UAEFAblue is 100% correct. We likely would have managed to survive had we recruited better, especially with 130M+ spent. For that, McKenna and Ashton are chief cultprits. We should have followed more of the Brighton, Brentford, Bournemouth recruiting blueprint. Hopefully, we can rubber-band back up in 2026-2027.

Heart-stopping stuff ... and a Wolves win over the w/e and maybe things will get interesting ... by the by, how does Johnson get any playing time - he is so miserably bad

Amazing resolute display. Palmer is such a steady hand and that save towards the end was spectacular; thought Omari defended well, nicking the ball a few times. Not sure what KM sees in Ben Johnson - he is rubbish ... and not sure why Phillips is getting a high rating - second best always and gave away a couple of free kicks including the one that lead to their equalizer. Enciso is a loss - can be difference maker. Would love to see Delap and Hirst together for a few minutes.

I thought we actually played decently, more like we did last year. Delap, Cajuste and Enciso were fantastic. But, much mention has been made of our recruiting and we must admit that it has been terribly suspect especially for the prices paid - Philogene has been unimpressive, Clark lacks confidence, Hutch looks tired and Greaves is not better than our legacy defenders. Given the massive spend, considered about our financial fair play position and what it might mean at end of season.

The first 20 mins was VERY encouraging. After that it was the Jeremy Doku show - what a difference maker. We were backing off of him into the penalty area and from then on, it was a toss-up whether City were going to score. Worried that our recruiting other than Delap (and maybe O'Shea) has been very suspect and too focused domestically. We tend to play tighter away from home, so hopefully confidence is not affected and we can give a better showing at Liverpool.

That was an unimaginatively poor display - not a one (other than Broadhead maybe) deserve their paycheck for that game. I hate to single out anyone among an awful gaggle, but for me Kalvin Phillips is an absolute zero - in his position, you need to turn some of those passes from the back into positive turns and runs (maybe 1-2 times per game) instead of pinging them back to where they came from. Hopefully, got all the uglies out of the way in one game and can out a "Chelsea performance" together against City.
