We are now a week out from the Manchester Marathon and while we have hit our original target we have increased it so if anyone has any spare pennies around to donate then please help. Team Stewart are doing amazing with their fundraising and it would be great for us to hit the target we have set as our contribution to say thank you for the great memories Marcus brought us! |

Try Sportshoes.com, usually buy online from there or the Nike outlets in Norwich/Wembley. I have to have stability shoes, best ones I’ve had if you need them are Nike Structures and now on my 3rd pair since May due to my mileage. New Balance were quite good too. Coes when they are open do the Gait Analysis which films you running to look at your pronation. |

I ran last year, it is awesome, I struggled the last 2 miles with my foot but the encouragement from the crowd really do help you. |

I started out last year being taught to run and walk but having it structured, so run for x number of mins then have a 1 min walk break. It worked for me as a beginner. I’m now up to half marathon running the whole way. I did run/walk the marathon this year as was worried about previous knee injuries and the distance but it worked. It might not work for you but worth trying, just takes a bit of trial and error to see how long you can run for before needing a break. Key is that you don’t get to the stage where you are knackered, good test is whether you can hold a conversation. |

It’s my year of birth, so did think it was funny to end on that total. |

I just wanted to put a post up to say THANK YOU to everyone who donated to my fundraising for Ipswich Deaf Society when I ran this years London Marathon. Although my page is still open for a few more weeks I think I've had the donations that I expected and raised a total of £1984 (including giftaid), my target was £1000 initially so over the moon to have smashed it. We are hoping to start some of the work on the building in the next few weeks so we can provide some more community services. Thank you again |

I listened to the Bella Mackie book, very good not only from a running point of view but also to anyone suffering mental health problems or for those who have family members suffering. |

Finally back in the land of living, for a 1st time I was happy with how it went, 5hrs 27mins, last 3miles were tough as felt my calf tighten and decided to take it easy so I could make sure I could run the last KM. Did see far too many budgies! I was thinking never again, but completed ballot form on way home for next year. |

Just wanted to say with a week to go I have managed to exceed my target for Ipswich Deaf Society so thank you to everyone who has donated to the charity to help with the projects we have. It doesn’t stop there though and if anyone has any spare pennies and hasn’t donated then page is still open 😀 Thank you all again |

My mum as well as been Deaf (luckily she has some hearing due to hearing aids) but is registered blind so know a bit about Usher as she has some friends with it. If I do another marathon (New York is one I would like to do) then a charity to do with blindness would be next on my list as it’s awful watching someone losing their sight especially with the hearing problems added in. |

So as I’ve mentioned the main reason for the fundraising is to help with the improvement of the premises that we have. This weekend we had the opening of the 1st part of the project, a community coffee bar. The Mayor for Ipswich came and officially opened the coffee bar. https://www.facebook.com/The-Wharfe-Coffee-Bar-2080853588677780/ Here is a link to the Facebook page for the coffee bar and will have details there for dates and times of openings coming up if anyone wants to pop in and say hello and see a bit more of what we are trying to do then please do so. |

Thanks to everyone who has sponsored me this week since I put the post up, as a number have mentioned it’s a great cause and something that affects so many people and not everyone realises how hard things can become, so I really appreciate those who have given something so we can work on the help we can offer. Today I did my final long run before I start my taper (gradual reduction in running) till London, 20.9 miles in the bag in 4 hours 9 mins, felt good at the end of it so hopefully with the crowds at the end it will get me to the end. |

Yes, I was the community champion for the Derby game, loved doing that, never got to be a mascot as a kid so that made up for it. |
