Sorry, recovering from reading his pre-match quotes. Did he really just put Oxford and Town on a level playing field in the 80s? Stop it. My aching sides! |
 | Forum Thread | Storm Eunice on a par with the storm of 1987! at 12:17 16 Feb 2022
Widespread amber warnings across the whole of southern/eastern/western England haven't been on this scale since then. We could be looking at some severe disruption during Friday daytime in Suffolk... Some models are suggesting up to 80-90mph winds even inland! Game could be in jeopardy perhaps on Sat. [Post edited 16 Feb 12:17]

 | Forum Thread | Any property experts out there? at 21:07 4 Jan 2022
My wife and I are pondering a move in 2022, but are rather unsure as to whether it's likely to be a buyer's market this year or not. Anyone work in property? If so, what are your thoughts on the year ahead? We'd be looking for a move up the ladder so loathed to enhance our mortgage if equity could diminish quickly. Darn Covid. |

What's all this I'm seeing on Twitter regarding a voice note of Paul Cook? |

 | Forum Thread | Harris done deal at 22:56 13 Dec 2021
Rumours gathering pace on WhatsApp among a few people I know connected to the club that it's sorted. Bircham could indeed be part of Harris' coaching setup, which could explain his odds with the bookies. If this does have legs, I have to say I'm truly, truly gutted we've chucked Cookie for this lot. |

 | Forum Thread | Recruitment all wrong? at 22:51 7 Dec 2021
Instead of using that US investment to find players that would see us as a step up and have the heart and desire to make the club proud, we opted for a very different route. Mainly tried and trusted players that saw us as a step down with healthy salaries to soften the blow. How many of those 19 signings were 100% Cook signings too? I have a real feeling that Ashton will have had a hand in almost half of them, so he too should be feeling a real sense of responsibility right now. We've seen so many teams at this level now play simple, structured and effective styles that prove successful in League 1. We didn't need flair players coming out of our ears. We just needed a team. And we're so far from being a team it's untrue. In fact, I'd argue this current crop is more disjointed than even the Paul Jewell era. It's going to take a good manager to solve this. My fear is that Liam Manning or someone of that ilk might see it as too big a job and would prefer to carry on his good work at MK Dons. |
 | Forum Thread | It's not McGreal's job to lose at 11:40 6 Dec 2021
For all those people who've said how ruthless the new ownership is, do you really think the board would appoint John McGreal permanently? With so much money on the line, they will want someone tried and tested or, at the very least, with a clear ideology. I'm not really sure McGreal ticks either of those boxes. Let's be honest, if he hadn't kicked a ball in anger for Town he would never have been even in the frame. He's local, he knows the club, he's respected enough in the Football League. He'll do a decent interim job for the next couple of games, nothing more. |
 | Forum Thread | Recruitment at 08:57 24 Nov 2021
Many of us did say in the summer that we may have recruited too many technical players and not enough of the other key ingredients you need in League One. We lack presence and power in attack (despite Bonne's best lone efforts), we are still very one-paced in the middle of the park, and still defensively liable to errors. Should we have invested in solid League One players and worried about building a Championship side when we were there instead? |
 | Forum Thread | Now's the time... at 21:53 2 Nov 2021
Put the knives away for Cook. This is a team to be proud of. Steady, incremental progress. But my god when it clicks we're streets ahead of most in this league. We've been heading in the right direction for weeks but hopefully a result like this buys Cook plenty of credit from the Sky Sports posse. |
 | Forum Thread | Fraser at 20:04 9 Oct 2021
In his iFollow interview this evening he seemed quite downbeat about his role in the team. Said how he's a left sided 8 rather than the left of a three. I really don't see why Cook is so reticent to play him centrally? |

Got a Print at Home ticket for the Father in Law this morning, but my printer's out of ink. Am I right in saying the barcode from the PDF can be scanned directly from a smartphone at the turnstiles now? Just wanted to double check FPR has now moved with the times! |
 | Forum Thread | Tempo at 09:48 18 Aug 2021
My biggest reservation so far has been the tempo, or lack of it. There was a 10-15 minute spell last night where we moved the ball quicker and carved through Cheltenham at will. But it was all too infrequent. It was a similar story at Burton - ten mins of prolonged intensity culminating in Barry's foul/penalty. It seems like we're unable to sustain it for any length of time. There were times in both halves last night when I watched the back line passing it around and I thought "I could be watching Lambert's team here". Worse still, the passing around the back line still largely resulted in either full back launching it down the channels rather than a considered pass into the midfield. Meh. |
 | Forum Thread | Sounds like Burgess is carrying knocks too! at 20:06 14 Aug 2021
John Coleman said Burgess "played through the pain barrier on Tues" and was "prepared to do so again on Sat" before the fee was agreed. When will we have some luck with injuries?! |
 | Forum Thread | Are we going to be streetwise enough? at 17:05 14 Aug 2021
That's my only concern right now. Teams are going to be direct and in our faces. I worry if our new recruits can stand up to that, Evans apart. Fraser looks incredibly fragile in confidence given he's had 2 great seasons. I hope can mentally handle playing for this club. |
