Walton, Clarke, Woolfenden, Burgess, Davis, Morsy, Luongo, Burns, Chaplin, Broadhead, Hirst. If all fit of course. Maybe some of the new signings are better “on paper”, but using the old Alf Ramsey 1966 formula that a team that gels is better than a few more “talented” individuals. The likes of Hutchinson, Delap, Szmodics great as impact subs. [Post edited 20 Oct 2024 22:11]

| Forum Thread | How can we improve on yesterday at 16:39 18 Aug 2024
First half we were great. 2nd half our intensity dropped. We're supposed to be a super fit side but it was definitely down on 1st half. Liverpool however were superb. Their passing and movement 2nd half probably as good as we'll see all season. That's what we need to learn from and aspire to. Not despondent at all. We'll improve as the season progresses COYB |
| Forum Thread | Thrilled that England won, but let’s not kid ourselves at 20:50 6 Jul 2024
It wasn’t brilliant. Southgate ‘s tactics continue to be cautious, and that’s being kind. From the main Swiss daily newspaper : “ Under the unpopular coach Gareth Southgate, they also put in a sluggish, phlegmatic and strangely joyless performance on Saturday. But as against Slovakia, England were not punished for this in regular time. Arsenal striker Bukayo Saka beat Yann Sommer after 80 minutes to make it 1-1. It was the favourites' first ever shot on goal.” We may still win the tournament, but I wish we were playing with freedom. We have the players to do that but Southgate is a dinosaur. |
