I think 'ego' / 'confidence' is a fine line for sure, but you want your striker to be fairly confident in themselves. Scoring goals is all about confidence. His comment about 'bringing a winning mentality' - well it might upset a few but let's have this right, we finished 11th last season, and we could have gone on a winning run into the play offs, we didn't. So he is right, that we do need a winning mentality. If he calls that out, I am fine with it. |

regardless of whether it is true or not, it is just painfully annoying that such a small tinpot club like Wigan can even be linked to taking one of our players. |

I hope he returns too, he is blue, through and through. Can't help but think he is going to do a Will Keane on us if he goes elsewhere. Question is, why did the goals dry up, needs to work on his psychology (as well as maybe offside positioning), both solvable though you would have thought. |

I am close to M25 / M40 junction and have got my first season ticket for a while too. Happy to lift share from here - round the top of the M25 down the A12 ..... [Post edited 3 May 20:26]

I am not saying the first half of the season was better, but what McKenna now knows about this squad of players, Paul Cook already knew in December. |

you can’t compare apples with pears. The squad was still being assembled right up until the start of October. |

That sacking Paul cook has NOT worked out and in future we should give our managers a minimum of 2 transfer windows unless we are clearly bottom three I am quite sure he would have got us top six as his style of play, when executed consistently would result in top two form |

I think we will definitely be in the top six. Would be interested to better understand why Rotherham, mk dons and Wigan have been so effective at accruing points What do they do differently? Why did Rotherham beat us yesterday? If we can be as effective as these teams then we could make top two. We seem to have consistency now, but will this playing style yield enough goals? |

If they take a metrics based view on our entire front line, Celina, Chaplin, Burns, Aluko, Bonne, Piggot, Jackson and Norwood. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/teams/ipswich-town/top-scorers Impact per game (Lower score better) ************************************** Burns 17 / 36 = 2.1 games Celina 11 / 29 = 2.6 games Norwood 8 / 21 = 2.625 games Jackson 6 / 16 = 2.66 Bonne 15 / 42 = 2.8 games ************************************** Chaplin 10 / 39 = 3.9 games ************************************** Aluko 3 / 34 = 11.3 games Piggot 2 / 23 = 11.5 games |

On point number 1: 9 Ipswich Town You see that number nine there, that suggests we are in exactly the same position as when Cook was sacked (unless I am mistaken on that?). Point 2 was an opinion, but a fairly well informed one, having seen the entire promotion winning season home and away, I have seen what a top two side looks like. I would suggest we are not one, and the closest I have seen us look like one was at Wycombe and Portsmouth. Bu of course the consistency was not there. I do think McKenna is perfectly capable of achieving a top two side, and there have been elements of our play which suggests we will get there next year. But the reality is, we are not there yet, and if we were, we would have put away Cambridge at home, and we would not have conceded late at Oxford. Top two sides don't do those things. |

On point one, I am not saying McKenna 'should' have done better, I think he has done ok, but I am just pointing out that we haven't made up ground. On point two, game is all about finishing, and this was not addressed in January transfer window. Our other issue was left back, and that has not really been addressed either, I would have preferred Penney, as he has a great delivery. No doubt a reason why our threat down the left hand side dried up in the 2nd half of the season. Just balancing out the 'its all Cook's fault' rhetoric. |
