Who would you pick

Fair challenge! Where do those stats come from? I suppose though it's about telling passes, headers that produce something etc and other stats might be 4th or is it 5th choice at QPR, offside more than most....I'm not saying he isn't good, just maybe not quite as good as the early games might have suggested. Though accept all strikers go through barren patches.

Walton in a heartbeat. Think I'm in a minority of one on this and therefore probably wrong but I am not totally convinced Bonne is as good as we all thought - some cracking goals and love his commitment and if he's scoring then great, can't ask for more, but does he offer enough when the goals dry up.

Talking about going back - anyone remember Bob's van back in the day on a Friday and Saturday night in town.

Remember the claims about signings?
at 09:00 16 Dec 2021

We were told that character was important in terms of who we signed - Ashton et al constantly made a lot of fuss about that. Laughable now given the obvious lack of effort and application. Just words. Empty soundbites. Difficult to have any confidence they will get the managerial decision right given the abject failure so far.

Does McGreal try something a little different today?
at 10:21 11 Dec 2021

Entirely fair point - though since Morsy didn't fulfill his role at all the other night I'd happily take the risk on the basis he'll do similar at Wigan if he plays. I think we've got a shot to nothing today and might as well use the opportunity. I do accept though that if we do that, make lots of changes and lose, inevitably with hindsight we'll all be saying it was the wrong thing to do - glad I'm not in the managerial hotseat!

Has to make changes - for a start, surely Morsy and Evans both get dropped. Both played as if they were sulking at Charlton. What message does it send if they retain their places? Bring in El Miz and Harper. Plus if Pigott doesn't get his chance now given Bonne's lack of form, he'll surely be wondering whether he'll ever get on the pitch for a run of games. And play Chaplin who at least looked like he was trying at the Valley.

Just hope that
at 12:29 8 Dec 2021

whoever we appoint plays to the strengths of the players available rather than any rigid structure that must never be changed. Like lots of others, my immediate reaction to last night was to want a Warnock type to give them a rollicking but in the cold light of day I have a feeling Liam Manning would be worth a punt. Would carry some risk but then the reality is that applies to anyone really, proven or otherwise. But please no single, unalterable system that we try to shoehorn players into come what may

poor attitude so far - this could have gone one of 2 ways: heads down and cave in or show some fight. Sadly it's the first so far

Created nothing at all. Defensively naive. No midfield. Quite a lot for the new manager to work on. Terrible so far

What's happened to Harper? Have I missed news about an injury or has he just fallen down the pecking order?

Bit rum on here and across the fan base innit
at 10:15 4 Dec 2021

Not an original thought I know but it's the lack of adaptability with what we mostly all seem to agree is a strong squad that is hard to understand - we seem to keep trying exactly the same approach and tactics in the hope the results will be different next time....there's a well-worn cliche that sums up why that is a puzzling way to behave

What were you doing 48 years ago today?
at 09:56 19 Sep 2021

I was there too as an 11 year old, also in the West Stand, near where the players come out. Ended up next to a Real fan who was convinced they would win easily. Gunter Netzer was brilliant I seem to recall. The away performance by Town was excellent - 0-0 I think.

set up and the defensive shape that goes with it to counteract the full backs getting forward - is it deployed successfully elsewhere? I'm sure we'll look more solid as the players get used to it but just wondered whether it is used regularly by the most successful teams and is therefore a tried and tested system?

no question that it's disappointing in terms of results after 2 games. Still think there's a lot to be excited about in terms of the players brought in and the potential of the team but equally potential has to turn into achievement before too long. We all have slightly different views on how long it should take before the team settles down but I don't think it's unreasonable to expect us to be performing and getting results that equate to top 6 performance after 8 - 10 games. if we're not doing it by then excuses are going to sound very lame
