre-season match only 6 were still making it onto the pitch once the transfer window had closed. Pre-season became irrelevant and most of the squad were having to gel once we were already struggling in the league. That was always going to mean we were going to struggle for the remainder of the season.

BUT to those thinking we are going to rip up League One next year ... we don't exactly have a great record vs League one teams .. or even lower .. over recent years.

Here's hoping though ... and hope PL will be given time to build HIS team rather than be judged on what he was able to do/not do with the squad he inherited in the dire position it was already in.

Also wish PL would give a little more detail with his fan pleasing comments.... All on here ... and beyond with any interest in ITFC have our opinions that "standards have dropped"... well thats obvious once upon a time we won the UEFA cup .. now we are in League one.... so .. what exactly does he mean by that? And how has he already addressed that? Whats the plan other than keep repeating that "we need a little bit of help?"

Blues Linked With Renewed Tilt Interest
at 16:17:31

The Nsiala/Nolan deal needed the money from the Waghorn deal to go through ... so for not getting this done during the window in time I guess the funds simply weren't there .. especially with the way Blackpool were dealing with it...

With Garner though being sold in the last minutes of the window .. perhaps this is why the funds are now there and even to be closer to the amount Blackpool were asking for in the first place.

Do I expect all the new signings to work? No. But it would be fantastic if they all did.
Do I expect it to all fit together overnight and we are suddenly unbeatable and going to win the league before Christmas? No.
Do I expect the football to be more entertaining than the last few years …. YES!

Lots of points ...

1) After previous years and not just referring to MM this is an exciting time.

2) We have had squads of players with plenty of championship experience and most seasons of late been struggling. Championship experience is not necessarily the be all and end all. Nor is Premiership experience. Mbappe seemed to do ok at the World Cup .. despite no World cup experience.. same for most of the England team too!

3) New manager - wants HIS team that can play HIS way and adapt to HIS ideas.

4) Waghorn offer was too good to turn down given how much he had cost a year ago.

5) Not only will some of last seasons squad become set in their ways under MM ... BUT also some may well have simply wanted out after the toxic atmosphere at many games over a sustained period of time ... look at the treatment of Douglas, and many others since.

6) Certainly not expecting a squad with this many new members, AND a new manager to gel together overnight - this season is very much a rebuilding project - at all levels within the club.

7) For the first time in years .. there is genuine competition for places .. no more "proper blokes" ....

8) AND this will also hopefully lead to the much hoped for improved cup runs .. which are vital for a club such as ours for the injection of funds they can provide - and ignored under previous managerS

9) With the papers/pundits/bookies making us 3rd favourites for relegation .. thats been based on the squad with plenty of championship experience ....which no longer exists!

Keep hoping. Be patient. More signings??

Yes please!!!

Shrews Chief: We'd Like to Keep Duo But They're Not Focused on Playing for Shrewsbury
at 11:49:06

Not heard of Shrews manager before PH came here ... just seems like this is how he does things. Tries to make himself look big and hard done by by bigger clubs. Partly thats how football works .. happens to us over academy and better players .. happens to top clubs eg Neymar and PSG.

As for believing text message etc .... think if thats how things were really done by ITFC .... we would have heard about it LONG before now....

AND it may have been text message as hes trying to ignore PH's phone calls and set ITFC emails to go to junk!

Shrews Chief: We'd Like to Keep Duo But They're Not Focused on Playing for Shrewsbury
at 19:26:26

fingers crossed to getting them all ...AND keeping Waghorn (unlikely but this is football .. we hope!)

certainly would expand the squad with players unlikely to be on massive wages ...

creates a larger squad which we have needed

and most importantly gives genuine competition for places.... it looks like PH runs a very fitness intensive regime ... I suspect the extra numbers are going to be needed in the squad to cope with that!

Also it may be a lot of new players .. but its a new manager .. wanting to run things his way ... he's going to need players he thinks can play his way and judging from earlier comments he's not all that convinced the ones he inherited can/will.

BUT this is a lot of players in towards the end of the transfer window .. they have missed pre-season etc .. they and PH MUST be given time.

Surely there is a simple solution to this ...restrict squad and academy sizes. If they already are .. then clearly the figure is too high.

It seems as if there is little to prevent the richest clubs buying up all the potential talent around the world. Take a look at how many players Chelsea had out on loan last year as an example. Even the ones that dont then go on to make it as a Chelsea first teamer will still get sold on for several million...so for them grabbing any potentially promising youngster on the cheap is well worth it. BUT them having to make harsher and more realistic decisions because of limits to the size of their academy could solve this problem.

Sunderland Agree Terms With Ross

ME is a successful businessman .... in his interview he said end of may/early june ... have faith .. . what can possibly go wrong .... i mean just look at his previous ITFC appointments ....

Clegg
Keane
Jewell
Milne
McCarthy
missing out on Ross
losing the totally inexperienced Lampard over wages (but more likely to have been transfer budget)

And don't forget the 5 point plan from just over a year ago!!!

Updated - Marcus Evans Interview
at 18:40:41

The reason ME has been perceived by some as being a bad owner is because he has been so aloof and distant from the club. He has also used puppets - Clegg and Milne (and the other one) who also came across as being inept, clueless and unable to say anything without getting it cleared by ME first and as having zero knowledge of football whatsoever.

This interview is long overdue, addresses many issues fans have been concerned about, acknowledges mistakes and is a step in the right direction and that IS what it is - a step - a journey of a thousand miles will always start with just one step.

IF this is the beginning of improvements in communication between the club and fans then great - but as he doesn't seem too keen to repeat future interviews again I fear it will be same old same old.

Steijn: I'm on List of Possible New Ipswich Bosses

Try and get Derek Adams - Plymouth Argyle manager - completely rebuilt his squad (14 signings)last summer after losing out on promotion in the play offs .. now on the verge of winning League 2. In interviews - speaks his mind, doesn't have favourites, plays attacking football, encourages and develops youth...

As for this guy .. never heard nor the club .. no idea .. a bit like MM, ME, and IM

McCarthy: Get Enough Points to Stay Up and Then Have a Sort Out in this League

Not gone yet?

Seriously.... why not?

The vast majority of fans don't want you, the players aren't playing for you, you are likely to have relegated on your CV at this rate, an owner who doesn't support you with funds for players, you don't live in the area, there is no feelgood factor to the club at all ... create some .. just go ..
