Newcastle United 3-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 17:25:38

How good has our away support been? So proud. The rest of it has been unfortunately a straight-line regression during the back end of the season, some of it undoubtedly due to injuries but underwhelming recruitment has been the root-cause of our issues. I wish KM would experiment with things over the last 4 games (e.g., play Delap and Hirst together) - let's go down the Ipswich way instead of playing 5 center-backs.

Heart-stopping stuff ... and a Wolves win over the w/e and maybe things will get interesting ... by the by, how does Johnson get any playing time - he is so miserably bad

Nottingham Forest 1-1 (AET, 5-4 on Pens) Ipswich Town

I thought we punched above our weight with our reserves tonight. Morsy played one of his better matches in recent memory and Johnson was decent enough; it was strange that Taylor took the fifth penalty as he seemed gassed and suffering from cramp. Love Palmer - does everything that he is supposed to and then some. With Cunha out for a while, I hope we have the door ajar for an ITFC miracle.

Embarrassing, pathetic display with little creativity and more disturbingly, no energy and will to win. That second half with maybe two shots, one on goal is so perturbing and what it portends for the rest of the season. Agreed that we have recruited really poorly and worried about what it means for us financially.

Amazing resolute display. Palmer is such a steady hand and that save towards the end was spectacular; thought Omari defended well, nicking the ball a few times. Not sure what KM sees in Ben Johnson - he is rubbish ... not a fan of Phillips at all, second best always and gave away a couple of free kicks including the one that lead to their equalizer. Enciso is a loss - can be difference maker. Would love to see Delap and Hirst together for a few minutes. Amazing point that hopefully gives us good momentum.

@oioihardy - ur so right. Broadhead is playing well, running at the opposition and is in the current setup, a difference maker. The only logic for him not starting is he is possibly better when the opposition is a bit tired. Amari looks tired and perhaps lacks for confidence. Hoping we start Broadhead, Enciso, Jaden and Delap against Southampton.

TWTV Video Verdict - Manchester City
at 15:47:58

@Chrisgee - what is conjecture? That our transfer activity has been rubbish and inferior to other teams - that is an opinion, not conjecture. Many transfer dealings are public - how much Forest paid for their defenders is fact, not conjecture. I am providing an example of how other teams (in other financial ecosphere) have done MUCH better in the transfer market than we have - this is an example, not conjecture (Forest signed 2 center backs who performing spectacularly for 20M, the same as we paid for Greaves). The only thing that we are NOT privy to is their wages (which ITFC might not be able to afford). The big point ur missing is that we have spent >125M putting us in a difficult situation from a FFP standpoint with way below average results. Who of the 13 new lads in your mind (other than Delap and maybe O'Shea) have performed?

TWTV Video Verdict - Manchester City

We have been so outclassed in the last two games. One needs to really question our transfer policy. We have paid through the roof for players that are arguably no better than what we have (exception: delap and maybe o'shea). How does Forrest sign Murillo and Milenkovic in back to back summers for barely over 10M each, and we are stuck on recruiting domestically, purportedly because they settle in easier? Recruiting so irresponsibly puts us in a very dangerous position financially.

Ipswich Town 0-6 Manchester City - Match Report

The first 20 mins was VERY encouraging. After that it was the Jeremy Doku show - what a difference maker. We were backing off of him into the penalty area and from then on, it was a toss-up whether City were going to score. Worried that our recruiting other than Delap (and maybe O'Shea) has been very suspect and too focused domestically. We tend to play tighter away from home, so hopefully confidence is not affected and we can give a better showing at Liverpool.

That was an unimaginatively poor display - not a one (other than Broadhead maybe) deserve their paycheck for that game. I hate to single out anyone among an awful gaggle, but for me Kalvin Phillips is an absolute zero - in his position, you need to turn some of those passes from the back into positive turns and runs (maybe 1-2 times per game) instead of pinging them back to where they came from. Hopefully, got all the uglies out of the way in one game and can put a "Chelsea performance" together against City.

McKenna: Philogene Really Keen to Come to Town
at 15:01:47

I do wonder how Villa is getting getting Malen (a player with Bundesliga credentials) for the same amount we are paying for Philogene (similar age, but unproven in the Premiership); probably wage differentials. Either way, I think it is fair to say that Town have been weak in overseas recruiting during McKenna's time (no one other than Cajuste comes to mind).
